Perfect... Jazz Club time!
Waiting for the pizzeria car. Than it’s going to be Jazz Club time for me!

Yes, would have been handy! Must be fairly imminent.
Why on earth is the Houses of the World threshold so ridiculously high? My eyes bugged out of my head when I saw that number. It's not very large or complex compared to other GWPs...
$400 Dollarydoos?! Ooooof. I really wanted 40583, but that’s a huge threshold…
Year of the rabbit was already the gift with purchase with a spend threshold of $88 in the physical Lego stores ...
After Blacktron now is the time for me to ignore these baits. Those were the days...
As the threshold for Houses of the World is so high I would expect them to start with the best, or least a very good one, to tempt people in. I find this one very unappealing so have no desire to own them all. The World of Wonders GWP coming in the next couple of months has a similar threshold and actually looks very good, more like the Tribute to LEGO House. The Houses of the World set really doesn't warrant the same threshold as those two.
I was intending to buy the Jazz Club next month to get the Pizza truck but if it's a similar size to the LEGO Delivery Truck available last August then £200 is too high for that.
What happens to the GWP sets that are left ungiven after their availability date expires?
Good luck to everyone chasing the new GWP's, I hope everyone is able to get what they're after in the coming period, honestly!
I am currently out of hobby money and out of storage room, display room and building room. Very happy though with not one but two Blacktron Cruisers to assist my already overcomplete vintage Blacktron I fleet. (And my son will be happy tomorrow when he can open his birthday presents that helped a lot in granting me the BT Cruiser GWP's! P.S. Before anyone might think I'm greedy and do not share GWP's ; my son is not at all into Space themed sets and neither did he show any interest in the coming GWP's. Lucky me then I guess) :-D

Any leftover GWP's might return later in the year, again as GWP or sometimes you'll be able to 'buy' them for a certain amount of VIP points later in the year.
I'm joining the "got Blacktron now I'm done" club. I got the Blacktron set entirely unintentionally, certainly didn't plan to. So I feel satiated, and my wallet feels as empty as ... well, it actually is empty.
Thanks LEGO but no thanks.
Hmm, while I do have an amount of that at the ready I am wondering when that offers starts for the US.
In Canada, the threshold for the Blacktron 40580 was $250. It was outrageous but I ordered stuff for that amount as it was a reasonably desirable set for me (despite the stickers). If the threshold for the house is AUD$400, I suppose it will be near CAD$375 (AUD/CAD = 0.9343).
I have no interest whatsoever about this house - so I'm not worried about that promotion at all (the other 3 of the series might be very good and this will increase their combined value but it is a poor start IMO). I will be watching from the sideline to see how this goes. Just like I periodically watch how many people bought 76210 and 76215 (not that many - or they are ashamed to tell they did). Same thing happened with the Christmas ice rink 40416 a few quarters ago - too difficult to get so people did not (initially but was easier to get later - also due to stock availability).
I think Lego is now stretching the limit of what it can ask people to pay for a product that is no longer top quality. Note also that most of us (i.e. AFOL) have been acquiring sets for many years; even if Lego sets were very cheap, eventually you run out of space, time or interest. What Lego needs to do is ensure the next generation will also behave emotionally due to nostalgia!
I will try to get the rabbit though - I'm ok with that threshold.
Eighty Quid. Tempting. Even though I still haven't opened the Blacktron Cruiser.
Problem is, see, the sets I'd go for aren't yet or are already out of stock.
I missed the first three "Year of the... " animals, so missing the rabbit won't hurt too much.
Or wait for the VIP points offer. If I remember to look.
I remembered to hold d some purchases back so I could get the Year of... set.
Looking forward to Mr. BunBun!!!
The threshold would be outrageous if it was just for the Houses of the World, but it's not. It's for the VIP Add-on pack + Rabbit + Houses of the World and, as such, I think it's fine.
When GWPs were mostly only up to around £120 thresholds there wasn't really any bonus for getting a £250 set. I much prefer the way it's done now, with a sliding scale of multiple GWPs. That is, of course, on the basis that I don't consider any GWP to be a 'must have', so any with thresholds above sets that I'm planning to buy I pass without a second thought.
$400aud - Lego being awesome and helping me make 0 purchases this year!
Not sure where post this....
Costco has 4 nice big, heavy duty plastic shoe display , clear box , stackable
15L 10H 12D approximate think
has side+front door opens
great lego just $35 =get 4 total that price
You know...GWPs were supposed to ENTICE people to buy at LEGO's website, right?
Well, when your prices were ridiculously and unjustifiably hiked, you should make sure your GWPs are great to make up for the extra money we have to spend buying from you rather than, say, Amazon, LEGO.
I've already skipped the Blackthron GWP because I found the threshold pathetically high.
I will be doing even more so with these "houses of the world".
LEGO will have to do A LOT better than this for me to spend this much money on their store when I can buy the same sets elsewhere for at the very very least 20% off year-round.

Don`t forget "SKUFFEN" at IKEA, 36x29x21 cm, clear acryl plastic stackable box for about $25.

only link i can find but in store has 4 for 35$
UK thresholds are £80 & £220. Details added before midnight but old GWP still showing in basket at the mo.
Rabbit is for £80 spend, Houses of the World is £220 spend!
Nice try with the "Houses of the World" Lego, but I won't bite. Honestly, I'm getting tired of the ridiculously high thresholds for GWP that are becoming more and more common.
Skipped blacktron, it was nice and all but that $250 was too high. Then they drop a $400 one.
Its clearly a test of consumers elasticity to spend to obtain collectable sets.
Most will end up in the hands of resellers in aftermarkets at high prices.
Dang. $250 for Houses of the World? I don’t want the rabbit gwp, so I guess I’ll continue to wait for something really good or at least less “expensive.”
OMG, the threshold for the 40583 "Houses of the World" in Norway is 2800 NOK, equal to £235/$285. Just WHY?! I got it with a 2nd Jazz Club + some additional sets, but anyway, it doesn`t make any sense.
You'd think that £220 as a threshold was sufficiently high that while it will provide a free gift for people who were going to buy something anyway, it will hardly tempt that many people to make an impulse purchase... and so what's the actual point of it?
anyone know the thresholds for the U.S.?
Spend thresholds are ridiculous boo Lego
what is up with not being given the information about GWP's and their thresholds till the last min when they go live on the lego site?..less than a hr. to go and still no info
LEGO purchases over $250.

well we know that now that it went live on the site, and rabbit is $85
I purposely waited until the CNY parade set was available to place my order with the Jazz Club to get these GWPs. With the points I had saved up and a gift card for Christmas I got the Jazz Club for free. I'm happy.
So I want the house set, but this is possibly the first time I will have to pass on a GWP I actually want... $250 is too much, and it looks like many of you agree!
At that price hard pass, the Jazz Club will wait for the Architecture GWP (probably February).
Also, this is a recent addition. It wasn't there when I bought the brickheadz on the 1st of January:
https://www.lego.com/en-gb/themes/lord-of-the-rings
The intro mentions sets from Lord of the Rings, Rings of Power and a 'Arkenstone' so Hobbit as well??

I agree with you totally!...1st time for me as well to pass on one I would have liked to get

Good catch! Hadn't seen that before indeed, . I hope they will refrain from a black panther style bust of Azog the Defiler, a UCS-style barrel run or a 4000+pc replica of the Arkenstone itself ;)
So are we assuming a £880 spend to get all 4 houses?
@MegaBlocks said:

Yes, unless they increase it for the last one, just to twist the knife a little more.
@tripeman said:

the physical stores sometimes gift them away after the date anyways. That's how I got a second 40563 in the first week of january :)
$350 CAD threshold. Without knowing what the other 3 sets look like its not hard to pass up on this as the 1st set just isn't enticing enough to bother with the series...especially if one has to make 4x$350 purchases.
Just don't give in on the "Limited edition" collectibles crap. It's the only way to stop this madness with exaggerated thresholds for a cheap GWP that was made of spare parts from Friends. It's nice to get a freebie, but not if it leads to FOMO and pressure to collect them all while having to spend over a grand on sets.
Knowing that there is expected to be a Jazz Club linked GWP at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb means I'm holding off on my big new year purchase. I got caught out with last year's vintage taxi. I like the little house but not more than my planned modular shelf.
One wonders how they set these crazy GWP thresholds? Every new one seems to get higher and higher, where will it end?
I guess we don’t know when exactly the Monkie kid marketplace polybag GWP will happen?
On the UK Lego site, 40583 Houses of the World is only a VIP GWP.
@MegaBlocks said:
"So are we assuming a £880 spend to get all 4 houses?"
I'm assuming an £880 spend over the next year or so to get £880 of D2C sets that I will already want, irrespective of extras, plus 12 GWPs as nice, but not essential, bonuses.
$250 for a house that’s not minifigure scale? Easy pass. I might get the rabbit though if there happens to be something I need to pick up during the offer period.
I'm struggling to come up with $250 worth of sets that I'm willing to purchase right now just to get this Limited VIP gift. I mean I have plenty on my wishlist but not sure this particular item is really worth it. I know I don't care about the upcoming Bionicle one but I 'd hate to jump on this one only to see something better show up in February. I really miss the monthly calendars.
I had a ton of brixkheadz in my wish list so decided to buy them all before they disappear again, with a few other small sets, and met the threshold for all 3 gifts. I was going to buy them at some stage so I said I might as well get them now with the mini house available.

Doesn't really work like that does it? Particularly when you can always pick up the D2C sets cheaper at Smyths or John Lewis. Plus you're assuming that the D2C will be worthwhile, like the Hulkbuster and Table Football?
This GWP isn't even good imo.
43202 : The Madrigal House is a very good alternative, and at proper minifig scale.
I am happy that I finally decided to obtain the Blacktron GWP!! The house of the World 1 has a terribly high limit!!

It works exactly like that for me. But then, I only get sets that I like, and only when they're not already available cheaper elsewhere.
You can't ALWAYS pick up D2C sets cheaper in Smyths or John Lewis. Some, occasionally, at best.
And no, I'm not assuming a D2C will be worthwhile to me but I have a fairly constant backlog already in my wishlist and known upcoming releases that will add to it.
So, as usual, both of your facts are fiction.
$250 for that????
40575 £80, €85, $85, AU$140
40583 £220, €250, $250, AU$400
40605 £45, €50, AU$80
Look at the Australian prices compared to everyone else. I've argued Lego's prices for Australia are ridiculous, here's the proof. ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Auxiliary Cost) exists, so those of you overseas please stop denying it.

Just reporting on reality. Check the deal websites for offers. Not denying reality to make a false point. I've bought most of the D2C through JL, Smyths and Argos in the past year and made worthwhile savings.
If you're not that interested in GWP why don't you just buy everything outside of GWP periods?

There are still plenty of D2C , even some small sets, that never are sold outside of LEGO.com , so the method to get discounts via other retailers does not "ALWAYS" apply.
Currently in my country, there's 1 other website that sells sets like 10305 , or 10307 , but at a HIGHER price compared to LEGO, even the 80109 after it retired, it's currently sold at 30% higher price, never been on discount ever.
(not including retailers from other countries, or "private" stores like Bricklink/eBay etc)

I bought one at the Discovery Center earlier this month.
It's an easy pass, $400AU spend for a GWP is too much.
Also GWP stacking is not a good enough excuse to permit these higher thresholds.
I get that it's essentially three GWPs with that $250 threshold, but that still feels like too much for me to spend right now.
I might call my local store and see if they have any of 40580 left. If I could get 4 GWPs for that $250, it's a little more justifiable. At the same time though, I don't want to encourage Lego to continue these practices.
What is the USD threshold for the Lunar New Year bag?
It’s a cute house. It’s not $250 cute.

Nope, but it serious made me consider getting 43202 : The Madrigal House before it retires.
I was half considering placing an order before midnight which would have included 40583, but it's already disappeared from the site. Given the comments on this post, I can't believe it's out of stock, looks like they removed it a little early
