By in United States,

I'm curious what the pieces the larger stickers in the banners will be on. I want to use them in my castle but also keep the banner in tact to hang.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Interesting sets I must say. May take a closer look when they arrive.

But where oh where is the Modular?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Viktor Krum!

By in United States,

Grindylow!! Ravenclaw quiddtch unis! A new ghost!

That lake needs more figs... and a shark’s head!

Edit: I guess it does have one. That Krum double-sided head is freaky. And pixies, Blaises, and diadems everywhere (2 sets).

So, I guess those banners are supposed to hang on your wall?

I wonder if that Bassilisk fang glows in the dark like the ones in 4730?

BTW, since I've harped so much about Lego™ greed, I have to mention that the prices on these ain't too shabby.

Well you’ve got a sharks head included at least!

By in Sweden,

Anytime soon the Hogwarts sets are gonna be pure facades, two studs deep

Gravatar
By in United States,

The houses are very satisfying designs for bookshelf decorating. Complex enough to be entertaining and shallow enough to place in front of my favorite books.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I quite like the banner sets;
nice new take on what the books were and very pleased that they didn't feel the need to include a harry (or ron/hermione) in every one of them, taking away a spot for a true house caracter. Nice variation in the torsos!

Not that enthusiastic about the other sets, though.
The Room of Requirements really suffers from the format.
The requirement to fit into the modular system, puts too much focus on the exterior.
Any RoR set should be about interior (does the place even have an exterior?),
which is hardly present here, pity.

The second challenge Black Lake set disappoints a bit too; nice minifigs/creatures, but I was hoping for two separate structures or at least some more separation (support structure) between the two.

Regardless I'll probably be getting all of these eventually.

By in United States,

Seeing more pictures elsewhere that show them to be double sided cards, not stickers maybe, so you can alter them such as is possible to recreate moving photographs.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That Second Task set is looong overdue! Nice!

EDIT: I love the little details in the houses, like the personality on display with the 3D stickers (what is this, 2001 with the Mirror of Erised again? XD) and stuff like the horcruxes being with each respective house.
Oh, and Newt Scamander's portrait and his niffler (I forgot the name) being depicted elsewhere.

Ravenclaw's 3D image is just bad though. It's literally supposed to be a statue!
Also nice to finally see a set depict Fryndfyre

By in United Kingdom,

Like the idea of all four house common rooms, even if Gryffindor is likely to be the first choice. Pity the plates are upside down as would have been useful to be able to stand the minifigs and place the furniture before they were lost. Wall of requirement a bit lost on me, but useful parts pack to expand other Hogwarts buildings when the price falls. The Black Lake looks a bit morbid for a kids toy.

By in United States,

These are all interesting. The Banners don't seem to have as many detailed builds included as the Moments sets did to me. I'm surprised the piece counts for the Banners are a bit higher than the the Moments sets. I do like the varied torsos they used in each Common Room. Hope they give us a way to get more of the Quidditch Sweaters. The other two sets are nice. Unless they offer a Harry Potter themed GWP I'll be waiting for price reductions before I buy any of these.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are nice. I like the common rooms, but the Ravenclaw one looks a bit lacking on its left side. The Room of Requirement I feel needs to be a little more substantial; there's something but I can't put my finger on it. However, I like the stacked items and the chair on top. The glowing dragon is neat! The Black Lake set looks great, maybe needs a little more of an underwater section. I like the minifigs in this set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Like the Hufflepuff banner!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm loving the banner sets! A great new way to add to my Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students

All of these look awesome. Before reveal, I was only planning on getting the Ravenclaw banner (my house) and the Room of Requirement, but now I'm certain I'm going to collect them all. Awesome!

By in Norway,

These are great! Love how we're finally getting a proper Battle of Hogwarts set! This is really the only one we needed. The Black Lake gives good 2005 vibes and the common rooms look great! I hoped there would be a pixie in the Room of Requirement and am glad to see that there is.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

They seem great, but not for me.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Quite like the Black Lake set since I don't have any on the subject yet.
Don't like the price though. But at the usual Amazon discounts between 30 an 50 percent for HP sets I might be tempted.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Not a fan of the room of requirement, especially compared to the other one from a few years back. It's a bit of a mess visually, and focuses a bit too much on the exterior in an attempt to fit in the modular system. Helena Ravenclaw is a great figure, but it's a bit of a messy set overall.

I really like some of the sand green/aqua colouring in the Second Task though. I might pick it up if I feel drawn to it in the near future. The house banners are also a good idea.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Interesting new parts. The large 6x8 oval tile is not that interesting (for me) but I like the 2x2 with quarter circle cut-outs and I think I see a new hinge piece as well, a 3 long version of 18677. And is that a 2x4 inverted tile?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Very happy to see a Cornish Pixie in the Ravenclaw house (a more affordable set!). Between the Chamber of Secrets set and buying on BrickLink, the justification wasn't there to buy either for such a small-sized figure.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Very weird renders. In the House sets the 8x8 plates look like tiles from the back. The holes from the back of the studs are missing!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I do like the Black Lake set - how the starting pier is set on top of the underwater structure. And the designs of both parts are pretty good.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I do like these, but it definitely feels like the theme is winding down.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My relationship with the HP series has grown more complicated due to the author's recent words/actions against the trans community--so I'm not as psyched about these as I might have been in the past.

That said, these are all *extremely* well designed sets--the HP team at LEGO continues to turn in impressive work! I'll probably end up purchasing the Hufflepuff banner at some point, and I might pick up a few figures from the other sets on BrickLink.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everything but the Room of Requirement seems a bit much for what you get.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess the banners are the next wave of “book” sets, now that they’ve run out of classes to turn into books? I see the sword, diadem, and cup, but is that silver 1x1 round tile supposed to be the amulet? Looks like they made a new picture hanger element. The chair looks interesting, especially since that gets us another color of jump stud. And that arch is a color combination I never would have expected to work so well.

@StyleCounselor:
All four houses come with a sweater torso, a robes torso, and a Quidditch torso. And all four houses already had Quidditch torsos, thanks to the Diagon Alley set.

@YanVanLan:
The Room of Requirement is on fire. You don’t really want to go inside anyways.

@Ridgeheart:
Probably Wizard’s Chess, but the only piece is big enough to cover 16 spaces.

Ow boy, don't forget to cover your face or shout "Rowling is evil" when you buy these sets.
Now I go back to decide what sets I really need.

It won't be a big fire with that few items inside...

The silver 1x1 round tile is the amulet indeed; it looks printed and is probably the one that is included in 76403 and 76408.

I know exactly what you mean! And then there's the relatively high prices. I like the Hogwarts castle sets, and he Black Lake one is pretty cool, but I'm kind of done throwing money at the Wizarding World.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not a HP fan... even less of one after JK's recent turn to the dark side...

But I have to say, I really do like the banners as a set design overall, and i think a similar concept would be great for other themes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These sets continue to impress. It is consistently the only theme I know I will be buying the majority of. HP brought me back into LEGO, so it only makes sense to keeps me interested when I've been faltering otherwise as of late.

These sets are awesome though. And the prices aren't terrible. I'll try to wait for a sale, but not terrible.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

All fine by me except: a missed opportunity to re-issue the four founding members of the school. Not everyone is able to purchase the $400 castle to get them . It would have been a very nice way to offer these minifigs at a decent price for most likely a large component of the Lego HP clientele.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Why is Loki in Ravenclaw? Surely he would be Slytherin.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very excited about the Black Lake set; I've been waiting for a remake of 4762 for what feels like forever. I never acquired the original set, so it's somewhat of a white whale for me, but I'm gladly going to purchase this new one. The new mermaid figure does not disappoint, using the Vidiyo mermaid pieces makes it feel like an appropriate upgrade. I also love the diving platform; it looks quite accurate even though it's smaller than the ones in the film. The other sets are nice too, but the Black Lake is definitely a day one buy for me!

Gravatar

These sets are so perfect!

The gold Dumbledore, McGonagall, Hagrid from 76391 too. Well, not from these sets but similar wish to get them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I only get modular sets now. Good to see 76413 in modular form. But not quite sure how to stack that with the rest of the modules...

& room of requirement is supposed to be on the 7th floor. But guess in last book, if one comes out it could be anywhere. That can explain the rock instead of tan color...

& I think Michael Corner should have dark skin. From the books I mean.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are all spectacular with some really interesting details from the books and movies. I haven't bought any of the Hogwarts Moments book sets yet because most of the details were stickers but these are much better. You can tell the current HP set design team has at least one hard core Potterhead - well done, team!

By in Poland,

The 3D effects seems to be on huge hard paper that goes on back of the build. Lame. There are few nice stickers there though. Love that fruits painting.
AThe crests also look only good as a partpacks on sale.

76420 The Black Lake. 1x seagull should have been included. Seagulls are magical in Lego-form.

I'm definitely all for more inclusivity, but I don't think that's the case.

I don't remember ever hearing of Michael Corner but all I'm finding on the wiki is that Hermione referred to him once as "the dark one." I don't have context for that but if she was referring to his skin, that's very much the opposite of inclusivity and very out of character for both Hermione and JKR, especially with JKR saying Hermione might be black, as per the stage play. I have issues with JKR but even that I don't think she would do.

Regardless, the casting director interpreted "dark" as goth or emo, which I think is more likely what JKR meant. I don't think this is another whitewashed lavender brown thing, fortunately.

Regardless, Lego has the rights to depict the films, not the books. Yes, merch contracts can be that picky. (not the case for Marvel and SW since Disney owns book rights to both). Same reason we're unlikely to ever get a Tom Bombadil minifig, or more relevantly, merope gaunt or Winky.
So even if the books did intend for the character to be a POC, the films cast him as white and that's probably all Lego can work with.

but I agree with your overall point. let's get Lee Jordan and Angelina Johnson already, at least.
edit: ope there's our first angelina johnson right there lol)

By in United States,

Looks like Trans-Brown Opal is making a comeback after not being used this year!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Triwizard set is somewhat disappointing. First of all, this would have been an ideal opportunity to include some tensegrity into an official LEGO set. I'm really not keen on how they've displayed the "drowning" students. Second of all, I'd expect at least two more Hogwarts students to be included. Nice that they've finally given us an improved version of this scene from the fourth film, but definitely could have been better designed to encourage playability.

Buying 76420 just for the top half, will sit well in my old English village set with steam train.
