40366 LEGO House Dinosaurs to be available on LEGO.com [UK, IE, DK]

©2019 LEGO Group

LEGO has announced that 40366 LEGO House Dinosaurs will soon be released on LEGO.com, beginning on the 20th of October.

Unfortunately, the set will only be available in the UK, Ireland and Denmark. Those living elsewhere may be understandably frustrated by such limited availability, which results from the packaging and instructions being produced for distribution in Denmark. Legally, this restricts where the set can actually be sold.

The pricing has not been confirmed currently, but is expected to equate to this set's cost of 599 DKK at the LEGO House. That would be approximately £70 or €80.

By in Kenya,

during the pandemic they placed stickers on the outside of boxes to comply with USA law. if they really wanted to sell it here they can do that too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wasn't this announced Last year ? I bought one.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Wasn't this set released, like, years ago?

Or was that a different Lego house dinosaurs with three dinosaurs?

According to the database of Brickset, this set was sold between 2019 and 2021.

By in Netherlands,

I wonder why sets aren't made such that they may be sold anywhere by default.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Didn't LEGO make an announcement before that they would stop with the sets restricted to some areas? Really wish l could get this

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Lego34s, you're right, it was available during the pandemic for a short period, shipping only to selected countries.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who cares, at this point? Everything Lego does these days in turning to crap. Why should this be any different?

Gravatar
By in United States,

That is a bummer. I would have had to have this set.

I believe you're being a tad melodramatic.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ah well. While I like the set, I can’t currently afford it.

Hope those in the countries that do get it enjoy it!

I can live without it.

Didn’t dinosaurs go extinct like millions of years ago? Man, keep up with the times, LEGO!

Another way of looking at it is that the availability of this set has actually INCREASED. Previously it was only available if you physically visited Billund, but now it's more widely available. (Again...)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Outside of the connection with the Lego House the dinosaurs themselves are fairly unremarkable as far as Lego creations go.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I'm waiting for the duck being available everywhere.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Fortunately this set is ugly, so I will not cry but it's annoying that again they are trying sell something in restricted area.
Packaging and instruction is always the same in Europe anyway so lame excuse...

Yeah, it makes an okay souvenir but it is the least interesting of the Lego House sets.

Increasing available is great but the cynical side of me says that they have excess stock they need to move.

On the upside maybe a new Lego House set is coming soon.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Do we know how long it's likely to be on sale for?

And do we think it will sell out quickly? I'm tempted but would ideally like to wait for a GWP or double VIP points to take the sting off the cost

They are expressing emotional frustration. It’s not melodrama, it’s a human reaction to what is, at least from their perspective, disappointment after disappointment coming from a company and a hobby that there is clearly some passion for. It’s important not to dismiss these things and try to understand the reasons why they occur. Just my opinion.

It's interesting that it is coming back. I was lucky enough to visit Lego House back in May and this set was not available then.

We got to visit Lego House in August for the first time and it wasn't available then either. I bought the other Lego House sets for myself. I don't know when or if I'll get back there.

It is melodrama. If that was a real human reaction to a toy line, then it's silly.
In the entire Lego catalogue the past few years with a WIDE range of products from all price points how can someone who's a real or casual collector say the company has been a disappointment and be taken seriously. Look through the line, there's great stuff at each price point to play and build with as well as buying bricks to moc your own creations. If he can't see that then he IS being silly and melodramatic.

It's a pretty cool place, isn't it? I was able to get the Duck, the mold machine, and the Lego House architecture set. They had the new one with the designer and the giraffe, but I decided to pass on it.

I feel for you both, it just goes to show that Lego collecting is cruel and in some cases good luck or bad luck or timing is the only way you do or don't get sets. Its very cruel. I am very "lucky" to have managed to get 3 House sets without travelling hundreds or thousands of miles to the House. I got two last year (Dinosaur and Tree) when they were only available at Lego.com for a short time for some countries in Europe and then by accident our Family trip to London happened to co-incide with a grand re-opening of the Leicester store (I didnt even know it was shut until we got there the day before it re-opened) and so they were selling a small supply of the House Duck. They really should do away completely with regional or limited. Maybe just sell some sets cheaper in some regions (like a discount at the Lego house) but available to all for RRP in all regions. I remember paying possibly 350-450% to get a Wallmart exclusive shipped to the UK $10 in Walmart.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yes, it’s nice to have a souvenir of your visit to the Lego House, but realistically there’s nothing stopping them from making these House sets worldwide compliant and selling them at Lego.com.

Or maybe I’ll buy that AU$2300 return ticket from Sydney to Billund…

Lol. You’re taking the time to reply to your own comment. So at a minimum it seems important to you that people know you don’t care. Which is sort of like caring in a meta sense.

Sure. Ya' betcha.

I've a lot more to say, but don’t like to be too negative on this great site. Besides, it's been detailed over and over how Lego is declining. Either you see it or you don't. I no longer care.

I've said too many times. My wish is that Lego would be as great as Brickset!

It's probably the Canadian law requiring bilingual text. The U.S. likely gets the shaft because we're part of the North American distribution.

The law was passed as part of Canada's attempt to keep Quebec from seceding.

I'm not sure about this, but it may also have to do with the number of pieces (not) being shown on the front of the boxes: in the EU this is not mandatory.

That "Retired" is from the last time it was sold online in these same countries. It'll be back!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

"Dinos at the Door" shows in the "Trending Now" section of the LEGO site, but there's no "Shop now >" link underneath it to click as there are for the other items in that section. I think we're waiting for someone to press a button on their site! :D

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just been on the phone and the lady checked as she had heard nothing, and came back saying the same. It might be that someone is waiting to click a button to release, or it could be a rumour only. Was there a press release? (I’m in the UK)

Unfortunately, it is not at all like that. The "mechanical part" of the product will in many cases (not always) be following the same standards in all EU countries. But the labeling, marking requirements are very different.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@everyone mentioning 'no more regional exlusives': please read the article linked by datsunrobbie

@everyone interested in the limited availabity: I checked the box of my own copy of this set. Findings:
- Only language on the box is English, with the exception of the Chocking Hazard warning which is also written in Danish.
- Number of parts is not mentioned anywhere on the box.

So only selling this in UK/Ireland/Denmark makes quite a lot of sense.

Nope! It's the US that has the packaging laws that require "extra" steps. They always answer this question at Cons.

No. The U.S. has minimal laws about this nonsense. Any minimal restrictions can be met by adding a literal sticker, which LEGO does because half the sets at any random Target store in California are just European packaged sets with these stickers taped to the box.

Canada requires French language packaging.
