Posted by ,

LEGO has revealed the offers available to VIP members next weekend on its Australian store pages.

During the weekend of the 20th and 21st of November, LEGO VIPs can avail themselves with the following:

  • Free 'retro tin' with purchases over AU$309
  • Free 40484 Santa's Front Yard with purchases over AU$229
  • Double VIP points on everything
  • VIP reward centre sale
  • Vintage camera available in the VIP reward centre for 2,000 points

Spend thresholds in other countries will be published tomorrow. You can view a picture of the tin after the break.

I already know I won’t be able to claim that fantastic Vintage camera, if my previous VIP rewards attempts are anything to go by…

By in Spain,

With the currency conversion, the Santa's front yard will require a purchase of 150€. Too much for this set I'll pass.

Love the tin sign x

Wow LEGO. Wow... pathetic."

It does give people a chance to get a unique set without having to hit a spend threshold though. Will be interesting to see how fast it goes, but I wouldn’t mind using 2000 points for it.
Actually this is more what I think VIP should be, rather than constant ‘free’ if you spend x amount.

Neither of the two ‘free’ gifts for me really encourage me to spend, apart from the fact I’m pretty well spent out this year!

By in United States,

i thought the purpose of VIP events was to earn extra points, not have to spend them to get "Free" exclusives.

Gravatar
By in United States,

hoping there's still a 10258 London bus available by that time (still there in the US site). i'll grab that and sure, the camera if i can too

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder if there will be sales on retiring exclusives this year?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I have enough points to get that camera, perhaps even two, but I was considering using those for a € 50,- discount. A € 150,- threshold for the Christmas vignette piece seems par for the course. Wish it had the new (rein)deer figure, but it's cute nevertheless.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope there is something else not yet revealed. These do not inspire me to spend, despite having a long list of products to buy.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That camera being a points redeem sucks for people like me in Australia who gets most of their Lego on sale from general retail stores at 20-25% off. Plus we've only just started getting more LCS in the last two years, will be interesting to see if they have it on their online store.

Would love to get the Santa's front yard, but with the spend threshold so high and a lot of stuff out of stock on Australia's shop at home site, will be waiting to see what happens next weekend, but not looking good this year to be getting anything.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love that "retro tin". Hoping it's an actual painted sign and not a cheeky LEGO sticker.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Currently, the conversion to U.S. money is .73. That puts the threshold at $167. I imagine in the U.S., the target to hit for the freebie will be $150 or $175. I'm just not impressed this year with the free GWP. I guess I got spoiled from the previous years freebies.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Not great honestly. I do really like the retro tin, but the price to get anything is way too high.

Calling LEGO pathetic for not giving away free LEGO the way you want them too sounds awfully entitled.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Aside from the AT-AT set are there any other big releases that day/weekend to help meet the threshold?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love how LEGO just made a camera as part of the trendy Mocs that have been going around of life like cameras.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Similar to last year (though not quite as bad), I just wish more of the high priced sets I wanted were in stock...or available for backorder to use towards getting the high threshold GWPs. No Ecto-1, Santa's Village, etc.

I mean of course it sucks for people who don’t buy from Lego directly- the entire point of rewards schemes is to encourage you to buy from that place ;)

By in United States,

Our daughter recently built up 41346 Friendship Box, and the camera that's included is quite "realistic." At first glance, it might even supersede the Vintage Camera in some respects.

You're entitled to absolutely nothing. If you go into a supermarket, you can't demand free stuff just because you come there everyday. The GWP is a loyalty program and a possible extra incentive to buy LEGO products at their store. If you don't like it, buy something elsewhere. It's business.

Seems like a lot of customers got spoiled with the great freebies of the last few years, which indeed were undeniably awesome. 40484 isn't LEGO's best GWP, however cute it is, but I'm not going to knock it because previous gifts were better. First world problems, people.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the sign. Camera is…. Ok? Little underwhelming for me…

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That price threshold for the Santa set is way too high.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The camera is free since the points to buy it were free. That makes it free with past purchases. I personally like the flexibility that offers. If there is a free GWP that I want, I have to buy something from the site at that time to get the GWP, even if I am not in the market to buy something. As it stands, I can order just the camera (assuming I have the points already), without making any other purchase at that time. But, I am not interested in using my points for the camera. I will probably use my points for cash off my next order.

I don't think you can order the camera without making another purchase.

The fact that you - and me, and many others - have a long list of products to buy means you’ve already been inspired to spend.

Gravatar
By in United States,

When there is a good GWP that is tied to an expensive set or behind a high spend threshold, people complain and say they wish they could just buy that set on its own. When the camera is available on its own, people complain that it should be a free GWP…

By in United States,

So if I’m understanding correctly (and assuming the offers are the same in the U.S.), buying the AT-AT will get you:

- 2x VIP points
- Luke’s lightsaber GWP
- Santa’s Front Yard GWP
- Retro tin sign GWP

That’s quite the haul!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, I won't need to be spending a lot this Black Friday.

Nope. AT-AT is available only a week later. So is Luke's lightsaber. So no double VIP points and probably no tin sign.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That tin (it looks like a tin sign rather than a tin container, right?) looks pretty naff to me.

I'm generally not into into any non-brick LEGO items, but I also dislike fake-worn designs, especially when (as in this case) the wear and tear applies only to the the background and not to the pristine logo... AND I really don't get the design of the logo. Is it entirely abstract? It looks 3D isometric but then the text looks entirely flat.

EDIT - I searched for and found a similar LEGO company logo from the 1940s, so maybe this is an official variant, or a re-imagining.

I dunno, to me the design and the product screams "knock-off tatt".

To avoid posting a 100% negative comment (which I promise I try to avoid doing), double VIP points will help me with some Monkie Kid purchases before they retire ;)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Nah, fake news. There's no way Lego would reveal these to Australian stores. LOL Imagine Lego actually acknowledging Australian and New Zealand FOLs.

Or maybe they are just teasing us by revealing all the great GWPs we WONT BE ABLE TO GET because there's never enough stock, some stores even don't get any.

So the only purpose for the points is to accumulate them to show you are a VIP rather than convert them to something exclusive to VIPs? I’d much rather have something tangible to show for it.

I would rather we could buy the camera. My points are low as I just bought something with them.

Both Camera and tin are not worth it, but it's nice to have double VIP again :)

This is for VIP Weekend, not Black Friday, which is when the AT-AT comes out. Two completely different events.

You really think LEGO would give you x2 VIP Points on a release day? LOL

Gravatar
By in United States,

All - I just wanted to clarify for those not aware or paying close attention to the dates. This article / GWP / 2x Points is for the upcoming “VIP Weekend”. This is not the Black Friday event, and is not the when the AT-AT releases. This is the weekend before Black Friday.

There is NO WAY I am giving up 2K VIP points for a brick built camera !! I totally agree , it should be a GWP !!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder if Lego will suddenly find a lot of these out of stock items and put them back in stock right before Black Friday. If they're not holding anything back, there's not going to be much left in the store besides Vidyo by the time December rolls around.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The thresholds are insane, and my previous experiences with limited VIP rewards have been extremely annoying.
So thanks but no thanks, I'm not going to bother anymore.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow. Very high spend thresholds to get some very mediocre ‘gifts’.

Thankfully it’s a dull event so more money towards the purchase of the crippling lily priced AT-AT

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pretty good opportunity to take the sting out of the Daily Bugle's price tag, what with 2xVIP and two GWPs (which I'll probably sell to convert into a cash discount as neither is really interesting enough to keep for myself). If the vignette had a moulded reindeer I'd be more inclined to keep the set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Agree with the 'meh' crowd this time. GWPs not as nice as last year and higher threshold (UK is a third more spend than AUS (are price so inflated over there?)), plus cost linked to designer program (which have already destroyed next years budget) means a cheap weekend will be had.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the GWP but the difference in the spend threshold is annoying. €170 / US$170 (even with sales tax added) still works out about £20-25 more with a £170 threshold.

BTW...the AT-AT will not be available the 20-21st. so 2xVIP will not be available.

And make sure you throw a little something extra in the event the AT-AT is not shipped right away so as to get other GWPs delivered :)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

And the big question is will the sets I want available for purchase. Last year they were all sold out.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@huw any idea when the VIP redemption starts? Midnight or 9 am?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have a ton of LSW minis parted out and ready to go. Perfect timing. Except not, paycheck-wise

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hoping to get a UCS A-wing that weekend. Would be nice to get this alongside.
Edit: holy cow, just checked the web site, and the threshold for the tin is 250 euro!! It should have a thick solid gold coating for that kind of money. I'm just not going to spend more for that, on moral grounds.

2000 points should be worth about 17 dollars, seems pretty reasonable to me

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am not blown away by these. I do like Free lego, so there’s that. But definitely not an incentive vs just going somewhere else to buy it. Double points is the best part about it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Honestly this is the worst selection and price thresholds I’ve ever seen Lego do.
Hopefully there will be something better closer to Christmas.

Same in the UK. I really hope they've put the out of stock on just to build up a big pile of sets ready for the weekend. I don't know if that's just wishful thinking on my part

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh what a surprise. Titanic now out of stock online and at all Lego stores in the UK, just before the VIP weekend. We shouldn’t even be surprised any longer by this stuff. Lego needs to sort out its stock levels and its availability for these key sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@huw no review on the camera, and its not listed as a set yet?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is that it? Are there no discounted prices on a specific featured set each day? Mickey & Minnie was one last year, Disney train was one of the sets on one of days the year before, for example?

Oh well, LEGO Shop and LEGO VIP have stopped emailing (unsubscribed) me thanks to showing an interest in the Daily Bugle set back in May and the "team" say that I am subscribed, despite a screenshot from lego.com to the contrary. Yes, I regularly check my spam folder and no, there is nothing wrong with my email. Merry Christmas LEGO IT dept, BAH HUMBUG!!!!!
