LEGO Muppets is on the way
Posted by TheBrickPal,
LEGO has posted a new teaser image on social media, featuring famous Muppet Show host Kermit the Frog emerging from behind a curtain.
I suspect more is to come in the following days...
What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

Kermit is adorable, I already need him!
The cat’s well and truly out the bag by now, I think they’ve even been purchased in stores overseas.
Anyway, I think they all look fantastic. A bit of a step up from the Looney Tunes series. I’m a bit disappointed Fozzie has no rubber chicken, but it’s a minor complaint for what looks to be a brilliant CMF series.
Very excited for this!
It’s time to get things started…
The minifigs are already being shown and sold at https://www.minifiguremaddness.com/
Cool, very cool. But I’d willingly skip all of these if LEGO would release an official Grover minifig.
I will buy all of them. Maybe day one.
I hope we get a series 2 where one of the Minifigures is Kermit making his angry face.
I don’t know why. It always cracks me up!
Also, I’m actually very excited for these! The Muppets are fun on their own, but their versatility makes them easy to slip into any MOC with them not being too out of place. Just find parts for a different outfit, and you’re golden! I wonder if Pirate fans will start making Easter Eggs referencing Muppets Treasure Island.

Let’s hope Minifigure Madness won’t be getting phone calls from lawyers anytime soon. That, or maybe they’re jumping the gun a bit?
This is new to me, and I'm very excited about the news! Now I need to track down the leaks. Wakka wakka!
GONZO!!!!!!!
Murny mrnuy murnuy murn.
Meep meep meep meep!
Can't wait. This'll be the first time I be purchasing the complete set
Time to upgrade my 40410
Omg, I am going to be in so much trouble!
Now we need a ‘pigs in space’ set.

Why, what did you do to Kermit?
I would have loved a Dr. Teeth minifig too. But I can't complain, and I'll probably pick up the whole set.
Absolutely over the moon about this series!! I'm crossing my fingers that they sell well enough to justify a future series, or better yet, a full theme in the future.
Ordered a set from Minifiguresplus the first day they were available for pre-order.
Where I live, I'm sure nobody will buy them. Do kids even know who these are or only nostalgic afols?
I know that pictures of these leaked some time ago, but I am still so excited to see an "official" teaser from TLG. The Muppets (Kermit, in particular) were part of some of my favorite childhood memories, and I cannot wait to purchase these!

Doesnt this apply to most Lego releases? Home Alone, Sonic - even Harry Potter.
Muppets have a very special place in my heart and always will. I can’t wait to add these to my LEGO collection. Long, long overdue.
This is what we call the Lego Show!
With all of the leaks out there I thought these were officially announced already for some reason. I guess time blends together.
Anyway, they look fantastic. I'm not sure why Looney Tunes looked so poor compared to these molds. *shrug*
I pre-ordered them a few weeks (month?) ago. Can't wait to put them in sealed bags into a sterilite container and never look at them again, just like all of my other figures.

Nostalgia may play a part, but it’s not like the Muppets have ever gone fully away for all that long. In the last ten years alone there have been three different Muppets TV series plus a series of shorts, two Muppets television specials, and a Muppet theatrical film (note these are all just projects using these “core” Muppet characters and don’t include things like Fraggle Rock, Sesame Street, etc.).
I wonder if they'll look any different when revealed than they did when they leaked like 2 months ago...
yesss muppets!! Gotta catch em all!!
What?! This a big surprise to me. How exciting!

Well, in our family's case, the kids' parents ARE nostalgic AFOLs who are raising them to appreciate and enjoy the things that we did at their ages. So our kids, ages 4 and 6, definitely like the Muppets, and Harry Potter, and Home Alone, etc. Sometimes, I have to buy multiple copies of a nostalgia-fueled LEGO set just so the kids and adults aren't fighting over it!
After the news yesterday about Lego partnering with Epig* Games, I am really excited for this! As Kermit would say "YYAAAAYYYYY!!"
*deliberate misspelling

It’s probably a regional thing, as I don’t know how prominent the Muppets are internationally. But in the United States they’re very iconic and still have a huge presence in pop culture. There aren’t too many kids and adults alike that don’t at least know who Kermit and Miss Piggy are.
@Somnium:
I tend to slip a lot of pop culture references into MichLUG layouts, ranging from standard licensed IP like this, to original designs like Pennywise (and Poohneywise). The only thing I’ve found kids have trouble with is Marilyn Monroe standing next to the bus stop.
@Blondie_Wan:
Sadly, the Muppets got sold to Disney. Fragile Rock is still Jim Henson, and Sesame Street is Sesame Workshop (formerly Children’s Television Workshop). JHS never owned Sesame Street, but they were hired to do the muppetry, and Henson waived any fees in exchange for ownership of the Sesame Street muppets, and a cut of any revenue they generated. There are a few crossover characters (I know Rolf and Kermit have appeared on Sesame Street), but I believe the Muppets and Sesame Street are considered to be separate entities, and I have no idea how the Fraggles fit into the picture.
It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the Muppets as the minifigures tonight
Exciting stuff. All twelve figures look great, the head moulds are spot on, apart from the shiny finish.

Henson was actually working on selling the Muppets to Disney before he passed, as he knew they would have a legacy there. Fraggle Rock is owned by JHC (and recently had an Apple+ show released).
Lego's quest to personally make sets of every popular IP in existance continues on...
Although of all the licenses they've done I guess the Muppets is one of the more compatible ones with their brand. Despite that the Muppets aren't exactly know for their surroundings (that can be made into sets). So idk if the sets themselves would be all that inspired and worth it despite the minifigs. Unless we get buildable muppets.
I sure hope we get a full range at reasonable price points, as opposed to one big expensive set. I know I'm going to get banned for this--but I'd love a Duplo range as well. Little kids will love it as well. \
Instead of every stinkin' video game, film franchise, and TV show they can get their hands on (including some like Queer Eye, which is not family-friendly, and probably should not have been produced); this should've been a license LEGO should've done years ago. The Muppets and Sesame Street are known the world over (it's also why I rarely criticize the Harry Potter or Star Wars themes). My Dad grew up with Sesame Street and The Muppets (and I still have his old Fisher-Price Kermit doll, dated 1976); so did I. I recently got started on collecting the Corgi Toys Muppets range from the same era.

My Dad grew up with the Muppets and Sesame Street, I grew up with Sesame Street and the Muppets also. However, outside of the original Muppet Babies, I don't think my first real exposure to the Muppets (outside of Kermit's cameos on older Sesame Street episodes) wasn't until The Muppets in 2009 or so. If I recall, for most of my life (basically until it was put on Disney Plus), the original series was on nowhere, but the original films from the '70s-90s were on TV occasionally.
Disney Junior has the Muppet Babies series and their figure line seems to sell well, so it's well known by young kids today also.
Photos of them Muppets Collectible Minifigures were leaked weeks ago. I'm surprised they didn't make the announcement when that happened.
Anyway, I'm very excited for the Muppet CMFs release because I'm a big Muppet fan. (^_^)
I will probably snag a Kermit to go with my Sesame Street set (since Kermit did appear on that show) and maybe 1 or 2 others but I definitely won't be trying to get the whole set here.

As an affiliate of Lego's ambassador network, Brickset and other websites under that banner (like BZPower or The Brothers Brick, etc.) have to feign ignorance until Lego officially begins teasing product via their channels. Its a bargain to ensure these websites get free review copies of sets from Lego, but in exchange they can't report on leaks until they are unveiled by Lego itself. Honestly it can be frustrating as a fan knowing about leaks that the big sites aren't talking about; BUT I think its a fair bargain to ensure they get review copies and can run their websites cheaply without having to buy every single expensive D2C from Lego for the set.
I thought many of the YouTubers were in the same group, but they do seem to be more lenient there... or they have left the program. IDK honestly, its been a long time since I have watched a J2G video so I can't say what his status is with the program or if I am misremembering he was in it.

I first read this as Glover, and I thought, "How would Lego even make a Glover minifigure. I mean, I'm in for a Glover minifig, but want to see how they would make it first."
They should make a Grover figure at some point and the Count, too.
@Fillone:
Feel free to give them all a shot of Testor’s Dullcote. Maybe mask off the eyes first, where applicable.
@KotZ:
I just touched on that with a coworker. It was a bit more complicated. Disney was trying to buy the company, not just the Muppets. When he passed, his son Brian killed the deal, and proceeded to release three of my favorite Muppet movies:
Muppet Christmas Carol
Muppet Treasure Island
Muppets from Space (aka The Gonzo Movie)
Then after a few more years, he changed his mind and let Disney buy just the Muppets (excluding the Sesame Street characters). In an interview around that time, the official claim was that they felt the Jim Henson Company was using the Muppets property as a crutch, and by selling the IP, it would force them to be more innovative with stuff like Puppet Up! - Uncensored. In truth, they’ve only had a few modest successes as a studio since feeding the Mouse. I think Mirrormask is the only feature film I’ve seen from them after the sale.
@ICAbricks:
Brickset plays by the rules. They don’t post watermarked images or links to get to them, and they wait for official announcements. Besides, this specific image probably wasn’t leaked.

just2good is no longer a part of the LAN, I believe. A lot of the really high-profile AFOL YouTubers left the LAN (i.e. j2g and M&R), and JANGBricks was never a part of it in the first place.

I remember seeing the Muppets on TV in the 90's, and if I find this series I will probably buy some of them to my sister who was a huge fan. I think the sales can be successful here in Brazil, not due to kids but parents who watched the show when they were kids, and are not necessarily fans of LEGO.

They have THE PORTABLE DOOR feature coming up, as well as the Guillermo Del Toro PINNOCHIO on Netflix. Apparently a film with S. Craig Zahler was/is in development but don't know the status. They've been selling a lot of TV in the past years. They had THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS and that went over... well... how it did.
Someday we'll find it
the Lego connection
The builders, the MOCers, and me...
Bit weird that they'd do Rowlf, Janice and Animal, but not Dr. Teeth.
Funnily enough my copy of the Sesame Street set arrived today, and I bought it largely to add the rumored Muppet's CMF to it someday
It’s not easy saving green…
I am hoping we get Muppet sets since they invested in making the figure head moulds.

I can think of lots of sets: the Swedish kitchen, Pigs in Space, the lab, the band set ... I could surely go on and on from the way-back memory but it would probably put me on a therapist's couch. I'm down for ANY Muppets set.
The figs are spectacular! Way better than the Looney Toons figs (and I love my Toons, but the figs weren't great). Agree with the previous commentors on the inexplicable absence of Dr. Teeth (and Floyd and Zoot... and Sam Eagle, Scooter, Camilla the Chicken). We really needed 16... including a bigfig- SWEETUMS!!!
Leaks of the full range have been floating about for months now, so I'd say its about time they were finally officially revealed.
Gotta get myself a Waldorf and Stadler.
I wonder if this means the Kermit brick sketch might see the light of day as a set https://www.pinterest.com/pin/its-not-easy-being-green--506514289313520697/
@TheOtherMike:
Rowlf is the original Muppet, predating both Sesame Street and The Muppet Show. He was Henson’s favorite, and was considered to be closest to Henson’s own personality. Kermit may have been his signature character in the public’s eyes, but Rowlf was in the company’s eyes. While they recast Kermit right away, Rowlf remained voiceless for Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island out of respect.
And they’re missing three of the five core members of the Electric Mayhem (Rowlf is not a member), as well as at least two ancillary members (Lips and Jim). Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Rowlf are core Muppets characters, which is nearly half the wave. If they also put the entire band in there, it would have only left two open slots. If (when) this does well, I expect Teeth, Floyd, and Zoot will appear in a second wave, along with Scooter, and some alternate costumes of a few of the core characters. Like Gonzo’s purple suit.
@StyleCounselor:
Camilla shouldn’t be a CMF, but rather an accessory for Gonzo. And in the pic that MM posted, I can see what appears to be a white chicken butt peeking out from behind Miss Piggy’s head (Camilla is standing on Gonzo’s left hand).
@PurpleDave: I was thinking there were more members of Electric Mayhem, I just didn't remember their names and aren't they less iconic? And I knew Rowlf wasn't a member; I was just talking about musically-inclined Muppets in general. (Side note: My spell-checker recognizes "Muppet" but not "Muppets." Weird.)
Swedish Chef, Beaker., Gonzo and Animal -are must haves.
Now I need Fraggle Rock set! With micro, mini and big figures!

I suspect Janice may have been included to have another female character, as there aren’t that many core female muppets, and she’s arguably the least well known of the band members. But perhaps they would make a second series, in which case other band members would be in high-demand.

A second wave should be a no-brainer as far as how to fill it out…so many good options left.

Animal and Rowlf have always been quite prominent on their own (included in Muppet Babies too) and Janice is literally the only other main female besides Piggy so they’d need to include her.
I thought Scooter would be included rather than, say, Swedish Chef but really like them all.
Excellent... Loved The Muppet Show back in the day, and even had big Muppet stickers all over my first car!
Could be the first cmf set I make an effort to get. (although 4 of these cost more than the car I put the stickers on!)

Cool, didn't notice that, and totally agree. That's the same scenario they should have followed for Wile E. and Roadrunner. I would love Camilla to have her Muppet personality, but it seems (from her butt) that she's is probably just the regular basic Lego chicken.
Does anyone know what brick comes with Rowlf for the sheet music?
@monkyby87:
Yeah, there’s only two females out of twelve characters, which, like Loony Tunes, goes back to the ratios found in S2-4. For any followup waves, they can just put Miss Piggy in different costumes and nobody will bat an eye, but looking over the list of known Muppets, they may have to do the same thing with Janice just to keep a 1:5 ratio. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of Muppets material, and I don’t even remember most of the other females, and the few I do are characters like Denise from Disney’s The Muppets, or two of the Cratchet kids and other various bit parts from Muppet Christmas Carol.
The Electric Mayhem consists of the five core members as seen in The Muppet Movie, a few later additions like Lips, and there have been occasional “guest artists” like Clifford from Muppets Tonight. Like Rowlf, form part of the Muppet Show Orchestra, which may be a source of confusion.
Animal is arguably the best known EM member (he gets tons of merchandise, like plush toys and T-shirts, and was even the official mascot of the 1998 US Olympic Snowboarding team), but I knew who Janice, Zoot, and Floyd were long before I realized who Dr. Teeth was (or that Pepper was Floyd’s last name). I think Janice ranks higher in that group than you give her credit for, since she’s the only EM member to have a role in a regularly recurring skit, as one of the nurses in Veterinarian’s Hospital.
@blogzilly:
Not as many as you might think. Alternate costumes for Kermit, Piggy, Gonzo, and Fozzie are pretty much required. If they don’t make any regular sets, the other three core EM members are must-haves. I suspect Nurse Janice would be a shoe-in just due to the lack of female candidates. That leaves four open slots. Scooter seems a logical pick. I could see Rowlf as Dr. Bob for a tenth. I’d hope they could find a way to work both Rizzo and Pepe in, but not as minifigs. After that, the next most prominent characters who aren’t in this wave are probably Sam the Eagle, Bobo the Bear, or Uncle Deadly. Miss Piggy poses something of a problem since she’s the other nurse on the VH segments, but she’s also one of the three cast members for Pigs In Space. Short of going to a third series, or expanding into playsets, I don’t see how we get both VH and PIA, which are probably the two most popular recurring sketches along with Swedish Chef and Muppet Labs.
@StyleCounselor:
They gave her deco consistent with her character design.
@tom8805:
I found another site selling preorders with an image of each individual minifig. Here’s the accessories:
Kermit the Frog - new banjo and a 2x2 macaroni tile w/ rainbow print
Miss Piggy - 2x3 tile w/ print of a Miss Piggy poster
Beaker - walkie talkie with a 1x2 tile w/ redlined dial & rheostat
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew - flask w/ dk-pink “liquid”
Gonzo - standard chicken w/ Camilla print (looks just like her!)
Fozzie Bear - banana and mic w/ stand
Animal - HP wands as drumsticks, and a drum set consisting of bass (w/ Dr.
Teeth teeth print), snare, and cymbal
Janice - round-body electric guitar w/ new print
Waldorf - cup & saucer, and 2x2 tile w/ “ZZZ” print
Swedish Chef - whisk & “tomato” (red minifig head and green triple-leaf)
Statler - book-style laptop* w/ image of Scooter on screen
Rowlf the Dog - bust of a classical composer (possibly Beethoven) and a book lid w/ sheet music print**
*This is the newer style of book with a 2-piece cover where the back cover has two interior studs for a tile, and the cover has a bar along the hinge side so it can be gripped as a sheet of paper (like Rowlf’s music). It has been used as a laptop in at least one retail set, probably because they can print a screen image on the front cover, and use a tile w/ keyboard print.
@PurpleDave
You make a good case for the variations, though I’d still try to argue a case to the Muppet jury for trying to go for something else, with more meat on the bone. It goes against certain traditions in toy releases, but I’m comfortably wearing my fan hat today…this is just what I WANT. :)
Here’s my first pass at a Series 2 line-up…assuming LEGO has zero plans to produce any sets whatsoever. Shame that, though I suspect it to be true. So not going that route here’s my wish list:
1. Kermit the Frog (some variation - maybe trench coat)
2. First Mate Piggy
3. Dr. Teeth
4. Zoot
5. Lips
6. Sam the Eagle
7. Scooter
8. Rizzo/Pepe
9. Lew Zealand
10. Link Hogthrob
11. Dr. Strangepork
12. Crazy Harry
@blogzilly:
Wait, so you want Lips, but not Floyd Pepper?
For me, the things I most want to see are Gonzo in his purple suit, a Pigs In Space playset, and a Muppet Labs playset (with a post-explosion Beaker). If they at least provide those minifigs (or a way to build them), I suppose I can handle the playsets myself.

Thanks for the info.
Forgot to add this:
** I can’t make out the music, but I can see enough to say that it’s sideways in the image, has two lines, and shows bass clefs on the left (top, in the image). Since they’ve never printed music on this element before, I’m hoping it’s Muppet-themed (maybe the the first line of the TMS theme song?)
It's Beethoven's 'Pathetique', as played by Rowlf in show 221.

For me, the things I most want to see are Gonzo in his purple suit, a Pigs In Space playset, and a Muppet Labs playset (with a post-explosion Beaker). If they at least provide those minifigs (or a way to build them), I suppose I can handle the playsets myself."
My bad. Thought he was in the first set. Hm…I’d take Lips out, slot Floyd in.

The minifigs are already being shown and sold at https://www.minifiguremaddness.com/

They are currently at my Target in Phoenix, AZ
Found them in the wild even before the announcement! They're great!

They gave her deco consistent with her character design.
@tom8805 :
I found another site selling preorders with an image of each individual minifig. Here’s the accessories:
Gonzo - standard chicken w/ Camilla print (looks just like her!)"
That's absolutely fantastic! It's this sort of attention to detail and fun that brings my enthusiasm for Lego back to life! The eye shadow is hilarious. Again, this is exactly the type of thing they should've done for the Roadrunner (instead of that monstrosity). This is what I enjoy paying for.
OMG! The tomato for the Swedish Chef is insanely good!

*This is the newer style of book with a 2-piece cover where the back cover has two interior studs for a tile, and the cover has a bar along the hinge side so it can be gripped as a sheet of paper (like Rowlf’s music). It has been used as a laptop in at least one retail set, probably because they can print a screen image on the front cover, and use a tile w/ keyboard print."
Which set is it that uses that design? I know that they use that design for the Sword laptop with The Vision CMF.

Oh wow! That’s crazy! I’ve never heard of that happening.
That laptop design seems to be quite effective as you pointed out, and I think it has the right amount of LEGO charm. Hopefully we’ll see it in more sets.
@Cooliocdawg:
Really? This is the third product, and at least fourth time I’ve had it happen. I tried to buy 76205 at both Target and Meijer, and got checkout blocked by messages to take the sets away from me at both locations. Like 76832, they were tied to major Disney flicks and had been shelved before their street dates, so I figured there was some pressure from the Mouse to keep sales locked down until approved to release them. But then, I found the Classic Spaceman puzzle, which was a Target exclusive in the US. Again, a message came up for them to take it away from me because it was about a week before the street date would hit. A puzzle! With an image of minifigs that were first produced over 40 years ago!
Anyways, that’s the only reason I marked the tentacle battle pack as Owned, because I was able to buy three copies before street date at Walmart.
@PurpleDave
I haven’t been super active in trying to find sets in brick and mortar stores for a while, and my local stores don’t usually get things early, so that’s probably why I haven’t had that problem.
