May the Fourth offers begin today
Posted by Huw,
The annual Star Wars extravaganza at LEGO.com has started!
In addition to the launch of 75341 Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder, which is now available to LEGO VIPs a few days before everyone else, you can also avail yourself with the following offers until the 8th May, or while stocks last:
- 40531 Lars Family Homestead Kitchen free with Star Wars purchases over £160 / $160 / €160
- 5007403 The Mandalorian Beskar Keychain free exclusively to VIPs with Star Wars purchases over £70 / $70 / €70
- 30495 AT-ST free with Star Wars purchases over £40 / $40 / €40
- Double VIP points on selected Star Wars sets
- Additional VIP rewards
And don't forget that the three awesome Star Wars dioramas are available now, too, so you shouldn't have too much trouble spending enough to bag all three GWPs.

And INSTANTLY there's a queue to wait
And stuck in a queue
Got the queue page despite being logged in 10 minutes early and on the Landspeeder page.
Landspeeder was available 5 minutes early but the promos weren't adding.
Edit: Got in, added the Landspeeder, all three promotions added, and I'm already checked out.
17th letter of the alphabet...
Tip: I had everything added to my cart before midnight and the promos weren’t showing. I edited the quantity on one of my items and it fixed the issue with the promos.
Speeder went live a few minutes early here, but promos would not add to bag until the hour changed. Got the UCS Speeder and all the freebies, with no queue at all, and even got the limited edition print, with VIP points, excited about that too!
8 minutes in queue, got the Landspeeder and the Orchid (all three GWP) no double points is disappointing.
Ok, Assuming it goes through I will be getting the three promos and: Bad Batch Shuttle, Imperial Landing Shuttle, Snowtrooper Battle Pack, Defense at Hoth and The Armorer's Mandalorian Forge.

This was remarkably smooth compared to big releases in the past (at least my experience was). Similar to you I had to wait to get the GWP’s but at least there weren’t any crashes!
"three awesome Star Wars dioramas"
LEGO really trying to push these at MSRP, huh?
So nice of them to close N1 pre-orders just in time for the promotional period, despite listing it as a double-VIP-eligible item.
Regardless, I got my Landspeeder and R2 orders in. May the 4th be with you all!
15 minute wait's not that bad. Only got double points on the $10 Razor Crest Microfighter, but it is what it is. 3 Freebies is not a bad offset for that lack of double VIP for everything else. According to the site, if you had just bought the minimum of $160 to get all three freebies, that's a $41 reward (certainly better than the old deal of $75 for a single minifigure, no matter how obscure it was). Had I not bought nearly all the Summer 2021 wave of sets, I'd have definitely capitalized on the double VIP points, but I really wanted two of that Sailboat for some reason back on August 1st. Sand Blue dolphins will make you do crazy things.
Cue wasn't long in USA. Speeder & R2-D2 & multiple sets of extra GWP. Nice and smooth this time. May the 4th be with you all.
Very pleased with the smooth experience. I got the Trash Compactor and Trench Run dioramas (got Dagobah the other day), Defence of Hoth, and the three freebies!
Happy May the 4th, everyone!
Not interested in the GWPs, but I do like the dioramas. Got all three spending VIP points, and will flog the GWPs to offset the cost. Somehow the ripoff prices don't feel quite so painful now!
I got the kitchen and keychain, but no at-st ??
Totally forgot about this until 45 minutes into the promotion, but no problem. Everything was still available and I’m happy to say I got all three GWP with Moff Gideon’s Lightcruiser despite being a penny short. Also was able to redeem a $50 gift card with VIP points which made the price much more reasonable.
The sale went through no stock issues on any items at midnight then somehow this morning the Trash compactor has now been back ordered, but a good use of my Lego points to offset its rrp, didn’t realise its also available at Argos as well though.
161.4€ spent and triple promo achieved at 00:03. No issues. May the force be with you.
Purchased trench and Degobah dioramas from Zavi for $115 on a combo deal.
Grabbed purple troopers and Razor Crest from Lego SaH with promos. Now, saying my order is canceled and purple troopers are out of stock.
Aaaaargh! Lego online customer service at it again! I suppose I'll head in to the store tomorrow to see if I can have better luck. I have a bad feeling about this...
May the Force be with you. :(
Had planned to order the Mos Eisley Cantina but it was already on backorder when I went to place my order. For fear of not qualifying for the promos, I decided to get the Gunship instead. Both are sets I really wanted but Mos Eisley being older was more pressing. Ah well, hopefully I'll be able to snag it before it gets discontinued. Also picked up a Mandalorian Starfighter.
Good luck to all! You’re going to need it, I think
Can't get a list of which Star Wars sets are double VIP points.
Clicking on the 2X pic just takes you to all Star Wars sets.
Well that was the absolute smoothest check out ever. Obviously no one buying the landspeeder….

If you purchase the Cantina on backorder and qualifies for the promos, and you add ANYTHING that is available now to your order - even a keychain, and even a non-star wars thing - all the promos will ship right way.
I find it disturbing that all of my items were "In Stock" until my order processed for confirmation. Now my order shows "waiting for new stock" on my order page.
Ooh, I wanna play!
This week I finally pulled the trigger on 75300 at 20% off - didn't even have to wait in a queue!
I bought no-minifigs 76185 and two copies of 76205 for about a THIRD of the price of retail on eBay, and it all went through checkout without having to refresh ONCE!
THEN... a combination of an already-lowered price, eBay's current discount code, and a further discount for the box being utterly mangled in the post netted me 76832 for 29% off - didn't even immediately go to backorder!
I am playing right???
Seriously, stuff scrambling around in the middle of the night just for the chance to pay full-RRP.
And the UK (and possibly Europe) are unable to see or redeem the limited edition UCS Landspeeder print, seems the US can though?!? Makes it very limited then!!
No problem ordering for me. But it was 3:30 am :)

The 1/5000 print is still available in the EU.
and LEGO did not restocked clone trooper battle station. I had plan to buy 5 of them and combine with 1 more set to get promos. Now pass for me. Lego could do better with star wars events and fix the stock issues first

I’ve seen no sign of the limited edition prints at all on the UK Shop @ Home site, either just after midnight or later in ‘the morning’. Have the UK been shafted on this promo despite it clearly being in the promo email with a huge image?
The UK VIP Rewards Centre has only had the Anthony Daniels Signed Sweepstakes and a digital download of the UCS Landspeeder, soooo… where’s the limited edition print?
Didn't see anything about limited edition prints here in Germany either, but I'm not interested in those anyway.
Had the Sailboat GWP that was still available yesterday been available today as well, I would have even pulled the trigger on the UCS Landspeeder. As it is not available any longer I will save my money. This year's SW GWPs just don't interest me enough to entice me to buy anything at RRP. Happy shopping to all who want something.

No sign of the prints in Norway either, here we just have the digital download
Was quite annoyed to find that Defence of Hoth was out of stock as I had the sets I was going to get all planned out and it was one of them, so I had to improvise and add another. It was one of the few that is exclusive to Lego.com, so I was quite keen to take this opportunity to get it. Same for the clone troopers pack, but that's been out of stock for a while.
At 0530 Central, Republic Fighter Tank and Defense of Hoth were out of stock. Got the Death Star Trench Run and Trash Compactor and added a Snowtrooper Battle Pack to get me over the threshold. All three promos were added. Bummer on the Fighter Tank.
I got R2-D2, to go with BB-8 and D-0. No issues checking out at 1:15 this morning in the UK. Thinking about getting a couple of helments through, so I can get anoither keychain....
So 75315 Imperial Light Cruiser that was on back order and going to ship by 27th July is now ‘in warehouse’ with the rest of my order! Happy days!!

I ordered 2 of the clone trooper packs for my son well over a month ago when it firmly said "in stock" and still they are sitting on "backorder". Just fyi
@shokwave2:
There was a report that the AT-ST isn’t going to be available for Australia. Instead, it’s an Amazon promo.
@ogel_chicago:
Almost anything. Adding a VIP Reward item might not do it. Adding Bestseller parts will probably take a week, since that’s the approximate turnaround for those (other parts were offline until “sometime in May”, which probably means after this promo is over).
@wiggy:
There’s a special May 4th section in the VIP Rewards Center list. It has a 1/5000 print, another print with a shot from the movie, a digital print, and the Anthony Daniels sweepstakes entry. You’ll have to scroll down and check the expandable tabs to find it.

A bit strange and annoying.
Definitely can’t see the Ltd print in the uk

In Germany there is only a digital download of the Landspeeder for 10 points. That's it.
No deals on SW sets like several years ago, double VIP points only on a small selection of (mainly older) sets, and only one half interesting GWP.
All in all the dreariest May the Fourth of all times. Then again, money saved, so not all bad.
Disappointing there wasn’t a “sale” on the UK and Europe sites. When I checked the Australian Lego site yesterday they had several sets with 10-15% off including 75315. But then aren’t prices in Australia a lot higher?

I've been on hold with Lego customer service for over 90 minutes trying to get my oder un-canceled. I was summarily dumped out of the phone queue twice with no one answering. Like I've repeated many times, customer service is in the toilet (and it used to be soooo good). Lego A/S is on the vine of decline. This sucks!
I've still got a bad feeling about this....

He was very nice and put $30 worth of VIP points on my account. He says I won't miss out on any of the promos and and items in my order (some of which (purple troopers) are now out of stock).
Still not sure how to feel about all this. I still have a bad feeling about this....

Yep, fools we are. Chasing what?
What exactly are the "Additional VIP rewards"?

As far as Germany is concerned, there are none.
Purchase one yields 2 dioramas and the swag. Purchase 2 yields AT-ST, Mando Starfighter, last Dio and swag. Purchase 3 yields Landspeeder and swag.
Swag for me, swag for my oldest son, swag to keep for a rainy day or to sell in order to offset some of the sting of paying RRP.
Got my Beru. Long line at the local Lego store, but luckily I got in at the front.
@StyleCounselor:
It’s one of the five biggest shopping events of their calendar. They don’t hire to handle the load on days like this, but rather on days like a week ago. I actually went to the store today, because I also wanted a complete set of Muppets, and there were about 200 people lined up when I arrived right before the door opened, and 200 people still in line when I walked out with my purchase. It’s just going to be a little crazy today. People are also flooding the phone lines to bypass any website queue, and a lot of people are probably doing both for a “whichever works first” approach. On launch day for UCS MF2, there were people waiting in line at the store, trying to also buy one online, and probably over the phone as well, once the phone lines went live. Judging the entire company by today is a Chicken Little reaction.
Got all three GWP with a single item that was on my wish list: 75315 Imperial Light Cruiser ($159.99). Very convenient! (and $12 back in Honey Gold)

My order of (just one) UCS Landspeeder, with all the promos added on, was also canceled. Why? Apparently because i also included two Succulents (from the botanical collection) in my order — one for me and one as a birthday gift for my daughter, who loves succulents. Apparently, even though the limit was 2 succulents, I was notified that I had “went above [their] purchase limits” for said succulents. Huh? I ordered just two, never having ordered it before (since I had missed the preorder last month) but they canceled it for that very reason.
Sigh…
So I made another order of just the UCS Landspeeder and the accompanying Star Wars promos, and ordered the Succulents through another vendor.
I agree, sometimes orders are canceled for nonsensical reasons, it seems, or no reasons at all.

As you are very aware from my prior posts, I'm NOT only judging them by today.
Moreover, I heartily disagree. I believe anyone, or any organization, shows their true abilities and failings when they are asked to perform under pressure. Lego Customer Service is failing miserably, and NOT just when put under pressure.
I too went to the store today. They also staffed for the huge crowd. The store was crazy... crazy happy. The staff at my Lego store are all old hands who know how all of this craziness works, they know how to manage it AND everyone is smiling- customers and staff.
Secured the Landspeeder and the four promos last night, and it's still there. No sign of the Landspeeder print then, nor now, but at 3500 VIP points I wouldn't have bought it anyway.

I hear you, brother! However, in my case, it was even worse. I went through a nearly two hour phone frustration session to speak directly with customer service about the canceled order.
He said, "This was canceled for the most frustratingly unclear reasons. 'Unknown reason.'"
I hope you and I get our orders. Fingers crossed.

You're not wrong. In the old days (prepandemic), I used to make multiple orders all the time to get additional swag. Those days are over.
Lego strictly polices multiple orders containing identical swag and summarily cancels them.
@Bycougars:
If you’ve previously placed online orders for a random set, and you place a second order that would combine with the first to put you over the listed set limit, they have reportedly cancelled the most recent order in total. They don’t do this for GWPs, at least not yet. For GWPs, part of the issue is that you can’t selectively decline them. If a new set releases during the middle of a promo you’ve already qualified for, your only option would be to wait out the duration of the promo. By that time, some sets could be on backorder, and stuff like the displaced convention exclusives could be sold out. They could set up flags that keep you from earning a second copy, but this gets problematic with shared addresses, like roommates.
I know that last year I ended up receiving a second copy of the Ideas Vintage Car, even though it hadn’t shown up in my cart when I placed the order (about 90 minutes earlier it had). I got two copies of last year’s 40451 Tatooine Homestead (one of which I turned into the Lars Family Barbeque last night). And I got two copies of the Ideas sailboat.
@1265:
Yes, as long as they ring up the order with your VIP account. You’ll also qualify for 30417 on any in-store purchases of $40+, because of Mother’s Day. Star Wars is “any purchase”, so you can net four GWPs with a $159.99 SW set. They also have Muppets minifigs, if you want to pick up some of those.
@StyleCounselor:
It kinda sounds like you are judging them pretty harshly by today. Physical stores have the benefit of being able to overstaff for big promotions and launches, and nobody bats an eye when they’re forced to wait for people to leave before they can enter the limited physical space because of fire code. But complaints don’t cease when the same people have to wait for a phone operator, or hit the queueing system.
Customers also show their true colors when times get stressful. When phone operators who have probably been cussed out at least once earlier that shift are all apologetic about things they can’t control, I tell them it’s not a problem, rather than adding to their burden.

I worked in retail all through college as grunt, and then in management. I understand the system. I've worked with companies that had great customer service and some that didn't. I've seen good companies go into decline. I know what it's like to try to be a good cog in a bad machine. Lego didn't used to suck. It does now.
I was very friendly to the rep. I always am- unless I'm disrespected. Even in those cases, I'm always professional. I understand that the reps aren't the people making the choices about how things are run.
One wonders what makes you such a Lego appologist on every single topic? I tell it straight. I love Lego when they deserve it. I criticize them when they deserve it. All you do is try to tell everyone who is critical of the company that they're wrong. You have no idea about the personal problems Lego is causing to others. Yet, you always defend them. Strange.

In my experience, they will cancel the entire order, not just the GWP.
The last time this occurred to me was in Jan over the measly Year of the Tiger GWP. The chat rep was extraordinarily rude and repeatedly denied what we all know to be true. Namely, Lego has traditionally had no problem taking multiple orders for GWP. After all, why would they? It's more money for them.
Nevertheless, I did not care if they were instituting a new policy. I just didn't appreciate the flat denial of true facts and rudeness.

I didn't see that report. Thanks.
@StyleCounselor:
I’m not an apologist. The vast majority of complaints I see here tend to be very repetitive, and just as often very wrong, like complaining about skyrocketing prices when the price per piece is still $0.10 or less. That’s been pretty consistent since you could buy 2-3 gallons of gas for a buck. The first time I disproved that rumor was two decades ago, when SW averaged $0.09/pc, and World City was $0.11/pc. There are probably people complaining about the “SW/Disney tax” who weren’t even born the first time that baseless fallacy reared its head.
Anytime they announce an event exclusive, people complain about how they promised “no more regional exclusives”, incapable of comprehending that an event is not a region. And when the pandemic caused some of those events to be cancelled, and they had to find ways to unload those sets on short notice, they couldn’t accept that those were extraordinary circumstances.
Germans complain about the product line not catering exclusively to German tastes (even as Germans have been abandoning them for competing brands), you (and mostly just you) keep complaining that their customer service is on the skids, without providing much in the way of proof (and in direct contradiction of several of us who keep saying we’ve had zero bad interactions of that nature), and you also keep freaking out about how the company is about to implode (it’s not).
Now, that’s probably 90% of the complaints I see here, minimum. Stuff I agree with is that they bungled the original coins promo, and the Ulysses promo (I had to take days off work to get codes for two of them). Australia gets shafted nearly once a month. The convention exclusives just create bad blood just by existing. The queueing system works great, but only when they remember to turn it on (it should be automated), and only on the main website (it needs to cover the VIP Rewards Center, too). Lifetime limits don’t make sense on certain items, like baseplates, and if they can track those purchases over time, they should be able to warn you before you place the order rather than just cancelling it.
So there are still problems that they’re working through, but the company isn’t exactly going down in flames like you keep suggesting. And they’ve fixed some big issues that they don’t always get credit for, like upgrading their servers to handle heavier loads last year, introducing the queueing system in the first place, and figuring out how to fix the brittle ABS problem.
Just noticed this added to VIP Rewards site..
We're getting the Exclusive Star Wars™ Landspeeder™ Print rewards mentioned in our newsletter ready. They will be available as soon as possible.
Hey! Leave some promos for me!
@StyleCounselor:
I had an interesting chat with a very nice lady at Customer Service yesterday. They did institute a “one per household” rule on _some_ GWPs, sometime within the past year (I suspect it may have been triggered by how quickly 40448 sold out), but it doesn’t work the same way as lifetime limits on retail sets. If you’ve already ordered five copies of a Limit 5 set in the past, and you add one more to a new order, yes, the entire order will probably be cancelled. Lifetime limits apply to the person ordering, not the destination, so if you send one copy each of a Limit 5 set to five friends, you’re done. You’ll have to find an alternate source for a sixth copy if you want one for yourself, or have someone else order it for you.
For some GWPs, they’ll let you requalify multiple times. I didn’t get hard confirmation, but 30495 is something I can go buy by the armload for $5 each at Walmart right now, so she agreed that this is _probably_ something you’d be allowed to earn more than one copy of. And she agreed that the keychain and kitchen set are _probably_ things that are flagged as “one per household”. But if you ordered right away to get the GWPs, and then realized you wanted something else that would trigger the keychain and/or kitchen set, you can’t opt out of them when placing the order. You have to choose to add a sixth copy of a Limit 5 set to your order, but GWPs add automatically. Instead, the system is set up to flag that you already got sent a copy, and it will remove just the GWP from your order.
She said the only time she’s seen someone get an entire order cancelled over a GWP was when they were caught abusing the system, and mentioned someone being busted for creating 15 different accounts so they could qualify for Limit 1 GWPs multiple times. You said you “used to make multiple orders all the time to get additional swag.” The logical conclusion is that your purchase history got you flagged for abusing the system, and that stepping over the line will result in more severe action than the average customer will experience.
I used to religiously grab three each of any minifigs I was interested in, but once they stopped using those as GWPs, I would typically only try to earn one copy of any GWP I was interested in. Sporadically, I might seek out a second copy. The Ideas car and sailboat, and the Tatooine set are the only three I recall getting doubles of last year, and the car is the only one I can say for sure I earned twice through online purchases (the other two may have involved one in-store purchase, which don’t impact limits on online purchases). So, my account has probably not been flagged going back to whenever they started tracking GWP abuse.
So, I did learn something useful out of this, which is that if I do want doubles of a choice GWP, I’ll need to make a trip to the store. And I got a little insight into your situation. If I had my order cancelled because I got flagged for GWP abuse, and I started verbally flogging Customer Service agents because of things that were out of control, I would expect them to respond in an antagonistic manner, and that would probably lead me to telling everyone that their customer service is going down the tubes. Sound about right?

" Blah, blah, blah... (tip 'o the cap to its originator- spot on!)."
Everything you just said is completely wrong.
Wrong about me, wrong about Lego policy (they actually do provide it in writing), and wrong about my interactions with Lego CS.
I have never been emotional with them. As I said, they're just doing their job. Nevertheless, several have been rude, and the system as a whole is not the sterling example of professionalism it was a few years ago.
That shows they aren't paying enough to recruit and retain good staff and/or they aren't allowing their staff the power to rectify problems as they did in the past. It's another example of Lego's desire to maximize profits at the expense of its former values and most loyal customers. We all see it (except for you).
In regards to multiple GWPs, check the terms. When Lego chooses to enforce them, is obviously up to Lego. They can and will cancel orders that run against the terms. I have never had an order canceled before Jan. I have never ordered from more than one account.
Moreover, your comments only show how obnoxiously stubborn the Lego rep was in Jan. She insisted that it has ALWAYS been Lego's policy to prevent multiple GWP orders and that Lego has ALWAYS enforced that policy uniformly. You and I both know that is wrong.
Finally, you are obviously an apologist. Try saying something truly negative about Lego. I dare ya! ;)
Here in Australia, the situation is arguably worse. We only have the Lars Homestead kitchen promo and literally nothing else, and within THREE hours of the store opening on the FIRST day, they had already sold out of them.
They did have a "Buy 2 get 1 free" offer on all Star Wars keychains though.
Also very disappointing is that the Republic Fighter Tank's shipment got delayed at my store, and the Clone Trooper Command Station was all sold out a week before. So no clones whatsoever.
The fighter tank was essentially the only set I wanted to get from the store, so it was sad to see everyone else buy the three dioramas and the UCS landspeeder, all of which were abundantly in stock.

Just following up, since I said I would. All three purchases arrived with three separate GWPs (last box arrived this morning). So it still does occur. Odd that it doesn’t work for everyone. It should, if it does for one person, yes?

Thanks for the update. Glad you received your orders.
Very odd, indeed! Curiouser and curiouser....Especially since it violates their written policy, and that- in my case- a clearly-obstinate customer service rep insisted had ALWAYS been in place and had ALWAYS been stricly followed.
