2021 Harry Potter Advent Calendar revealed!
Posted by CapnRex101,
LEGO has revealed yet another upcoming set, 76390 Harry Potter Advent Calendar! Succeeding the previous calendars, this set contains 274 pieces and costs £24.99, $39.99 or €24.99.
Some unique printed elements and minifigures are included, as always. You can view all 24 gifts and more information after the break...
The calendar is evidently inspired by Harry's first steps into the Wizarding World, containing items from his collection by Hagrid, the Leaky Cauldron, Gringotts Wizarding Bank and Harry's eventual departure from Kings Cross Station.
An intriguing board gaming component also appears on the packaging, suggesting locations for each item on the board and using the colourful spinner which is shown above.
Additional images are available on the set details page.
Are you impressed with this Advent Calendar? Let us know in the comments.

I love the Harry Potter Advent calendars, but I don't see too much here that I need. I might have to get the Marvel calendar this year (rumors say there will be a Marvel calendar, at least).
Some of the builds look rather boring, but I like the idea of Harry's journey to Hogwarts. Be interested to know more about the game element.
Imagine being a kiddo excited for chrimbo, opening up your advent calendar for the day only to be greeted by... a buildable brick wall. Fun!!
Damn, can we keep the talk on Advent Calendars to December? It's already all we talk about then! :P
More seriously, I didn't know they spoiled the whole thing half a year in advance, so surprising.
Glad to see there's another way to acquire that fantastic dark red Garrick Ollivander torso now.
I didn’t notice until I checked, but I’m pretty sure those are YET more new uniform variants. I appreciate it a lot but they could probably have picked more interesting torsos to introduce. Would have liked more exclusive characters, too. Not entirely sure the builds seem cohesive but hopefully the game elements will tie it together
Blimey! Summer hasn't even started and we're getting Christmas releases. Nuts!
Curious about the game aspects. Looks super basic but getting more mileage out of an otherwise disposable package is good.
The HP calendars are consistently good. The only problem is I own all of them so a new calendar has less appeal.
The nephews we've bought the calendars for in the past (of any theme) like them, according to their parents, so I think the numerous small builds and minifigs are a hit.
So the set is a definite buy, even if it's as a gift.
Pretty dull figure selection.
So presorted torsos and a no longer exclusive Harry from Diagon Alley, and a reuse of Ollivander's torso..
So one of the main selling points for me are the figures. I love HP. It is my favorite theme...but I don't think I can stomach paying for this one. Hopefully Amazon will sell it at a discount again this year. I don't see how they can sell for $40...
For me, I like my advent calendars to be a little bit festive so the special holiday figure of the Star Wars advent calendars was always a bit of a draw (Otherwise regular character wearing a Santa had excluded...) This feels a bit more like just another set to me, although I suppose there is that one Christmas tree.
I might still need to get it for the printed tiles and the couple of minifigures that I don't already have, but I'm not overly excited about it as an advent calendar so it might be the first one that I don't open patiently day by day in December.
I really hope LEGO starts trying some IP based board games, (with more depth than just spinning a top). So much potential to create awesome boards. And have something to keep and actually take out once in a while.
If the game wasn't as basic I might've considered it. That said its got some great pieces.
Where does Harry Potter get the budget for all these new prints!?
I told myself last year that I don't need the the Lego advent calendars and I wished that Mega Construx would release one for Masters of the Universe.
Guess what's coming out this year! ;-)
Wow... A wall is included!
I wonder why since 2018 they didnt release anything related to Half Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows, and did just one set based on the Order of The Phoenix.
More of the same, a few great things, but mostly meh things. Dudley better have a pig tail though.

By the time Christmas comes round everyone will have forgotten about whats in it, hopefully....
Yay, Harry, Hermione, Ron and Malfoy! I was running low on those by now...
Remember, this is intended for little kids. Some of them might *want* a stack of brick wall pieces.
Observation: the dining table is identical in style to the one from 2019, so you can expand your Great Hall further if you want.
Okay wait! A 1x1 masonry brick?! Is it finally happening?!
Okay I really wondered why on Earth one of the models seemed to be just a completely blank wall, but box art shows it coming apart as the Diagon Alley entrance. That’s a bit better at least

I think Hagrid should have been there rather than Malfoy.

Looks like 2 1x1 tiles face-to-face to me.
That’s the worst car I’ve seen in a long time! No steering wheel, the seats force you to sit off-center, and you’ll get terrible traction with those skinny wheels. But, hey, at least with three headlights you’ll get a great view of whatever you’re about to crash into....
@Ayliffe:
Ah, but it’s a _magical_ brick wall! See if you can figure out the secret.
@Phoenixio:
They’ve done it at NYTF before, which would be over three months earlier.

It’s actually not just a wall! If you look at the construction you can see that the thing consists of several subassemblies which aren’t connected in any way, just stacked on top of one another. It’s probably an aspect of the game, or it’s a HP reference I don’t know about cuz I haven’t seen or read the series. Frankly I don’t even know why I’m commenting on or even reading this article in the first place.
Rather lack luster.
Nothing to write home about. A couple of interesting torsos but that's it. Unless it is massively discounted it will be a pass and I'll just get the torsos on Bricklink. Sorry to say but I think boring is an adequate term to describe this product. Well, they release so many products every year not all of them may appeal to everyone.
I'd be more impressed if the wall turned into an archway, assuming it's the way into Diagon Alley. And are the wizard cards the same as in some of this years set? Shameless milking of the public as people try to collect all of them - perhaps LEGO know it's rather a dull set otherwise.
Now I'll try to forget until December.
Lego, seriously. It's June
Considering that the calendars regularly get discounted up to 50% after a while I will certainly get this one as well, just like those in previous years.
Looks great.
Now I hope City will have a more normal Calendar as well as the 2020 one was pretty bad unless you loved LEGO City Adventures and microbuilds I suppose.
That swastika on the wall though
Thanks LEGO for spoiling the surprises as early as June. What's the point of an advent calendar if you already know what's hidden behind the doors?

They've published the contents of the Advent Calendars in advance since forever. (And the boxes have always revealed over half the contents anyway.) This is nothing new?

And what is your point? Does this make it ok then? The whole reason they made these random wizard tiles was to have at least some element of surprise in this line-up.

It's neither "OK" nor "not OK." It's advertising for a children's product. Odds are, the average child isn't reading Brickset.com and will be happily surprised when they get their annual set. Adults, on the other hand, may want to know what's in the set and maybe are wise enough to not open this article if they don't want to know what's inside.
You'll notice that the main Brickset page only showed the box. You're the one who opened the article and looked at the contents.
With Advent Calenders, I can look at the spoiler image in June/July, decide which ones are worth buying, and then I have half a year to forget all tje details.
This is a miss for me, but without the spoiler image I might have bought this on the strength of the first two HP calenders and been disappointed.

I think it's supposed to be one of those mine cart things they ride around in Gringotts. Don't need to worry about steering when you're on rails, which is what those skinny wheels are for

You're not wrong. I didn't notice it at first. Now it is all I see...
I don’t like how it lacks a theme unlike the previous two. There are some nice elements, but this is one of the weaker calendars from the theme.

Oh man I really hope so - Marvel and DC Advent calendars would be most welcome!
@mr_Fikou:
Two. Two identical sub-assemblies. The parts used consist of:
Dark-brown 2x 1x2 tile, 2x Unikitty chin (inverse 1x3 tile)
Caramel 8x 1x2 masonry brick
Dark-orange 2x 1x1 brick, 4x 1x1 tile, 4x 1x3 plate
@HugeYellowBrick:
It is, and it also looks like it’s an obstacle in the game. And it’s an advent calendar mini-build, so there are some pretty hard limits on what pieces they can use, or how big they can make the model. It’s already two rotationally symmetrical assemblies, but trying to add an arch would probably stretch it across two days. Hopefully that’s not the case...
@R0Sch:
Did you know what was included before you clicked on the article to complain? Did you learn what’s included after you clicked on the article to complain? Huw and his staff do a pretty good job of keeping Advent Calendar spoilers off the front page. It’s hard to avoid knowing there’s an article there, but it takes some effort on your part to actually breach the spoiler alert. And they might be taking orders for these from retailers, so they know how many to have produced before December hits. That’s the reason all these Toy Fair style events were created in the first place, but things were still pretty dicey back in Jan/Feb. They had to wait a few extra months to spoil it this year.
@The_Four_Chunk:
While I assume Christmas is a regular part of at least the first six books, they have a movie license. While seven of the eight movies do include scenes that take place at Christmas, only a few really feel Christmasy enough to hang an Advent Calendar on. They’ve already done Year 1 when Harry and Ron stay over at Hogwarts while Hermione goes home. Then they did the Yule Ball from Year 4. Some of us expected the Slug Club party from Year 6, as Harry getting the Firebolt in Year 3 wont really fill up an entire calendar. This returns to Year 1, but at the start of the school year this time.
@Brickalili:
Joke: 0, @Brickalili...it feels wrong to score that any higher than 0.
Delighted to see a change in direction from the advent calendars of the past & maybe this is a teaser for a Gringotts set at the scale of the new Chamber of Secrets set? Even better if it is based on the Deathly Hallows! How cool would that be if it was released at Christmas?
I must say, this is my least favourite Harry Potter advent calendar. That 2020 one was hard to beat though.
Huh, this is...disappointing.
Most of the builds are pretty generic, no holiday theme whatsoever, and could the Minifigs be more uninspired? Would have liked a Hogsmeade theme to tie into the Three Broomsticks maybe. Something snowy at least.
Afte rhow good the last two were, I was really looking forward to this one. Hopefully the Star Wars and Marvel ones are good!

Nope its just STOT techinque
This is one of most lamest AC they made yet.

The point is that parents know what's inside so that they can decide whether it's worth buying for their kids or not.
LEGO doesn't care that there might be some AFOLs who want to be as surprised as the kids when they open the doors.
To be honest, I don't blame LEGO, as no one is forcing you to look at the pictures or click on this article if you don't want to be spoiled. You decided to do so, so it's your own fault if you ruined the surprise for yourself.
After all, the main target audience for these calendars is kids, not adults who want to behave as such.
As for the calendar itself, I agree that it is one of the weaker offerings, especially in the minifigs, but there are some nice builds, and the cohesive theme is certainly a good idea too.
Does anyone else find it weird that in an advent calendar one of the builds is basically a dreidel?
Wow this is boring. No new characters like 2020 and pretty uninspired figs.
Years ago they did a Pirate Advent Calendar. I wanted it then but it wasn't available in my part of the world. I think it's time to do another one. Harry Potter has lost its new car smell.
Love the cake, train ticket and Leaky Cauldron pieces. Also great to get a way to get Diagon Alley Harry for those people who didn't have £350 to spend on that set. I had the money but couldn't justify shelling out for it, even though I loved the figs including that Harry one.
I don't collect Harry Potter, but last year's calendar had some nice furniture and accessories. This year's looks pretty dull which is perhaps because of the game mechanics needing certain items. Also, if you need to build everything before you can play the game, will kids be enthusiastic about doing that after Christmas?
I appreciate the chance to look at the contents and then forget the specifics by December.

I agree Pirate or Castle Calendars would be nice in the current times with only a few large sets available of both themes (IDEAS & 3in1), at least to get some different figures and accesoires.
Castle had 2 calendars in 2008 and 2010 , Pirates Calendar was 2009, but each had 8-9 figures +1-2 skeletons. Could be a nice way to have themed figure packs.
I think it'd be nice if Lego would just rotate an Advent Calendar among the various themes once a year so we don't just end up with *every* theme having one someday. Do City, Friends, and then one rotation. (Although the Star Wars calendar has been a staple since 2011 and I'd be reluctant to see it go.)
I'm shocked that there hasn't been a Ninjago calendar ever.
Yippee! I wonder what I'll get today- oh, a brick wall
@dikner517:
There was a time when I would have said yes. Now, I know a Jewish family whose oldest daughter loves the SW Advent Calendars, and managed to bag an X-mas Wing. Christmas has grown pretty secular over the last century, so there are a lot of people who practice other religions who also celebrate Christmas. I suspect the same is true for Halloween (All Hallow’s Eve) and Easter, but it’s not something I have firsthand observations of like Christmas.
@captcrouton:
I think it actually did, but in extremely limited quantities. It was either that or the Castle one (possibly both) where they accidentally shipped a pallet to the US. Rather than ship it back, they allowed LEGO.com to sell it here, but you might have had to call and ask about it over the phone. I wasn’t interested in either, so I never tried to find out anything more specific, but some of the members of my LUG were really excited about them and may have managed to score one of these domestic copies.
@Paperdaisy:
You’ll finish the calendar on the 24th, so you’ve basically got all of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to play the game without having to consider that. After that, the builds are mostly taken from non-Christmas scenes, so it might not feel as weird as it sounds.
@ResIpsaLoquitur:
20 variants of Kai!!!!!!! Also, one each of Cole, Jay, Zane, and La-Loyd. Did I forget anyone?
All in all it's just another brick in the wall...
Usually I'm safe from Christmas stuff until after Halloween, at least.
Not sure how I feel about this. The advent calendars always seem like such a cool idea and then I build them and they're kind of a let-down. Lots of repeated bits, like every year we cannot avoid Yet Another Harry Potter minifig. I sort of wish they'd do other, less popular wizards for a change, and stop with Hedwig (surely someone else's familiar deserves a go?) and the envelope tiles.
I'm a bit burned out on HP and was never a Star Wars fan. Friends tends to be all pretty same-ish every year. I wish they'd do some other themes for a change.
