City Advent Calendar - Day 3
Posted by MeganL,The first two days have shown us a bus and a car (bus?) wash, so clearly we're going into the microscale builds early. For day three, let's see if that continues.
It's a streetlight, with a letter attached, along with a red and white post. My first thought on looking at the picture was that it's a mailbox, but there's clearly nowhere to post the letter.
This build also highlights one of the challenges for me for taking picture of the microbuilds - namely the wedge plates. It's hard to get it to look straight!
I'll give a couple extra bonus points for the mailbox - while it's not festive on its own, mailing parcels and cards is very evocative of the season.

Simple yet effective. A very festive build
Nice build, but what is the red & white pole? It's not quite a Belisha beacon, nor a bus stop that I recognise.
It's a festive build, but contrasted against the microscale buildings, you have a festive lamp-post that's taller than most of those buildings, and a lantern with a letter that are minifig sized.
It's nice, with some lovely pieces (I do like those new letter tiles), but I'm not quite sure what it's supposed to be?
Still better than the energy pieces from Marvel's Day 2, though.
Is the striped post meant to represent a lighthouse maybe? It's the first thing I thought when I saw it!
Is it not the North Pole?
And the letter is to santa perhaps?

Good call. I like that idea a lot.
It's a Christmasy pole I guess. I like it!

Sounds better than my idea of a lighthouse!
Can anybody tell me how to explain this to my 5 yo kid when I myself am not absolutely getting it what it is...
ah, I guess why do I bother, for sure we are going to rebuild it into a space rocket anyway
@DoonsterBuildsLego:
It’s a barber pole, because nothing says “festive” like using leechcraft to bleed the bad humors out of people.
It's set dressing for the advent calender display, but it's pleasant enough I suppose. Not special, but not horrible either.

Definitely agree with you that it's the North Pole and it's a letter to Santa, but still trying to figure out what it's doing on the side of a street light...

"The post is meant to be the famous "North pole" so y'all can stop criticizing the little build, Saying "What is that pole meant to be" or "its a barber pole.""
...but, but do you realize that 'the famous "North pole" post' is actually located on the SOUTH pole?
Wait... there really is a pole on one of our poles?
I mean, I love a good pun, but some people take it too far;
this sounds like a college joke that got way out of hand!
But ok, we have established the left one is the 'Pole post' or 'Pole pole'
And so the one on the right is a 'post pole'? With some 'pole post' on it?
It’s the North Pole, and that’s a letter to Santa which is usually addressed to the North Pole.
The N Pole is such a good concept, I've added one to my 10275 Elf Clubhouse display so the sign is now pointing to something, plus, I added a red 2x2x2 post box.
@DoonsterBuildsLego:
Hopefully not Rudolph’s tail. We already got that GWP.
I thought maybe instead of being a letter to be mailed, the envelope on the lamppost represents a sign. Perhaps it says “North Pole” and has directions to Santa’s workshop.
