City Advent Calendar - Day 20

Posted by ,

Part of yesterday's build was rather puzzling, with the inclusion of some minifigure accessories in addition to the microscale build. Maybe things will be clearer after today's build?

Today we have Shirley Keeper, the sanitation worker from LEGO City Adventures. She's dressed in her PPE with a high vis vest over her blue coveralls. I love her expressive eyes and huge glasses as well as her beauty mark. Unfortunately her head does not have an alternate expression.

Shirley comes with a bottle and a broom, both appropriate accessories for a sanitation worker. So would the shovel from yesterday, but I'm still mystified why it was included then.

They're including some good characters this year.

would have made more sense to include the bottle yesterday as it can be recycled in one of the containers carried by the truck, and then today the minifig could have gotten the shovel to go with the broom and the dump to clean up

So Shirley is an alcoholic? It's Christmas, I can't blame her, not really.

The printing looks a little thin on that high vis, but otherwise a good fig, and again generous with accessories

Shirley is the LCA-Character I can relate to best, only if my hair was as fabulous as hers!

I like the hair and face, just wish they gave her a Christmas sweater. Then at least the day-time drinking would look more festive. :-)

Oof. Red glasses on a redhead?

Why not? That woman has fire, especially when you're her target. Fits into the theme.

Hope she isn’t drinking on the job.

I'm more curious as to why the designer deviated from the established pattern and didn't find a way to clip the shovel onto the build (like the handcuffs on the police car; syringe on the hospital; etc.).

@jkb:
With hair that color, green is best, blue and purple are good, but bright yellow/orange/red is not a good idea. Brown or burgundy might even be okay, not those glasses are too close to primary red.

By in Netherlands,

For the last 3 years the LCA Freya character already has green glasses with darkred hair so LEGO picking something different here made sense , despite the orange hair.
