BFCM offers at LEGO.com

Posted by ,

The Black Friday/Cyber Monday offers at LEGO.com have now been disclosed:

  • Free 40483 Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber when you purchase 75313 AT-AT
  • Free 40484 Santa's Front Yard with purchases over $170/£170/€170
  • Free fleece blanket for VIPs spending over $200 on Cyber Monday only

Plus various other VIP point related offers.

In theory, then, and assuming it's still in stock, if you buy the AT-AT on Monday you'll receive all three.

By in United Kingdom,

Considering none of the sets I wanted to buy during the VIP weekend were in stock (and still aren't) it's a bit difficult to get excited for this. I do like the blanket though.

By in United Kingdom,

So no additional Christmas themed set GWP - Shame. High threshold for the existing one. Annoyingly I was waiting on the expected 30% reduction for retiring sets at Black Friday, but now one of the ones I wanted is Sold Out.
Could be a sad old festive period !!!! :-(

By in United States,

I dont know how I can earn the free fleece if there are no sets at $200 available I want. All Out of Stock

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The free blankets should be for the people queuing outside at midnight on Friday!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

So no actual price reductions on decent sets?
No 2nd Xmas GWP?
Rather disappointing. Glad I took advantage of the 2x point this weekend.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not having a 2nd Christmas GWP set would be a very big disappointment. The local store wasn't aware of any either. They were nice enough to check, but they haven't heard of anything.

Would the Cyber Monday deal be an example of literal fleecing?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There is a GWP Christmas tree for in-store only purchases of £40.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So Lego is admitting that if you spend $200 on Cyber Monday, you have been fleeced.

The second Christmas GWP usually comes in December. We should find out the the Dec calendar is released probably next week.

Question. Does anyone think the high thresholds for the GWP have anything to do with the secondary selling market? Before the sets are even available to receive, EBAY has numerous GWP on their site. Do you think this is LEGO's way of making the thresholds high so you can't pick up many freebies and keep one and place the others on EBAY and get $40 for it? Just curious.

Possibly, but then the high thresholds might also actually have the opposite effect. By making it harder to get the GWP from just buying sets from Lego, people might then be compelled to turn to secondary resellers to get them instead.

I think there are many reasons, least not:
1, Lego is more popular as we know since lockdown
2, they are targeting those new to it who have the disposable income now
3, Greed
4, possible secondary market values. If it makes people buy it, why should they care what happens to any GWP

By in Netherlands,

So same GWP as last weekend, but only single points this time. Poor offering, but that was to be expected given last years offers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know about you guys, but I don't shop at Lego to get tin signs and fleece blankets. Put that stuff as VIP rewards if you have to. Where's the Lego at?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Doubtful that there would be any AT-ATs to be had by Cyber Monday to get a fleece blanket!

Just yet another marketing thing to get you to make frequent purchases (minimum 3) over the two weekends (VIP and BFCM) just to get these GWPs...

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Haha, at this point they're just taking the piss out of anyone shopping from the site.

On the site they do state,
'Black Friday sale on selected sets, 26/11 – 29/11'.
I think you only find out which sets on the day(s).

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Ok, did I get this right... One of the highlighted deals on Cyber Monday is 30% off on a 5 pound discount coupon? Holy smokes! What will people do with the whopping 1.5 pound they save? If it had been 40% off you could buy a Brick Separator, but alas...

This is the only decent news so far, but I wonder what sets are going to be discounted. And I hope discounts are not going to be that cheap 15% they've been running in the last year or so.

By in United States,

Complaints about there not being a second Christmas-related set with purchase this coming weekend have clearly not paid attention to previous years.

Black Friday GWPs are always the same as the VIP stuff the weekend earlier. 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute in 2020, 40338 Christmas Tree in 2019, 40292 Christmas Gift Box in 2018, etc. Each year's second Christmas GWP, such as 40416 Ice Skating Rink in 2020, 40337 Mini Gingerbread House in 2019, and 40293 Christmas Carousel in 2018, come at a different time.

VIP weekend is an "early access" period that also offers double points and a bonus big spend GWP such as the vintage sign this year and the 6346101 and 6313287 Buildable 2x4 Bricks in 2019 and 2020.

My disappointment comes from the VIP voucher offer, which is a big step down from last year. I can get a $5 voucher for the amount of points that would normally get me $3.50. Last year I could get a $5 for $2.50 and a $20 for $10, with one of each for in store and online. That totaled $50 for $25, far better than this year's savings of $1.50.

We've also been conditioned to expect some decent sales on some larger items the last couple years with sales such as 20% off 75244 Tantive IV, 21317 Steamboat Willie, and 10220 VW Camper Van in 2020, and 30% off 21310 Old Fishing Store in 2019.

There are some definite downgrades so far.

By in United Kingdom,

What an underwhelming Black Friday… so for all those that were happy to spend big on VIP weekend AND Black Friday weekend, you get the privilege of a duplicated average Christmas set and a fleece. I mean, the fleece is nice and all that, but come
On, let’s at least have a different Christmas set?!!

Gravatar

Bleak instead of Black Friday.
Spending my money somewhere else.

People didn't even need to pay attention to last year... Santa's Front Yard was advertised as 'early access' last week!

By in United Kingdom,

Pretty poor deals to be honest

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the fleece blanket (not that I need it), but for single points and $200, I'll likely skip it. Like I skipped this past weekend. Just couldn't pull the trigger. Oh well. I've overspent on LEGO this year anyway. And it isn't like they are gifts for family since I'm the only fan in the house.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Guess that clinches it for me — I’ll be getting the AT-AT on Day 1

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm curious, when was the last time any of you would say Black Friday was actually really good? Honestly it feels like it's been mediocre for many years now. Double VIP is nice, and it's what I wait for every year, but it's nothing spectacular and only amounts to the equivalent of 10% off.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want that fleece, but after spending $260 on VIP weekend, I can't justify another $200 purchase

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm glad I stocked up on all the sets I needed early this year. I had a feeling that stock would be bare and didn't want to wait around for some silly GWP to find out. Glad I took care of all that over a month ago!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I just cannot comprehend the enthusiasm of so many of you towards some blanket as a gwp. I like lego because it's fun to build stuff from bricks. Having a piece of fabric with lego logo does nothing for me. The same goes for the metal plaque. I would so much more liked discounts for blackfriday and not some random merch for ridiculously high price point.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@thor96 : couldn't have said it better.
The Black Friday offerings are getting worse every year. And this time TLG is really taking the smeg. Insane thresholds for the most mediocre of stuff ever.

Honestly, and unfortunately @sjr60 beat me to it, the only people who will have a real need for that fleece will be the poor AFO(O)Ls in the UK who stand in line in front of the Leicester Square store in the freezing cold that night.

Tbh, part of what took me into my second dark ages recently was this attitude of TLG to take their customers for granted. But as long as there are enough people who still fall for their shenanigans, things will not change.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Let’s be honest, the AT-AT will be sold out within an hour and after the site crashing several times. I would normally say to just wait. Given TLGs product shortages the last few years, who know when that will be. I don’t want to pay $800 plus either unless I can still get the light sabre also. If I can’t, I’ll just pass for now. Also not surprised about the lack of sales and deals. They can’t even keep sets in stock and it’s not like any other retailers have that good of deals either.

Got the same in the USA - Holiday Tree 30576 for in-store purchases of $40.

Seriously? And I thought in the US there were the best deals to be had.
Even we here get plenty of good deals at nationwide retailers like Amazon, Smyths, MyToys, JB Spielwaren, Steinehelden, Müller, Galeria etc.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Just hope the BF deals won't be too good, so I won't be tempted. Like two years ago when I bought the Disney train for 230 euro with a few GWP.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I for one couldn’t be more excited about this year’s promotions. Although I believe Huw failed to mention the most exciting offer: May the 4th is less than six months away (regardless of what the groundhog does in February).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

People just don't appreciate what a fantastic giveaway the fleece is... Wrap up in it as soon as it arrives. Turn the heating down a couple of degrees, save hundreds of pounds on your gas bill, protect the planet, and negate the need to glue yourself to a nearby motorway.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was going to buy the Tree House this Black Friday which I now see is out of stock!
Looks like I’ll have to travel to a store.

Gravatar
By in France,

I am not cold enough to pay 200 bucks for a blanket...

As if LEGO's black friday sales haven't been pathetic enough.
