August Daily Mail promotion: full details
Posted by Huw,
We can exclusively reveal that the next Daily Mail LEGO promotion will take place on August 17th to the 25th. The sets available are as follows:
- Saturday 17th: 30260 Lone Ranger Pump Car
- Monday 19th: 30240 Star Wars Z-95 Headhunter
- Tuesday 20th: 30105 Friends Mailbox
- Wednesday 21st: 30222 City Police Helicopter
- Thursday 22nd: 30108 Friends Summer Picnic
- Friday 23rd: 30251 Winzar's Pack Patrol
Quite an interesting selection, although all have been available before somewhere in the world. It's good to see that girls have not been neglected this time round.
In addition, on the two Sundays, you can claim a free Speedorz: 70100 Ring of Fire or 70105 Nest Dive. To get hold of these, you'll need to cut out the tokens from both Sunday 18th and 25th papers, and pick-up at Toys R Us (only) on Sunday 25th August or Monday 26th August.
The small print for the polybags, as before, is:
To claim your toy just cut out the voucher from the Daily Mail on the designated day only, e.g. Saturday 17th, and take it to a participating WH Smith (high street only) or Easons (in Northern Ireland) store. While stocks last. In exchange you will receive a free LEGO toy. One toy per original voucher, per customer only. Photocopied, damaged or defaced vouchers will not be accepted. Do not attempt to redeem this voucher against any other product or promotion.

Good news, nice to see a TLR poly in there and the Star Wars one.
Good to see but I'm on my hols then so a right pain :(
By the way, Speedorz Ring of Fire is 70100 (not 71000)
This seems like a pretty good selection of polybags to me. Excellent news!
Right on the week of my birthday! :-D
Shame I already have half the ones I'm interested in though :-(
It seems like LEGO is having a bit trouble with their SPEEDORZ. I see them for halfprice everywhere, and now they are almost "handed out" in a newpaper.
I wonder if they sell really bad - or LEGO had too big expectations (read: produced too many)?
Lame. Lone Ranger pump car the only thing I'd ever pay money to The Daily Fail for and it's out when I'm on holiday. Makes me hate The Daily Mail even more :p
Seems like a nice set of sets overall.
There's another Lone Ranger minifigure though, just in case anyone who has bought a Lone Ranger set hasn't already got one...
I agree with the Cap'n, it's a good selection. Huw, the indica confuses me slightly; "one toy per original voucher, per customer only" - does this mean we'll only be permitted to buy a single paper at a time?
Bit 'meh' personally. Was hoping for the Tonto or some LOTR/Hobbit somewhere in the mix... but maybe closer to Christmas?...
Will probably pick up a few days, but not going to bust a gut on this one.
Dang I'm on holiday for all of those days :/
Darn, I already tracked down the Lone Ranger pump car, so that's a month too late. Don't really want any of the Friends sets, although I do need a wolf or two for my Chima collection... still thinking about the helicopter.
As an aside, it is interesting that the Speedorz-things are being offered free. Guess they might not have been as popular as Lego were hoping for.
I wish they did something similar on this side of the pond!
@ccc, thanks for clearing that up. I'd never noticed it on the Sun promos (although I can't honestly say I was looking!)
@zordboy, the Helicopter was a Lego Store giveaway in the last six months or so - chances are, there's quite a lot of them around already if you don't want to pay shipping costs from halfway around the world.
So you will need to go to WHS for each poly? Seems a bit annoying to me if you want all of them.
Hopefully they do what they did last time and let people send away the vouchers for the poly's
Yes, desperate for that pump truck!
Why, o why is there not a dutch Daily Mail....?? :-(
Four of those I don't own yet, nor have I seen them in CND Trus. Certainly hope they'll be showing up during the holiday season, like a good many have before in the past.
I really think LEGO Overestimated the appeal of the Speedorz, also they may have shot themselves in the foot because they charge much more money for the things compared to the cheaper Ninjago Spinners, hence why they're having such a hard time selling them.
Even in Canada at 15$ and change a piece Wal-Mart is having a hell of a time moving them, here's hoping for a Rollback on those sometime during the rest of summer, early fall, I love the Chima Mini-Figures, but don't see myself buying too many of the sets, and as always I'm a sucker for collectible cards of any sort, but not 20$ a set when you have an assortment of 9-10 to grab.
You folks have some great Polys to get though, some days I wish I could move into the UK, then I remember how ruddy expensive it is and the fact it'd probably be just as difficult to find a job there as it is in Canada.
^ Expensive?! We had this debate the other day: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=7194. Canada is WAY more expensive for everything except gas and real estate!
Z-95 Headhunter.
Now let's see if Ireland is included again this time. Usually we get the same promotions as the UK but we missed out on the two-day give away (was it the Mirror?) a few months ago...
@Duq - no, that was the Mail, too, sorry....:-(
Oh I am delighted by this - I have been looking for those Friends polybags for ages. These are released in my birthday week too, whoever thought the Daily Mail would end up giving me a little birthday present!
the only one i like is the chima one. because i hate friends,i don't bother with the lone ranger,i don't really like
star wars and i have the city one. plus i don't like whsmiths much they charge you for bags and everything is
overpriced.
Yeah, but it means being seen holding a Daily Mail ...
I'm really happy to see the Friends and Lone Ranger poly's in this promo. :)
Why do people whine about the content and views of the newspaper that's giving away the free Lego? Hand your money over in WHSmiths, get the polybag, leave the paper with them - simples!
Hmm....the Lone Ranger is looking decidedly unarmed in that picture - looks like his pistol has been deliberately left out.
Someone there who'll send me over a Lone Ranger poly bag? I'll pay the shipment.
Regards, Peter.
Hmm.. i like them all..
If there's anybody in the UK who would be willing to get all 6 of them for me.. i'll pay for the shipping and the newspaper...
A pretty good selection for us. However the nearest TRU is 22 miles away, so a 44 mile round trip to get a free Speedorz! Not going to happen. This approach is fine in the cities and large towns but TLG need to remember not everyone lives near a TRU...
Fantastic news, I have a TRU near me... shame the staff are horrible and are very strict on the 1 per customer limit.
Last time I waited for a random stranger to exchange a extra voucher for me.
Looking forward to my daily drive to Whsmith's , not looking forward to having a massive amount of the Daily Mail to recycle at the end of the promotion also the cost of petrol.
For those that are unable to get to Whsmith or TRU it might be worth collecting the vouchers as the last time they ran this promotion (Gandalf/Car) my Mother complained to the Daily Mail that she was unable to get to a Whsmiths due to her being disabled. She sent the vouchers and a week later Gandalf and the car arrived. The power of complaining !
lucky for me, i already have the ones that i want (2 city and 2 lone ranger)
These days people price promo bags so high (for whats in it) that i am exited when there is no one i want.
Orodes - Having to go to WH Smith for each polybag is exactly the same as it has been since the days of The Mirror LEGO Promotions (when there was an 'official' send off option). For The Sun promotions and the last Daily Mail one, you have had to go every day, although you have been able to send off the vouchers, that is only supposed to be if the store has run out.
I can help anyone out with these as well. Just shoot me a PM and sure you will have something I need as a trade :D
This will sound like an extremely dumb question, but what is the price of one daily mail paper? I'm going to the UK and might be able to catch a couple of these, so can someone tell me the price of the paper itself? And where to buy one?
^ Less than £1 and WH Smiths, which is a newsagent with branches in nearly every high street.
@ Odeinoichus, the Speedorz are more expensive than Spinners because they have much more pieces and they have different challenges in each set, unlike the Spinners. I'm not trying to trying to offend any Ninjago fans, but it is true.
@Telcontar, I completely agree.
Anyone in the UK able to help out an AFOL in the colonies? Send me a PM.
