I will down at the Brighton store first thing on Saturday to get my hands on the UCS X-wing and the Han Solo polybag. It is just a shame that the special offers are all so weak...
Looks like some deals to take advantage on. Is it better to buy Jabbas palace now, or wait till it goes on sail on amazon again
Must admit, Lego's reduction prices avent been terribly generous in the uk since Christmas although I'm hoping to buy R2-D2 and with the £30 saved VIPs I have, that's nearly a third off the price.
"on sail"? Seriously?
BJM - you have typos in your profile. It's first wave, not fist. At least the other guy's typo was most likely due to auto-correct. Moral of the story: we all make mistakes :)
I thought it was just the grey matter getting ahead of itself. Jabba's.. Sail Barge.. would explain the sail.
If the discounts end up being similar in the U.S., it looks like a good time to buy the planet sets if you don't have them. Although, 30% off isn't that much when we're talking $10 sets... Most of these discounts are fairly weak, I guess we'll see what the list is for the U.S. perhaps tomorrow.
If I wanted the planet sets I would've bought them already, everything else doesn't even touch the 20%off line I turn down during TRU sales. 15% doesn't even cover the markup from US to Canadian; which is the only polite way I can sum up my anger. I can only pray for better deals in Canada, but that has never done me a lot of good in the past.
Ouch, I was really hoping for some decent discounts, but 7% or 11% just do not cut it. I can get that kind of discount every day on Amazon. Really, really too bad, with a 20% discount on the larger set, I surely would have bought that R2-D2.
I most cases it´s still cheaper at amazon. Still on the fence considering the x-wing though.
Glad I didn't wait for the Han Figure! Pretty terrible offers from TLG, I like how the old republic and ROTJ sets are reduced but not the 'collections', bizarre!
I wonder if it'll work to get the fig on non star wars purchases like it has done in the past? If not, it'll be eBay for me!!
^ Yes it does, I've just ordered 42006 and a keyring and got the Han Solo and Yoda poster added.
Ha, yeah me too. Had some VIP points to use so got the new Superman sets as there was nothing Star Wars I wanted.
Let's hope it comes through.
I was also going to order 42006 until I realised it was £38 on amazon uk (24% off).
Nice offers!
^^ This is the point for me - whilst you can try to target the exclusives that aren't easily available for discounts elsewhere, the "free" polybag isn't really - you need to weigh up the difference between paying at or very close to full RRP for a set (but getting the gift) against buying it at a discount elsewhere (and adjusting for VIP points, etc). Hence there is a likely cost to the Han polybag, but it may be something you are prepared to pay (and may still be cheaper than ebay).
I am definitely going for the PAB order, still considering whether to pick up anything else.
Jabba's Palace is $95.96 at Walmart's across the US right now... Here's hoping the LEGO shop deals are better in the US!
^^^^ I was going to order that earlier (about a week ago) and the price went back up before I decided to. Was so annoyed - ordered now so big yay and thanks for mentioning it.
12 euro saving over the S&H price...
One more day, one more day.
I don't think there is anything on that list I couldn't get cheaper on amazon.
Funny that the B-Wing is not even discounted by a few percent like the other UCS' following all the talk here about that 50% off.
Terrible idea of 'offers', LEGO. Jabba's Palace is the only thing I'd buy but after seeing it on Amazon UK for £67, I just can't bring myself to spend over £100 on it. Probably being greedy but I'd expect to be given two Hans for that price.
Can confirm that I just ordered a City train station and flexi track which came to 51quid and in my basket was the Han Solo and poster plus free shipping. Glad I ordered now instead of waiting until tomorrow. Hope it arrives with everything.
Hob.
Noooooo!
I'm arriving in London on Sunday, and was banking on the offer carrying over to May 5th as it usually does. I did not realise it would start a day early because of the bank holiday.
Anyone think it might still go until the 5th, or am I being too optimistic?
They are shipping to Ireland but you have to spend 55 euro first.
Very poor offers, I am going to pass this time. I was going to go and get the x wing using my VIP points but will wait until the next AFOL day and get 15% off.
I've got two kids. Placed two orders to get two Han minifigures, one for the Rancor Pit and the other the Death Star...had the promotional items cancelled from the second order by LEGO customer services. I contacted LEGO and they've said one per household?! Great if you only have one child! If I was looking to get as many Han's as possible to re-sell I wouldn't have ordered a 255 quid set, would have used multiple addresses with minimum amount orders - I feel LEGO have got it wrong this year. Last year I placed two orders and got two TC-14s, and then at the last minute ordered a UCS Shuttle for myself and ended up with a total of four TC-14s as one was as an 'apology' for late delivery of the shuttle. I've spent about the same amount of money this year and get one figure! Can't wait to explain this one to the kids!!
Bumper savings. Not.
Got a modular building from the Cardiff Lego shop, asked if it qualified for the free Han (ready to say it would have if I bought it online) and was told "absolutely!" Thanks Ty, an awesome starter for a new theme collection, and a very cool little Han. I know it's nothing all that special, but ignoring the hype I do rather like him for what he is. :D
Got to say though, what's up with 50% off the B-Wing in the US, and nothing at all off over here? Shocker!
Bought myself the R2-D2 and with £30 saved VIP, it cost just £103.50, quite a bargain. I'm surprised the B-wing wasn't reduced.
I had a very successful outing in Brighton yesterday, I picked up the UCS X-Wing, a small pick-a-brick cup of 1x1 round tiles in light grey, a small pick-a-brick cup of plant pieces, four more Series 10 Collectable Minifigures (picked at random and all four were different), and finally two of the Han Solo promotional item.
The staff member who served me let me have two, I suppose because they know me quite well in there and I spent quite a bit, but it really should be one per transaction.
Just bought the Town Hall from the Meadowhall branch and they had plenty of Han Solo's left. They were good enough to let me have one.
