Finally... Amazon sells LEGO in Canada
Posted by Huw,
Amazon has started selling LEGO in Canada this week and we've wasted no time in getting our technology working to bring you Bargain Watch alerts for Amazon.ca.
As you'll see from the first alert below there are already some great >30% discounts to be had. You can see everything that's discounted on the full Bargain Watch list.
Happy shopping!

Thanks for the update! This is great
Alas few, if any, will they ship to the UK
It's about time, Lego.com isn't going to be happy
^ Oh, I don't know - availability via Amazon.ca should get LEGO into the hands of more people, which will in turn hopefully result in more LEGO fans, which will drive sales etc. etc.
^ Granted, but price wise their will be some cheaper prices than Lego.com and TRU here in Canada so they may loose some sales that way. What irks me about Lego.com is they charge provincial sales tax despite the fact that they are shipping from the US warehouses.
aboooouuuutttt tiiiimmmmeeeee
LEGO won't lose sales - every sale is ultimately a LEGO sale regardless of whether the product is bought direct from LEGO (the minority) or a retailer like TRU, Amazon etc. (the majority) whom LEGO supply.
I'd predict that availability of LEGO via Amazon.ca will grow the market in Canada.
This is great news! Never understood why they didn't do this long ago, but I'm a happier AFOL now.
Hey Huw, I know that ages ago you added the US site to your European Bargain Watch page.. and then changed it to be an option to view it (or not) which is great. Can you please do the same thing for Amazon.ca? It would really help to see if Canada happens to be selling a particular set for cheaper than any of the Euro sites. I assume its probably not much of a big deal to set up since the other sites seem to just populate their own info anyway.
What I really love about that page is that you can toggle on/off the different Themes with the Theme Selector. It's a lot better and easier to loo at than the general Amazon.ca bargain watch page, because that lists stuff whether you care about it or not.
Pretty Please?
^ That's the next job, bear with me...
^^ Done.
I'm thrilled to see Amazon.ca selling Lego, and it's great that you jumped on this so quickly. Fantastic!
I could be mistaken but it appears to me the that your new Amazon.ca RSS Feed might not be listing the correct articles. I'm seeing things like "Philly Brick Fest 2014 [Events (USA)]" and "WH Smiths now selling polybags [Shopping (UK)]".
^^ Quick work, Huw - the man's a human dynamo !
I'm surprised at the disparities between US and CA prices; for some reason I expected them to be more similar.
^^ Er... I'd forgotten about the Amazon.ca RSS feed, it won't be working yet! I'll see to it shortly.
^ Either that, or my code is so well written that adding an extra country was a 5-minute job :-)
The Amazon.ca RSS feed is now working.
Great stuff. Better sales than TRU, no mark-up. It's tough, because I'd like to buy everything from the LEGO store but simply can't afford to pay full price on many sets. VIP points are nice but only work out to a future 5% 'cash back'. Amazon will probably get the lion's share of my lego money.
@DrDaveWatford: The standard CDN prices are typically about 20% higher across the board than US. TRU tacks on another 20% and suddenly... still probably cheaper than some parts of Europe I'm sure; but painfull enough to drive many of us across the border for big purchases!
PLease Amazon sells LEGO in Greece
Woo hoo!! So happy...and it looks like their Super Saver free shipping deal applies to some sets as well! AWESOME.
Thanks for the update Huw!
I was so happy to read the news about Amazon.ca finally selling Lego however, almost all of the prices that are in the watchlist that links you to the Amazon.ca website are incorrect. Most of them are are the same price as Lego.com or at local retailers. There are so few sets on sale. Most have a sale of a $1 or less...not a real bargain. My bubble burst...
^ The last refresh of prices was hours before you posted your message, so many of the best deals will have sold out by now and thus appear 'wrong' when you click through. Prices should hopefully be refreshed four times every 24 hours, so the key is to check the listing shortly after each refresh so you don't miss the best bargains... 30% discounts still available on the two Galaxy Squad sets at time of posting, though....
@shaase - shop.lego.com doesn't charge me PST (which has recently gone up in MB to 8%) - just 5% GST. Maybe something is different in Manitoba?
This is great news. I certainly look forward to getting some bargains. I am going south of the border for summer vacation, so some deals may also be made there.
Thank you again, Huw and DrDaveWatford for bringing another great marvel to the LEGO buying scene.
Woohoo, how did I miss this? (working late pushing out a release before Canada Day - that's how! d'oh)
@Huw RE: RSS Feed. Thanks a bunch, Huw.
@shaase - i've often run into online ordering that charges me my provincial tax. For instance, I ordered some merchandise from Ontario. They did not charge me Ontario tax, just Alberta. I get charged only my Alberta tax from LEGO store, or ordering wii points on the console, or whatever. I do not know all the details... but generally ordering online you will/should get charged your province/states tax on orders, as opposed to the tax of the company's state location.
