The ultimate minifig display cases now available in the USA

Posted by ,

Digs for Figs, manufacturers of minifig display cases, now has a US distributor, so the cost of shipping them to customers in the country has been dramatically reduced.

We reviewed the case a few years ago, and it remains without doubt my favourite minifig display solution: there's plenty of room for oversized figures and their accessories, and the enclosed design incorporating a hinged door keeps dust at bay and the figures easily accessible.

The cases cost £75/$99.99. They are available in black and white, and can be purchased with or without 6x8 baseplates to line the shelves with.

Head on over to DigsForFigs.com to find out more and to place your order.

My smartphone notification just showed, "The ultimate minifig"...
I got very excited thinking what could it be.. until I clicked the link. Display cases!!!
I'm sure they're very nice, just not what I was hoping for.

While this may be a nice, tailor-made case, I’ve never been a fan of how expensive it is. There’s plenty of other, FAR more cost effective options out there that look just as good from both a quality and display standpoint, if not better.

I myself use 2 Michaels’ Shot Glass cases turned on their sides. Each one holds even more minifigs than this case, and for 1/3rd of the price.

Any chance you could post a pic of how it looks?

I've tried a lot of solutions to displaying MFs, and these are definitely the best. Highly recommended.

By in Spain,

IMHO it is indeed the *best* Minifig display case, and I've tried some. And what is not minifigs, like vignettes, scenes, and so...

It is a little expensive for normal budgets, although your money is well spent.
But I can't complaint, mine was a gift (as some of you can recall I won this year's minifig display contest ;¬).

Disclaimer: not "paid" advertisement here, I really like it a lot.

Can you provide a link to the case you are using, and maybe a picture of yours? I'm looking for storage of several hundred minifigures and would love to see how the Michael's cases look.

I’m not home atm, but here’s a picture someone else posted of theirs, it’s what sold me on the cases originally: https://imgur.io/AedAiGF

There’s enough room for a 6x12 plate in each slot, or 6 CM plates in a 3x2 pattern.

You get a really clean and organized look if you only do 3 figures per slot (for a capacity of 84), but having 4 or 5 staggered works well for a slightly more crowded look, and bumps the capacity up to 140 figs.

You could theoretically do 6 per slot, but that obscures the back 3 figures far too much for my liking. This is about display after all! Can’t have half your minifigs hiding behind their friends!

Even if you only put 3 minifigs in each slot, it still comes out to only 39 cents per fig displayed. Less than half the 89 cents per fig using the article’s case.

Here’s the link for those interested. It’s almost always listed at 50% off, and has been for years: https://www.michaels.com/default/10147365.html

Honestly thought that these guys had gone out of business as they had zero activity on any of their feeds for all of lockdown and covid. Love the cases, just wish they cost a bit less.

That price without including baseplates is really pretty bad. This is the one I've used for the same kind of thing: https://www.michaels.com/studio-decor-keepsake-display-case/10227067.html

It's smaller, but you can buy like four of them for the same price. The measurements for baseplates are not exact for Lego, of course -- but it's close enough that when the door's closed the frame hides the gaps, allowing for essentially the same effect as the Digs one if you wanted to create built-in scene structures like that.

"there's plenty of room for oversized figures and their accessories". I had real problems with my home made cases with that series that had "surfer-with-board-and-dolphin", minotaur AND aeroplane-suit boy. How did this one deal with those?

The michaels look like a good alternative, but as far as I can tell, they don't ship outside of the USA.

By in United States,

A lot of these, including the new expensive one, look like they don't really support minifigs with things in their hand like lances with flags on them, or mounted on a horse. I guess I could measure the "6 bricks high" and see.

Thanks for the Michaels suggestions y'all. Been in the market for these and couldn't justify Digs for Figs price. I love this group!!

By in United States,

I usually try to go with the cheapest option, and the Michael's display cases would be my preferred choice. What I really like about these is the glass front which will keep out dust. Yes, more expensive, but I will save so much time taking everything out to dust.

By in United States,

Drat, I was going to get a couple of the ones from Michael's last week for 50% off but I got busy. And now this week they're only 25% off. Guess I'll just have to wait.

When did you buy them? I just looked them up, and they’re considerably more expensive than this one.
