By in Australia,

I love love LOVE how the chilli girl comes with a carton of milk.

(true story. I was having Vietnamese once, because I thought I'd have a nice healthy lunch, and there were pieces of a red vegetable, floating in the soup. I thought, ooh, it's capsicum, and I like capsicum, so I downed them without thinking twice about it. Moral of the story? It wasn't capsicum. I had to rush over to a milkshake bar next-door to get some dairy, immediately. So much for my healthy lunch, but I consider it a valuable lesson)

Also, the ice and moon warriors? Them with the bard and acorn boy (?) makes for an interesting fantasy theme.

By in United States,

Very colorful! Purple spacesuit is sure to raise some eyebrows. Love the toucan piece. Trash panda, haha!!

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

Typo in the line -- You can view high resolution

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Oh boy, oh boy, I can't wait!

Only Raccoon Girl is a downer; we just had fox girl, which had almost identical contents =( At least, a gender swap would have been nice.

For 2023, I'd like to get Inspector Trenchcoat and a Paperboy/-girl! How about something from southeast Asia?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Most importantly, Purple Alien gives us a way to make a purple LEGO spaceman!!

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Awesome bird

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Gimme that bard.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That is a great line up. Some nice accessories and animals, too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The robot figure reminds me of Junkbot from the old LEGO game(s).

I know there was a unprinted version in one of the Ninjago modular buildings, but we need an actual, printed Junkbot figure that's not just in one mega-expensive set!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Series 23. Just the animals.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also, anyone wanna bet how many Chili's Restaurant MOCs we are going to suddenly spring to life? After all, they have a giant red Chili pepper in the logo, and most locations of this eatery chain have a sign somewhere on the premises exactly like the piece used.

I have a feeling this part is going to sell like hotcakes on the aftermarket.

So, if it wasn't capsicum than what was it? Because any chilli pepper has capsicum in it, that's the spicy stuff.

Floating in your 'soap' prompting you to grab a 'diary'? If there were peppers (capsicum in Australian English) or chillies in my soap, I might record it in my diary too... I think you mean 'soup' and 'dairy' respectively ;~P . By the way, while dairy does alleviate the hotness of spicy food, acids like lemon juice or vinegar work better.

I agree this series has much to offer fantasy enthusiasts :~)

True but there are no oxygen tanks in purple or '70s/'80s style helmets in that colour (like the ones in Benny's Space Squad).

This minifigure is already being called a 'snailien' online though for some reason I think he should be called Dave :~P

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I like them all, but I love the bard!! How many will I buy? Perhaps 10 or more, like the jester 71007-9 in series 12

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I never manage to get the ones I want, because I suck at feeling the blind bags' contents. I always feel weird feeling up blind bags in a toy aisle. :'-) But the pony and husky will be easy finds. The bard, toucan, and wheelchair figure also look really nice, but probably harder to pick out.

Actual cut-up chillis. Was I not clear?

Capsicum is another name for a bell pepper. Capsaicin is the spicy stuff in chilli peppers.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My favourites are all four from the final photo; Ice Warrior with husky, Moon Warrior, Purple Alien and Robots, plus the little mushroom that comes with the Acorn kid is very cute.

I rarely buy single figures though, so probably won't get any of these unless I come across them discounted for clearance.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I feel like it's been a very long time since I was really excited about a standard CMF series. Some of the fantasy characters don't feel exciting enough, and after Series 14, there haven't been enough horror characters for my tastes. The new parts tend to feel concentrated toward costume suits and animals, which is fine, but aren't often the pieces I feel motivated to collect. However, there are still some nice ones here. I love the Masters of the Universe vibe with the moon warrior, the robot welder is positively adorable, and the alien is a fun idea. I also think the bard is a great idea.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Glad to see that aliens are now being accepted into the Classic Space workforce!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gotta get the Robots for sure, maybe the suit ones as well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So we got squirrel girl, winter soldier, thanos, Ultron and Moon Knight? This sounds like another MCU series in disguise.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like the girl with foal. Can we get boy with goat next? CMF might be a good place to re-introduce the goat since they won't give it to us anywhere else.

Slave labour. Snailiens, like dolphins, look happy to our eyes even when they aren’t :~P

@CCC said:
"I don't even like the clothes of the bard. They have tried to make it look like the old forestmen, but added too much to the decoration. Especially the boots, they look terrible when printed and dual molded as LEGO cannot manage to print all the way to the edges leaving gaps. Just give us dual molded legs and no print."
Do you think the bard should have been more like the one I MOCed and posted online five years ago in the centre of this picture: https://brickshelf.com/gallery/AmperZand/Fantasy/battle_of_the_bards.jpg ?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Again, such an awesome collection! Time after time in the CMF series they come up with such original characters!
If only there were dark purple air tanks and motor/space helmets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want the alien, ice warrior, and girl with foal.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not the Ice Warrior I would've liked, but Lego probably doesn't still have that license.
You give us a purple Classic Space torso, but no air tank or helmet to match? Lego, you tease. Oh well, at least we get the ray gun in a new color.
Love that racing wheelchair and the squat robot's build. I also like the touch of the bard's two GP.

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

The man who plays the mandolino

Gravatar
By in Germany,

A rather mediocre series, imo.
As a city and fantasy fan, I probably only get the bard, birdwatcher and girl with foal.

Too bad the Ice warrior has a, sorry, silly snowflake on it's shield, which makes it completely useless for me.
Also the moon warrior just leaves me puzzled. What is this supposed to be or to be used for? Imo, a competely wasted slot in this series...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Some useful ones in here; I wouldn't mind picking up the birdwatcher, the acorn boy, and the girl with the foal, at least. I wonder if the chile suit girl has a printed torso, like some of the previous food-costumed minifigures. A shirt with chile peppers would be nice.

The moon warrior seems to be a reference to 1980s action fantasy toys and their cartoons, particularly He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The sharp cheekbones, tacky colors, and pseudo-medieval theme all line up with that aesthetic.

Gravatar

The trio Moon Warrior, Purple Alien and Robots is a must have for me

Gravatar

The bard is so simple, but the craving for the castle is real.

Gravatar

Fly agaric mushrooms have made their return to Lego. Those tripping mushies will be populating my Winter Village elf clubhouse and Santa sleigh next year!

Moon and Ice Warriors deserve a fantasy theme of their own.

To me it looks like the alien might’ve made that space suit himself! Got a brand new color and some fancy tech on it to boot! My head canon is his suit is a sort of mech that allows him to interact with the world like a human - hence the new decorations on the space suit.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Somebody says Ice Warrior, I think Doctor Who

Gravatar
By in United States,

Personally, I like how out-there the Moon Warrior is! My head canon is that she’s a mysterious figure who probably is an indirect ally to the Classic Space astronauts. She’ll help fight off Blacktron or repel invasions on earth, but oddly never sticks around for very long. One minute she’s there, the next she’s gone.

I also like the robot. It’s just adorable! I’m also going to see if I can modify The Bard so he will look like a blue forest men. That should shake things up some.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This looks like an alright series. I think the last one was better, but this still has some good figs. Some of these are a solid pass like chili pepper girl and ice skater. Others I want just for a part or two like the snalien torso and arms, robot arm, wheelchair racer arms, and raccoon girl legs. All of the others look pretty good! My favorites are definitely moon warrior and Ice warrior although honorable mentions go to foal girl and bard. I really like the birdwatcher for all of her different parts, but the final product looks thrown together. Her legs look phenomenally versatile though. I'm glad they're finally doing midlegs in the series with foal girl and acorn boy.

I just realized the husky has blue eyes!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are all great! And four of them will easily work in our medieval village, I feel pretty fortunate for so many.

I guess Jetze Plat, world best paratriatlete and handbiker, must be so excited to see himself refigurated as a LEGO-minifigure!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm happy to see new colors for the foal and Forestman hat. TLC has already released the short bendable legs in dark blue and dark green, but it's still nice to have more of them. I'm curious to see what the acorn boy's green cape looks like in the back. From the edges that we can see on the side, it looks like it, very fittingly, is supposed to have the same shape as an oak leaf.

Edit: Upon further examination of the acorn boy, I think that his head will only work in conjunction with his acorn hat. His face print is so far down on the head that using the head with other hats or hair will make his face look abnormally low.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool series. I'm still waiting for a Hockey Goalie. Lego can take some inspiration from Frederik Andersen and his lego themed masks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Chili and raccoon or me, pass on the rest as CMFs have simply gotten too expensive. And even then, the racoon is really just a recolour of the fox with disappointing accessories. Would it have killed them to include something more original than another sack?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Purple space torso! But the consensus is there are no tanks or helmets out there to match? Alas...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Damn, damn, damn, I was going to stop collecting these, but they're good, aren't they? I guess I'm hooked.
I suppose I could make space in the display cabinet if I removed the German footballers, or the Unikitties.
At least it's only little plastic toys, not booze or gambling.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

But is it actually a bard? Shouldn’t it be a minstrel, what with the lute and all. Surely a bard would be more Shakespearey?

Gravatar
By in United States,

This has the highest percentage of characters that I really want in a LONG time. ...except it's SO HARD to find these bags in stores these days. Where's the best place to just buy a complete box? I have a couple friends I could likely split it with.

Think Bard is now a catch-all term for anyone who plays music in a fantasy/medieval setting. I blame D&D.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm somewhat surprised nobody has yet said "I want a pony!" or some variation of it.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Ice Warrior and Wolf for sure my fav. He can hunt down Abdominal Snow Dude hiding in my Winter Village.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Uh... yet again I thought I could pass a series, but it probably won't...

As a big chili-head, I simply can't resist that Chili Suit Girl, nice addition to the S2 Mariachi!

Also bright blue forestman cap? I know it's not the original mould from 1987 but just gimme, gimme!

The longer I look at that 'Moon Warrior', the more I see a Night Elf from Warcraft 3 in her...

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

The toco toucan is amazing! One of the most recognizable bird species from Brazil, although it can also be found in other countries of South America. Added to the want list!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Excellent as always. I'm really happy with the variety and quality of animals Lego is including in the CMF line!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Bard 71032-3 - Toss a coin to your Witcher!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I expected LEGO to put out a purple Classic Spaceman from that advert they put out for December 2020, but wasn't expecting it like this!

I wonder how many people will tear off it's printed arms for blank ones to make it more authentic. I'd never do that 'cause it can crack the torso, but you know someone will!

Gravatar
By in United States,

That alien is adorable! Unfortunately the only figure I really like in the series.

Shakespeare is called the Bard for his poetic skill, but "bard" is a catch-all for any lyrical poet who sings stories of legends and famous people, from a court musician to a freelance minstrel.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Super obscure, but I am totally grabbing a few Acorn Boys to make some fairy LEP characters from the Artemis Fowl franchise. Perfect torso!

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

I'd buy the Girl with Foal minifigure. I love the torso design and the beanie+hair new recolour. The foal is a bonus.

Things I'll consider buying off bricklink would be the toucan and the lute.

Yes-- there's been a new mid-length articulated leg size for a little while, making its debut simultaneous to the current incarnation of the Harry Potter/Wizarding World theme. They're 1.5 studs on the back and can sit on two rows of studs while being shorter than the adult height.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Roommate just pointed out that the logo on the Bard's coins is the same as the old 375 yellow castle - which is a really nice touch!

I also love how the torso is a blend of the two styles of forestmen prints.

@Zordboy:
Capsicum is a genus if plants that produced fruits that are loaded with capsaicin. A bell pepper is a capsicum fruit, but so is a naga morich, which is the only naturally occurring pepper that measures over 1 million Scoville Heat Units.

True story: Before living in New Orleans (where he learned that “spicy” can also mean “flavorful”), a college friend of mine used to like really hot stuff, and would even offer to match people shots of whatever they wanted to drink vs him doing shots of Tabasco Sauce. Near where we attended college, there was a restaurant called Steak N Shake, which included in their table condiment selection a bottle filled with tiny (maybe 1”x1/2”) pale green whole peppers, and a liquid that would absorb the flavor and capsaicin from the peppers. To flavor your food with it, you’d simply sprinkle a few drops on your food. He would pop the top off and sneak a few of the peppers out to snack on.

I told a former girlfriend this story one time while the two of us were eating there, and she didn’t think it was that big a deal. That’s the only time in my entire life I’ve seen someone order a slice of plain, untoasted bread at a restaurant.

@Murdoch17:
I was thinking more along the lines of how I had to brickbuild the Hot Pepper from Teen Titans Go! Also, I was thinking about how this would look with my favorite minifig head.

@ToysFromTheAttic:
I find the easiest way to disarm weird looks for palping CMF packets is to offer to find what the other person is interested in buying. Does wonders if you can actually deliver, and if I’ve just gotten started it usually involves very little effort because I’m identifying most of the minifigs I reject.

@CCC:
The skater is probably intended to be the other half for pairs figure skating.

@domboy:
“Chonga the goat-boy's in the village again...”

I will be absolutely shocked if anyone gets the reference without looking it up first.

@Roloff:
Danju of the Jelly Bean Knights did have a dark-purple modern helmet. Because I used most of the body with a different helmet for something else, I actually have quite a few ready to go. Somewhere...

@Hotzenplotz:
Don’t worry, the Moon Warrior is just a really sneaky way to hook up people who want to make really ritzy outhouses for period mansions.

@TeaWeevil:
Minifigs tend to be a bit on the chunky side. I don’t think they’d be able to wear a Chile suit unless it stood 20x taller than they do.

@quixotequest:
That mushroom appears to be a cannibal, if you catch my meaning...

Ha! Clever! Of course, by using the lowercase "c," I was using a regional variant of chili/chilli. But it's still funny!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who-ever designed the living mushroom with acorn boy must have been ingesting "special" mushrooms at that time. This does beg the question however: "Can a mushroom get high by eating a fellow mushroom, and would that be considered cannibalism by his fellow Fungi?"

Much like "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Pop?", the world may never know...

Whoever came up with the novel idea for the cinnamon-sugar squares who eat other as an ad for a kids cereal must be a fan of the idea behind the Thunderdome from the Mad Max film franchise ("two men enter, one man leaves!"). That, or they are a cliché company executive who most likely focus-group-tested the idea a lot, got a result from it all, and went with their idea anyway.

Kinda like the Galidor, Prince of Persia, Vydio and a bunch more themes from Lego probably were!

Gravatar

@Murdoch17:
I think they’re amusing. Like most commercials, it has little to no influence on what I end up buying (the cereal’s okay, but not something I would regularly buy, even if I ate much breakfast cereal). I feel they were born of the same place as the Minions.
