Sticker haters be like... }:( <-------- VERY grumpy face

These look great! I wouldnt have minded some older cars, (SC Delorean, Lego?) but these are nice anyways, especially the Mclaren F1. Looking forward to picking these up and experiencing lots of new building techniques! :)

By in United States,

The Pagani and those McLarens look incredible!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Easy pass! Thank you Lego.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I'm not a car person, but these look splendid! I already wonder which of these will end up on the favorite sets of 2023 list.

This is a great start of the year having seen all the recent announcements of January releases.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Beautiful.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Damn you, Chris Stamp! I don't even like cars! These are all incredible and I need them all just for those builds!

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

This being my favourite contemporary theme, I’m getting all of them. Switch to 8-wide proved to be fantastic. And yes, I’m a sticker hater :D

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

As a Speed Champions collector and SC MOC builder, WOW. Cant wait to buy them all.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

*The likely winners of the Best set under $40 from 2023 revealed

Jokes apart, another great wave from SC. Ok, the Solus looks a bit weird, but still amazing.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I have nothing against stickers with this theme, but the Porsche 963 is really pushing it. I'm not sure if there's a single brick with no sticker on it :)

SC switch to eight wide is one of the best decisions Lego has ever made. The SC lineup is imo a perfect theme, however looking back at the six wide, I have no idea why I wasted my time with most of those abominations. And hey, the smaller scale back then was way more dependent on stickers, with eight wide, you can leave off multiple unnecessary stickers and still easily recognize the car!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Interesting parts here, can't wait to check them out.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I want them all

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Pagani Utopia looks great. Not too keen on the Maclaren F1 colour though. Of course, I'm still going to get it.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Great builds as usual, unfortunately not the most interesting models to me. The Pagani looks gorgeous and the skyline revealed earlier is a must buy.

The rest I’ll probably need to see discounts or deals to consider them. I like the F1 LM, but the solus looks … cartoonish in this rendition. Ferrari will always feel nostalgic but this livery and model isn’t the most appealing to me. I like the Porsche judged based upon box art but the other picture makes it look very flat. Don’t get me wrong, I understand it’s by design, but I’m afraid the curves of LM cars is a bit too hard to replicate on this scale without some awkward angles.

Gravatar
By in United States,

All these sets looks incredible. So happy that there is now a McLaren F1 SC set. The Porsche set looks great but good grief that is a lot of stickers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am a fan of Speed Champions, but not a fan of that 25% price bump for single cars.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

A McLaren F1 in Papaya Orange? YES please, its easily one of the coolest cars ever made (and only 6 exist so this is as close as most mere mortals will get to one)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I hope eventual reviews of these sets show us what they look like without stickers as well as with them.

I hope Lego will eventually re-release most 6-wide cars in 8-wide format. As you said, the difference is stark

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Already some contenders in the under $40 best set of 2023 category.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Getting all. Pagati and McLaren already look like the most fun, but many times the interior and SNOT technique is only realized during building.

Also hoping for more micro speed champions versions. Those are very fun polybags to pair with the 8 wide.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

So, no F1 car in 2023 wave? So saaad!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yeah. I get it. They felt like a steal before and now feel more in-line with actual cost...

But it may mean waiting until there are sales instead of instabuying.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want to be angry at the bump up to $25, but honestly for how incredible of builds these Speed Champions sets are, it really doesn't feel that egregious. I'm glad they're sticking with the recent trend of double-packs costing less than two cars individually though.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

This theme continues to improve year upon year.

I'm not a car collector (have the Aston Martin) but SC is an excellent theme and I thoroughly enjoy watching Chris Stamp's infectious enthusiasm for each and every car.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think this could be the best shaped wave so far, The Pagani especially. Obviously all of the colour matching of the stickers is pretty ropey but it looks like some can be left off completely, and others can easily be cut down to just the required size, rather than leaving large areas of poorly matched background colours.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

If you buy one and cut it in half you’ll have two 4-wide cars!! Win-win!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really hate when LEGO does these double packs, as there's always one not-so-great car, and the price point is always slightly higher than if they were sold separately. I probably would have picked up the McLaren GT if separate. Same goes for previous years. The only year I ever picked up a double pack was the first year they started Speed Champions (2015?), but it's a real turn off for me when I often only want one of the pair.

Especially when they already recently went up to 20(USD) per car....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh my word! They’re beautiful! What a theme!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The use of printing along the lower edge of the canopies is making a big improvement to the cars overall appearance.
Speed Champions looks to have another good year ahead of it.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Yes! A McLaren F1! But as always, why pair it up with a car that I have no interest in? I guess it worked this time, LEGO, because I must have that F1. Touché.

I'm also happy to see pretty much exactly the canopy mold that I asked for after the disappintment of the Koenigsegg Jesko. Bummer it wasn't available until now. But great that it is finally here with the Pagani! Great work new-parts-team! That one will be very useful.

Looks like a great wave!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Oh my god look at those new slopes! They're beautiful!

And there's a sneaky little long-overdue SNOT brick hidden in here too

Yes they definitely had some great cars from that period that deserve to be redone.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Ok these are blowing my mind again, and the McLarens had me at orange, but that new rotating snot part revealed elsewhere is a game changer!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd love to see Rowan Atkinson's former McLaren F1, and the flatbed they used to tow it off to the body shop.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Yep, the new-parts-team deserve much credit this year. After seeing more of what's inside these models that is the biggest step, I would say. The general idea of removing as much as possible around the key features of new elements, to be filled in by connecting pieces instead, is just great thinking. And (spoiler alert) that 1x1x2/3 with stud on the side AND rounded back... game-changer.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Porsche looks amazing

Gravatar
By in United States,

So we are supposed to believe that LEGOs “cost” has increased by 25% in one year?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Speed champions is one of my favorite themes, but none of these appeal to me, sadly.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh finally, the mighty F1!!!

YES! Still the best-looking supercar of all time, to me. Just an absolute beauty. Elon Musk should've been jailed wrecking his.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The price increase on the single cars is annoying, but these sets continue to be among Lego's best.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Bad - another price increase and color-matching on prints and stickers (you know it will be)!

Good- nice models of good cars and the imminent price reductions from 3rd-party sellers. Can't wait to buy these next summer or fall for $15.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Ferrari: Looks nice enough, not as interested in that specific model. Might get on sale.
Pagani: Finally a Pagani, but not a Zonda. Shaping looks incredible though I'm not familiar with the source car. Will probably get just for how good it looks. Plus, I suspect this might be the only SC car that can be built completely stickerless and still look 99%.
Porsche: Complete meh. Give me a 1978 935 Moby Dick or 1972 2.7 RS and I'm all over it. I love when they do famous vintage cars.
McLaren: Hnnngggg an F1. 'nuff said.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

My lord if the windshields on all of these were stickers...incredible looking lineup! Not sure if I'll pick any of these up, but that Pagani looks really good (if only it wasn't a light-grey blob to match my other larger light-grey blob sets).

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are great and all but as far as my interests go, more movie cars and we’ll talk.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Holy smokes that orange F1 looks amazing

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I went through the Brickset archives and found that Lego has only made 5 Ferraris in something other than red, and 4 of those were polybags. The fifth was a Racers F430 in yellow from 15 years ago.
Please, Lego/Chris, take heed of other colors for the marque! https://www.carlabnews.com/all-news/ferrari-812-competizione-in-blue-proves-not-all-prancing-horses-have-to-be-red/

Will they ever make BMW cars? I'd love a 2002 Turbo (sucker for those vintage models; I might even want it in 6-wide for more accuracy against the wider modern supercars). An M1 would be classic too, especially if they did the Andy Warhol version though that would be sticker hell. The e30 M3 is a solid contender as well.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Oh my, the McLaren F1 LM is a work of art.

So is the Lego version!

Hurry up March, I want this!

I was hoping when they made the Technic bike, they'd consider using the license to make some SC BMWs. I have an E92 M3, so i'd love to see an E30, which would be super easy to make with Lego

I know BMW doesn't have the same iconic models that some other brands do, but a few would be nice. The E30 would be quite easy, almost boring considering what they're doing with things like the Utopia, but it paired with another classic or a 2002 would be nice.

My hope for an ultimate 2 pack is Subaru and Mitsubishi WRC cars. I made a 4-wide 22b for my city, so an 8-wide version would be fantastic. Add in an Evo for head-to-head races and you're gonna sell boatloads of em.

Given how well they can shape now, I wouldn't be sad to see a modern F-type and a classic E-type. The XJ220, while truly a speed champion, would just look...meh. It's not really interesting in a shape perspective.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Well passing these one. I am a car enthusiast but non of it recognisable or important for me to collect them. Espacially after excellent Lamborghini Countach and Aston Martin DB5, expected more classic known cars either modern or modern classic. Even really classic models.

No Herbie, yet. :(

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Not a single older model car! :( Still waiting for some 1950s or 1930s race cars, as well as any other vintage/classic cars.
I'd have thought we would have at least got some more 1970s cars in those 'comparison' sets.

Gravatar

Pretty strong lineup! My favourite is the Pagani, which is weird because I'm not a huge fan of the real car. The Lego version looks super classy though!

It's called SPEED Champions. Nothing about the Delorean was speed. In Back to the Future, they actually had to break open the speedometer and change the display because the stack dial didn't even go up to the famous 88MPH. It was a hunk of junk...with cool-ass doors. (Having said that, I would still love a small Speed Champions set of one...)

I'd love a more accurate Senna, or F40,
we have already gotten one car like that though
which is the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, the McLaren P1 could also use a remake, it doesn't look that good in 6 wide, but could be amazing in 8 wide

The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?

By in Netherlands,

What an amazing line-up of SC (again)!

Some new and/or IMO interesting 2023 things I read in the comments above plus some things noticing myself (anyways, not all mentioned here yet AFAIK?)

*new SNOT piece(s?)
*9-wide chassis and body for the McLaren Solus GT (what's next? 7-wide SC?)
*2 different new tapered wedge/ slope pieces (both McLarens and another type on the Pagani)
*use of an A-Wing tail fin (in black; Porsche 963)
*new 4-wide windscreen piece (McLaren Solus and Porsche 963)
*No idea about that interesting -sideways build(?)- looking Technic-like construction at the back of the Solus (underneath the rear wing)?
*some recoloured parts
*unfortunately (but understandably) no interior room for 3 seats in the McLaren F1 (to make a road legal version)
*semi-circle 1 x 2 tiles in trans clear (Porsche 963 headlights)
*NPU on the Pagani (ice skates and classic Town/ City vehicle doors) and the McLaren F1 (oar pieces) and the Solus (game pad for steering wheel)
*anything else I possibly missed ;-)

Happy New Year everyone!

Same here. Most of the cars I don't even know, let alone care about. Money saved.
Only noticed the proportions of the Porsche look kind of weird. The wheels seem so tiny compared to the rest of the vehicle.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My boy got a couple of Mega Bloks Hot Wheels cars amongst his Christmas horde. Covered in bright logos but not a sticker in sight. Come on Lego.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I got one of this range as a gift some time back (the yellow one).
I really, really don't think fast cars are ever a good idea BUT I have bought more for myself since.
Why? You know why! You get really interesting building techniques and a very solid, satisfying, compact end product (that doesn't take up too much storage space...)
Do I believe that LEGO's costs have gone up 30% in 6 months?
Yes I do. You should attempt to buy electronic components...

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

These new lower wheel arches makes a lot of difference, the cars that came before gonna look blocky in comparison.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Not one of these cars makes me run to the shops... and I love Speed Champions.
The Pagani is probably the best looking one of the bunch, the Ferrari is just ugly.
That's 5 out of 5 2023 SC cars I'm not interested in :-(
What a change from last year.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

will never understand the appeal. These, yet again, look nothing like the respective cars. Especially the porsche has the completely wrong proportions....

Yes, and the same is used on the McLaren Solus. It is a new 4-wide version of the also new 6-wide one used on the Pagani.

@OptimShi:
I mean…they made a Ford Bronco. Of all the SUVs they could have done, I can’t think of any that are more associated with being driven slow.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look great! I'm spotting plenty of new parts (or at least new to me) already. I'm excited to get more images of what these look like from the back, especially for the Mclaren F1 and the Pagani.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Speed Champions is in my top five favorite themes. I love it to death.

But whoa…it’s really jumped it price. And keep in mind this is perception, I understand the reality. But I remember $15.00 cars. And it wasn’t that long ago. Now I’m seeing $25.00 cars.

It’s…a lot. I understand those were 6-wide cars. I understand times have changed, inflation, blah blah blah. But I gotta be honest…my times haven’t really changed. I’m not making that much more money in 2023 than I was in 2019.

I’m sorry, I know it’s a tired complaint and no one wants to hear it, and this isn’t a support group. I’m worried that I may have to alter my LEGO habits…I already slowed it down to a crawl the latter part of the year due to a mini financial crisis I had. Moving forward I’m just nervous about it. I guess everything non-essential.

These LOOK fantastic though. I do love this theme!!

Lol I know all about the horrific quality of the cars and I know all about "Mr. Delorean" the criminal, but the Delorean just has to be the absolute best looking car of all time. Pictures do not do one justice. Im fortunate enough to have one in my area that I see cruising around, and in real life, it is a sight to behold. There is nothing like a Delorean for the simple "cool factor" Not to mention, its use in BTTF turns the cool up to 11!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice. None of these really speak to me, but I always love seeing what new things they come up with for Speed Champions. Would love to see a Lancia Stratos, preferably with Transformers Wheeljack coloring.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Love that McLaren F1 LM! Seems about as good as possible with Lego, and not too bad on the sticker front. Unfortunately it comes with that Solus, which A) doesn't look that great and B) I just don't care one bit about.

Mixed feelings about the Pagani, seems like a decent rendition, I just don't like the real thing. Either a Zonda or a Huayra would be great, but this Utopia looks like a weird dystopian mix between those two.

The Porsche looks good.....but is one big sticker hell and therefore an easy pass. And the Ferrari......is not bad but just not that interesting.

Not sure how it's in the USA, but here in the Netherlands I recently picked up three for 36 euro, and mostly they're available on amazon for 15 or 16 euro each. I feel the actual prices are still the same as when the MSRP was 20 each.
