Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 21
Posted by CapnRex101,
Across the previous four days, we have received an Imperial Snowtrooper and an AT-ST, opposed by two Rebel turrets. A minifigure to direct those defences would be welcome today.
Find out whether a minifigure arrives below...
Luke Skywalker is the perfect minifigure to coordinate the defence of Echo Base, featuring his famed Hoth fatigues. This version of the character was introduced in 75298 AT-AT vs. Tauntaun Microfighters and looks great, particularly because of his printed legs, which include an accurate cross-hatched pattern and a reddish brown strap.
The torso is equally detailed, with Luke's communicator and rank indicator pinned to the chest. Fortunately, the rank indicator is correct, with three blue pips identifying Luke as a commander within the Rebel Alliance. Additionally, I like the double-sided head which includes a white hood beneath the helmet, reflecting the onscreen costume.
I think Luke's expressions look splendid as well, including a cheerful face on one side, while the other is presumably peering sceptically at a 'meteorite' which has impacted nearby. Luke carries his lightsaber, as normal, although this highlights the omission of Darth Vader's lightsaber earlier in the Advent Calendar. After all, winter time Luke Skywalker battling summer holidays Darth Vader could be a fun display!
Overall - While not exclusive, this Luke Skywalker has only appeared once before and is very detailed.

I love this version of Luke Skywalker. I’m glad he’s included in the advent calendar so he’s no longer exclusive to one set.
The Advent Calendars have now had four primary Luke Skywalkers: Tatooine Farmboy (twice), Jedi Knight, hermit, and now Hoth. The only other major ones we're missing as far as ACs are concerned are X-Wing and/or Snowspeeder pilot (technically different uniforms, but visually close), and his Muppet Show outfit. (Edit, yes, they could do his flashback uniform from TLJ, but it's not particularly iconic, so...meh.)
"Echo Three to Echo Seven. Han, old buddy, do you read me?"
Posted early today! It had me really worried since the SW door is usually posted at 2am here.
It looks like the 21st daybof Christmas came early this year
Nice figure. Plenty of accessories too!
I need to get one of these

I think you can with Lego Star Wars magazine gift No.91 (january 2023 in Spain); probably set number 912291.

So you can use up the extra pieces by giving him two sets of goggles (for the purpose of confusing his enemies, who won’t be able to tell where he’s looking), and converting his lightsaber to lightnunchucks.
@ResIpsaLoquitur:
Stormtrooper, Bacta-cation, Dagobah, Bespin, De-amputation, Jedi w/ hooded robe, Endor…
I already own 75298, but he's such a nice figure that I don't mind another one. The colours and details are very pleasing.
I just love his little frowny face
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. With 5 figs already and R2D2 to come (that's not a spoiler, he's on the package) a seventh feels like a bonus.
Luke Skywalker, dat man can shave da back of a womp rat with der photon torpeda!!
@DoonsterBuildsLego:
Some people like to pretend it’s a spoiler until it’s clearly not. The first rule of SWAC club…
That is one big hat!

Iconic Lukes, anyway. A lot of the above ones are fairly brief in appearance, maybe Stormtrooper notwithstanding. And if you have a Luke head and a Stormtrooper body, easily done anyway. (You can do it with the 2020 calendar.)
Dagobah Luke is just Bespin Luke without his long-sleeved shirt on. "Bespin Luke" IS Muppet Show Luke.
Truly delighted to get this minifigure.
Where did Luke end up after his encounter with the Wampa?
The Hoth-spital!!
Just a general about this AC designed by the good @BrickCommander :
My son picked the SW AC (per usual), and due to his studies schedule, there has been quite a backlog of days this year. Thus, I haven't been able to truly, properly judge many of the designs. Well, finals are over, and he tackled his backlog. I 'finally ' have them in hand.
I've liked them all, but a lot of the designs don't really jump out at you from pictures. This is likely due in part to comparison with similar models from years' past. Having them in your hand, they are larger than usual, beefy, and well-designed with cool parts. This AC has trully been a pleasure! Well done.
Is this the same minifig that's appearing on the next issue of the SW magazine in the UK?
When I first opened this day's, I was like, "Hey, I haven't gotten a Luke in a while!" Then I remembered that I had. In fact, I'd gotten this one, as I had 75298, but as @Rob42 said, it's a nice enough figure that I don't mind having another.
@CCC: That's just his neck coverings slipping down in the back.
