LEGO Masters is coming to New Zealand in 2022. The search is on to find New Zealand’s most creative LEGO builders.

What would you build if you had access to the LEGO Masters NZ Brick Pit with more than 2.5 million pieces of LEGO?

LEGO Masters NZ is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to put your imagination and your LEGO building skills to the test. Read on to find out more about this exciting opportunity.

Robin Sather — LEGO Certified Professional

The massively popular reality TV series LEGO Masters will be arriving in Aotearoa — New Zealand in 2022. This will give Kiwi LEGO enthusiasts the opportunity to compete for the coveted title: LEGO Master.

Now LEGO fanatics won't just be able to marvel at the epic designs from afar — they'll get the chance to build them under the eye of the series' judge and Brickmaster Robin Sather.

Based in Canada, Robin Sather will soon be travelling to New Zealand to start the hunt to find the best LEGO builders in New Zealand.

“I know that there are a lot of amazing Lego fans in New Zealand, so I'm excited to have the opportunity to showcase your amazing Kiwi Lego builders! We're going have a lot of fun together!” he promises.

Robin Sather is the first-ever Lego Certified Professional — just one of just 21 in the world.

Robin helped to create and develop the LEGO Certified Professional program, as well as the LEGO Ambassador program.

He has had a passion for LEGO since his childhood which has only grown stronger over the years. This has led him to create some impressive designs.

Robin’s company, Brickville DesignWorks, began in the spring of 2004, with the goal of using LEGO bricks and products to produce events, displays, exhibits, and custom creations.

His exhibits have toured prominent Canadian science centres and museums.

Screentime New Zealand

The production company behind LEGO Masters NZ is Srceentime New Zealand.

Based in West Auckland, filming of this show will take place in New Lynn.

Screentime New Zealand and Robin Slather have reached out to the leadership teams of the two RLUGs based in Auckland to assist in the selection process: AuckLUG and All Blocks.

If you are camera shy, there will also be some behind-the-scenes opportunities for people to apply for at a later date.

Application criteria

The application form asks several questions about your love for LEGO.

To get a more rounded picture from applicants, there is one question that asks what you consider to be your most notable non-LEGO achievement.

Part of the LEGO Masters format is to have contestants work in pairs. You will be asked to nominate a companion brick buddy as part of the sign-up process.

By in United Kingdom,

Having been to the beautiful country and met the lovely people, I only hope their show reflects them by being more like the original British version, and not the brash, noisy American (frankly, unwatchable) version!

It'll be like the Australian version, but with more sheep.

By in Netherlands,

I can't apply because I live on the other side of the world (pretty much exactly the other side), but I will watch the show if it becomes available here!

By in Canada,

Having Robin Sather there will be awesome! Have worked him in the past on numerous projects and he is sure to bring both insight, encouragement, and humour to the show :)

By in United Kingdom,

Interesting they aren’t just flying the Brickman Ryan McNaught over - a shorter trip from Aus to Nz, no?
Guess he might be busy with the next Aus series.

Yeah I hope it's like that too and that I'll be able to watch the New Zealand version as the US version is absolutely stupid.

By in New Zealand,

Lot of chatter here in NZ about it.
NZ is a small country - most people in the LEGO community know each other, so it’ll be hard to fly under the radar.
What worries me is their desire for ethnic diversity - not necessarily a bad thing - but that they’ll cover all gender / race / orientation etc bases simply for the sake of it.

By in Netherlands,

They mention one judge/Brickmaster. I do hope they go the route of the Dutch/Belgian edition in its second season and invite a guest judge each episode. That makes the verdicts feel much more a real 'judges decision', rather than 'just one guy's opinion'.

Having two judges on the show is something the US version did beter than the Austrialian version, in my opinion.

I really wouldn’t worry about it at all. We’re living in one of the most ethnically diverse (and tolerant) countries on Earth. I can’t wait to see who enters as we’ll know them all and I especially can’t wait to see how well the NZ Facebook LEGO Group admins manage the pi$$take when the shows are on. Some of last seasons US contestants got absolutely panned which was hilarious.

By in New Zealand,

The Lego community in NZ is very small, those who are heavily involved anyway. Everyone just about knows everyone so it will be interesting..already a few have gotten their noses out of joint over not being approached in the first place to help...

Hopefully this will make it to the UK.
I can't see US series 2 surfacing over here, as series 1 was so abysmal that it lost it's prime time slot before the end of the series!

Isn't there an audition process? You have to be able to build and express yourself. All seasons of Australian LEGO Masters have been reasonably diverse without sacrificing the quality of the show and builds... it's rolling out members of previous seasons that detracted from the latest season here!
