By in United States,

Damn! I'm getting this the moment it goes on sale...

Or, to get a good GWP (same thing).

EDIT: The use as a pencil holder is disconcerting. Like using a skull case. Yikes!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Looks very good! But should have hair. Pencils don't quite do the trick...

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Looks perfect, love the prints but a big NO for the pricetag.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it looks great - saying that though, and I know it’s just a helmet, but I think it looks like it’s missing something without it actually being on a head. Some brick built forehead and floppy hair on top would round it out nicely I think.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That looks pretty good.

Are those printed tiles for the eye pieces?

Holds more pencils than a DOTS pencil pot, too!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Is it a helmet or a mask?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It’s too expensive to look that unfinished

Gravatar
By in Australia,

absence of hair is slightly disconcerting.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The level of detail is incredible, and I love the eye prints. It just seems rather low in piece count for the price, even though I think the display value at that price is pretty good.

This looks great! I'm really finding it hard to kick my helmet habit. They're not that fun to build, but I love the way they look.

I'm in the no-hair camp I think, I think trying to build in flesh and hair would make it a bit creepy. But I bet it'll be easy enough to make an insert for people who want it filled in.

I'm with you. It would look like a decapitated head (and shrunken at that).

Also agree price is outrageous.

He was in Star Trek, right? Right?

I haven't been interested in helmets so far. Only got Darth Vader's helmet (got it as a xmas gift from work), but this I must have. It's beautiful!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Helmet is the best they've done so far but that price tag is unforgiveable.

Why can they never get it right.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It looks nice, but I would have preferred it with some brick built hair sticking out of the top, as it is it just feels a bit empty.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

First good looking Marvel/DC mask!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like all those helmet sets. A lot of people seem to enjoy them and they keep the number of sets I want to buy low(er). For me, sets need to have play value as well and yeah, well...

This particular one is somewhat cooler than the others somehow because of the potted plant possibilities.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I saw these helmets in person for the first time today and they are TINY!

I cant believe people are paying $80 for these.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That is a very expensive pencil holder.
What is here looks good! I just think there’s better value with Star Wars. Those helmets are actually complete most of the time.

All jokes aside, the level of detail is incredible, and I love the eye prints. It just seems low in piece count for the price, even though I think the display value at that price is pretty good."

Ah yes, that dude who sounds ***EXACTLY*** like Super Mario.

Further jokes aside, I do like this mask, a lot. I'm going to disagree with the people who would like to add Chris Pratt's decomposing scalp to this build, I think it looks fine as is. And those printed pieces look very, very useful for custom builds - dang, even the helmet itself looks like an abandoned ship or planetoid for my daring spacepeople to explore.

I like it a lot."

Nowhere?!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Unsure how they have reached 600 pieces with no interior and the smaller sized helmet. The pair of scissors sticking out of the head reminds me of a horror film, but I cannot remember the name.

If it comes with the pens and scissors, I'm getting it... heck, I'd even get it day one :)

I wonder how well this would work as a pot for the smaller flower sets like 40646 and 40524.

Damn, messed up that one!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Also, Jang is going to love the picture with the lady in the background, reading a book. At least this time she's not sitting in "the bunker". :-)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I see nothing worth the 10€ bump to the already overpriced line.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

How they managed to creep in another €10 for what will probably be the standard price for these things, starting with this smaller example, is beyond me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

You can tell it's a decent set as nobody has made an April 1 'joke'.

Of course, the default complaints about the price are there. Is there a button you can add to your profile that just posts that automatically?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If you all think this is expensive wait until you see the rrps for the summer releases that I got sent yesterday

Gravatar
By in United States,

$80????????

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Finally a vase to my botanical sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm having flashbacks to a Simpsons Treehouse of Horror where an evil demonic pumpkin is scooping out Principal Skinner's skull.

"Is there a particular part of my brain you're looking for, or...?"

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

"Who are you?"
Star Cup.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nothing new to add really but yeah this would be a ripoff at 50$. We've lost the plot Lego, and most customers won't be paying your 30% luxury tax for things that aren't even appealing. I'll keep building new things with all my old (and mostly higher quality) pieces.

Gravatar
By in United States,

$80??? Can you imagine spending $100 CAD or $120 AUD? I can't, and I won't. Not for a mask.

And I love this mask, it's one of the cooler aspects of the MCU costumes, but this just doesn't cut it. Idk, when I look at other sets for $80, these just don't feel worth it any more.

Pencil holder "feature" just kinda seems like trolling. lol. Sorry to be so negative everyone. If you like it, I'm glad! Buy the crap out of it.

Really, the writing instrument to keep in there would be a quill.

Gravatar

I’d comment about how someone scooped his brains out, but we all know he never had any.

@J0rgen:
They did in The Dark Knight. Well, _one_ did, anyways…

@ambr:
Deadward Scissorhead!

@vizzitor:
You could certainly plunk one of the succulents in there. The bonsai might also look amusing.

Ugh. Thanks for the heads up.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If I wear the helmet will it allow me to voice every single animated character in Hollywood for no particularly good reason?

Gravatar
By in Finland,

Those eyes make great spaceship thrusters.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I'm starting to think that people who buy lego for the official price do it after they bought their other drugs first.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks great from the front at an angle just below level. I'm afraid it won't look nearly as good from any other angle.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like it, might get it but I think some modification will be in order...I'm just not sure I like the dual use as a pen cup, would have rather seen hair. Also not digging the price.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another great helmet set! It took a moment to get used to it not having hair poking out, but I think I like it more now. Using it as a pencil holder though... Would their target audience even do that?

Gravatar
By in United States,

This looks phenomenal until I noticed the price...yeesh. So if it ever goes on a decent sale, I will likely pick it up. Otherwise I may have to go without. The helmet series is quite clever, but yeah the scale is tiny. When I first built Iron Man I was shocked at how small it was.

But otherwise this is a nice looking set. The designer should be applauded. The marketing team (or the people in charge of pricing these), not so much.

Gravatar
By in United States,

About $30 too much. I won't.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

As someone who doesn't really care about helmets, both this and the Boussh sets look freaking amazing. I won't buy either of them, but props to the designers for doing such a good job of it.

Gravatar

I do not get it.. What is it people like about the helmets? Is it a helmet or mask? You can certanly not wear it because its tiny like all the other helmet brick blocks. If its a part of a costume you can wear, i might get the point. But other than that, .. eh.. no, just no.

Why would you want to wear a Lego helmet? It'd probably fall about as soon as you moved your jaw in the slightest.

It's a display piece. I get it. It's not for me, but it's for somebody. (I bought Thor's hammer. It's also a display piece. Not incredibly fragile, but I wouldn't want to use it with more force than is necessary to carry it.)

Gravatar

Exactly. It's just like the Speed Champions line. What is that all about? They are far too small to drive and they don't even have working engines. I thought maybe they could be used as a type of roller skate but they just fall to bits when you stand on them.

You beat me, I was going to label it the greatest comment in brickset history!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Not for me; needs an enclosed cranium. The face looks pretty good though.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The pricing I assume is related to the imminent guardian 3 movie and the IP licensing costs are probably worse than star wars.

Looks great, but that price is a real issue.

Needs discounting asap.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is the first helmet I’m tempted to buy. If I see it on sale or need to get a GWP and this fills out the order, I’ll probably crack.

Gravatar
By in France,

Lots of details ok. But not even a full helmet on the one hand, and 670 pieces for ....80 € !!! For a helmet no bigger than a child's head. It is however very well done but the prices do not end to being quite far from the realities of the afols.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You know what this would be the perfect pot for. 76217. And just like that, I added $55 to the MSRP. I gotta give credit to a coworker for putting my brain on that path.

@Lamarider:
Build incredibly detailed MOCs. MSRP will seem like a bargain when you’re dropping $50-100 on a single 6-wide vehicle.

Gravatar

@RaiderOfTheLostBrick said:

Never gonna find that on a true Star Lord.

Ba-dum-bump.

Gravatar
By in United States,

80? ....NOPE

Gravatar
By in United States,

Guess I’m part of the general consensus- looks phenomenal, probably the best helmet the company has produced, but the price is outrageous for the desk value it brings

I mean, I’d only ever buy it secondhand anyways because I refuse to give money to Disney again until/unless they drastically change their vision and values, but even if I didn’t have that rule in place- $60 for this, tops, brand new is all I’d ever consider

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

At half the price I’d still be saying I’ll wait for a discount.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yep, it's the best helmet ever--the first one that actually had me looking at the price!

Yep, it's grotesquely overpriced.

Maybe I can figure out a way to Bricklink it without spending even more for the expensive pieces than the set costs...or maybe I can just live without it. Ah, well.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

The first helmet that actually looks very good.

Still not enough to buy it, but good job designer!

Gravatar
By in Costa Rica,

What an amazing idea, or plant the Groot set in it, I planted him in the Orchids-set pot

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Looks really good, but the tubes seem a bit oversized? Source material has some kind of fitting going over the tubes and attaching with a flat part

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Turing:
I commented about that yesterday, and having had a day to think about it, it might require redesigning Groot’s legs. I think I might give it a go, and mount a Rocket minifig on his shoulder for good measure.

Dont get me wrong, i do not want to wear a lego helmet. But in that case it would make some sence to put out sets like these. For me Lego that only stands somewhere to look at without any function is useless beside the parts which in any case compared to PaB walls is just emensevly expensive. Oh i am sorry in this mask you can put pencils in, so i guess it has some kind of function, shure. What a coincidents, -leave the hair and you can put your pencils in. WOW! What a lame excuse.

@ShinyBidoof
The speed champions have functions which is to drive around and putting different minifigs in to have a try and my kids love to play with them. To me they arent any display items. If i would give my kids such a helmet to play with they would just look at me and ask me what to do with that! Besides i wouldnt want to own any of these Speed champions in real life, even if i could buy them.. Driving a car just have to get me from a to b, nothing else.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have no interest in the theme at all, but this one looks INCREDIBLE!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

It's a miniature mask (not helmet), and based on famous movie as a merchandise (buildable in this case).. but Lego will call it what it wants, and people will still buy it and 'add to the collection'. Maybe that's called 'fun'.

As you prefer! I think they look terrible, but i have to admit that i hate star wars in total and the other helmet things from Marvel etc. are also nothing to display in my home. To me a nice display set is the Ford Mustang, the Jazz Quartet or the 3 in 1 Majestic Tiger only to name a few. They are also very well worth their price compared to the licensed helmet things which are not even fun to build if i have a look in the instructions... anyways i guess TLG produces sets for everyone these days.
