City Advent Calendar - Day 16

Posted by ,

Hard to believe, we're two thirds of the way through the calendar today! We've had three minifigures, four festive builds and a whole lot of microscale builds. Based on our overall theme of the calendar, I would expect that we'll see a few more microscale builds in the remaining days.

And we are not disappointed with another small build! This build for me was a bit of a head scratcher. I'm open to other suggestions, but based on the bright green and orange colour scheme of this build, I think this is 60294 Stunt Show Truck.

Festive watch: Well, since it's not a fire build, the red is gone, but we do have green....

Half of this calendar consists of microscale builds and if you don't know the actual sets they are based on, you're often left clueless. I recognized the truck, but to many people this might as well be a train or a tractor. Also, the shaping is off compared to the original set. I dig the color scheme, though.

It would probably look better with the exhaust stacks straight up. What would it look like then?

Although the pyramid part looks odd even with the source material beside it. It's a bit like a train right now...

I feel like the tractor is way to big for the trailer. But it’s nice. And the exhaust stacks look like horns!

Surprisingly generous to give both the truck and the trailer on one day - in fact, the amount of stuff seems pretty fair by far. But the builds... well, that's another story :D this barely resembles the source material, if it wasn't for the colour scheme, I would say it is a futuristic train of some sort. With these more-of-the-same microbuilds I'm looking at this calendar barely as a parts pack at this point.

The bonnet detail it odd, given that that area is flat on the full model. The ramp feels like the wrong element of the trailer to represent too, since there's no microscale bikes to jump it. Something to represent the targets would have been better.

Did Megan Rothrock design this? It kinda looks like a Tragon.

If you fooled around with the colors in Photoshop, it might look red and green. So it's sort of festive-adjacent.

My daughter thought it was a train. Remember when the Transformers toy line started making weird futuristic vehicles (signifying the brand had run out of ideas to me). You picked one up and said, "What is this supposed to be?" I'm pretty sure this is a Decepticon from Cybertron in vehicle mode.

A Decepticon with tires? While it's not unheard of, it is definitely frowned upon!

It's almost a train!
