Double VIP points at LEGO.com
Posted by Huw,.jpeg)
From today until the end of the month LEGO VIPs can accrue double points at LEGO.com on all purchases.
If you've been holding off buying the summer releases like 10302 Optimus Prime and 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3, now would be a good time to do so.

Can I be the first person ever on this site to ask if you get double VIPs on pre-orders?

No and yes, in that order!
Cool, let’s have a look…
Titanic, out of stock.
Time machine, out of stock.
No pre-orders for Galaxy Explorer or Castle.
Wow, 10% cashback (which is what it is!) to spend on non exclusive sets that are sold 20-30% cheaper on Amazon.
Don’t think I will bother!
(Not bitter at all)

Yes, needs a minimum of 4x VIP points to be remotely interesting for anything other than (out of stock) lego.com exclusives!
Aha, time to get the Monkie Kids sets...
Why must 40557 and 40558 be always out of stock...
The x2 VIP events are just not worth it. You are generally better off with a good GWP promotion instead. The extra 5% on the x2 VIP is too small, even with the biggest sets. The Titanic is equivalent to £27.75 and the UCS AT-AT is £35, whereas the Forest Hideout GWP sells for about £40. This is perhaps exceptional for a GWP but the recent Vintage Taxi sells for about £20. For those buying a more standard set for about £150 it only gives an extra £7.50 in points. Just wait for the next GWP.

Absolutely agree. I used to by sets on lego.com only if there's a GWP. Best time for shopping when there's a GWP (maybe more GWPs simultaneously) AND double VIP points.
John Lewis has some decent stuff at 20% off at the moment. Picked up Boutique Hotel there.
Where I am in US no stores have discounts on the larger sets that I want, not even on Amazon, so I look forward to double VIP points.

Thank you, that helps me understand the VIP points worth, and whether it's good to buy from lego.com. I generally wait for Amazon, Argos or Smyths to sell a set I want at 33%-40% off. Sometimes I manage to grab one of those extra special deals with more than 40% off, like 50% off Sian 42115. Not including eBay second hand sets, I think I've saved nearly two grand this way when having spent near three grand.
Obviously if I want an exclusive, and I can afford it (only happened once!), then I have to buy from Lego. Double points would be good for them but alas I can't afford to spend at the moment!
A shame the Castle's not yet available for pre-order. I'm suspecting it will be out of stock for months so will probably try and make it a rare day one purchase when it's available to VIPs.
If you're in the UK, using topcashback can make purchasing from LEGO more palatable. My last buy with the Forest Hideout and Aston polybag GWPs had an additional 5.95% off as cashback (IIRC), so almost 11% in total when combined with VIP points earned. Maybe other cashback sites offer similar, but I haven't looked into them.
Only wanted Bathtub Stunt Bike and Titanic….out of stock.
Do these 2x VIP point multipliers not stack between site-wide promos and promos for individual sets? I've added 76909 (for which you get double VIP points until the end of June) to my basket, but it still shows I'll get 540 points, which is double the nominal 270.
I just back-ordered the 10300 Delorean, used a VIP Redeem to get $30, and the X2 VIP Points gave me enough to get another $30 next purchase.
Oh yeah, the Delorean is available online in Australia.
Would be cool if one could pre-order 10497 with double VIP points and the Forestmen GWP.
Alas.
I will do so at this time, thanks for the notice.

No... as per T&Cs "Offer cannot be combined with any other VIP offer, discount or voucher."
If there was a preorder for Galaxy Explorer I'd be tempted. However this time I'll be saving my money for August - hopefully there'll be a decent GWP then!

Wow that’s a spectacular offer. Too bad I just bought it on Lego.com in order to get the Forestmen set (though I’d have likely spent the money to get the set anyway).
So the Forestmen Hideout promotion is already over? That's a real shame...
@Reventon: That's an interesting pair of sets, although they do have the connection that both are associated with water...
Cancelled Pre-Order of the Galaxy Explorer, re-did it and got the X2 points.
Pre-ordered BD-1 because I expect that to be a popular set. I considered the Inquisitor's Scythe, but I've dropped quite a bit of cash on LEGO the last couple of months thanks to some great GWPs. Oy!
Edit: looks like the Scythe PO's have sold out.

Yeah, it sold like hot cakes.

Yep. Both would of been fun to play with in the bath:)
Argh, City of Sails is sold out.

You wont get the full points though. Just the equivalent to what you paid!
None of the summer sets I want are available yet, lol.
Dang it...Paypal was "Messin'" with me, so I missed the Hideout...oh well, at least I got a preordered Explorer and some parts I wanted/need...Still >:(
This is PERFECT TIMING! I was wondering when the next one would be and I've been needing a ton of pieces from pick a brick. finally some good news today.

Yep, in general you don't want to use VIP points for discounts during double VIP events, as that reduces the points you will earn. (Of course, if that is what you need to do to afford the purchase, go ahead!)
aghhh do i get the ucs AtAt and earn enough points for the 100 voucher in the process, my heart says yes and let that be future me's financial worries
Their timing is impeccable. I purchased $400 of sets last week… only for them to do this, out of the blue, a week later. Really time to start shopping at all 3rd party shops for better value for dollar when they have sales.
As many have noted, this sale (extra 5%) doesn't make economic sense compared with the $25-30 GWPs which is equivalent to 16-20%.
It makes even less sense with 3rd party retailers' sales. That said, I did finally grab the Disney Castle before it retires (maybe?).
LEGO Creator 40488 Coffee Cart seems to be available as a free promo again (at least in Holland).
I used this promo code: LW3TK7WF3U
The minimum amount to be spent is 80 euros.
