First look at 2014 Chima minifigs
Posted by Huw,
The back of the instruction manual of the Legend Beast provides us with the first pictures of the 2014 Chima minifigs.
As could have been predicted, the characters names begin with the first letter of the species' name, except in the case of the scorpions and spiders where the first two letters have been used.
I was going to pass on them, but having just seen how cool Spinlyn looks, I will have to think again. It looks as if the set she comes in, which we don't have an image of yet, might be an exclusive because it's not shown in the back of the instructions.

So, the spiders are the big bad guys now ?
Take Spinlyn and add Two legs and replace the mask on the head with Elf hair/ears piece and you have yourself a Drider. I definately like these Minifigs over Ninjago
Yes its offical. Spiders, Bats and Scorpions have taken the bad spot in this years story. I think the wolves and crocidiles are good (hence the blue side has them alongside lions ect.) And i'm sorry, but does scolder have a lightpost? Yes. xD. Scorm Looks incredible and spinlyn oh wow. Thats Just Perfect. The weapons in this kick-but! Rocket launchers! And i
worked out that the minifigures in 70133 are: Eris, Spinlyn and Rogon. :). The goodies this year have badass weapons. Rhiona's staff confirms that quote from the story 'Battles often fatal'. Rogons weapon i was like whaaaat? Gorzan has a nice looking hammer also 'Fatal'.
Spinlyn Looks AWESOME!!!!;D, I definitely want to get it, I hope we get pictures of Spinlyn's Cavern soon :D
^^Actually, Wolves and Crocodiles are good in 2014, as are all the other tribes. In 2014, the only 'bad' tribes are Scorpions, Spiders, and Bats.
But anyways, I really love the look of these minfigs! Esspeically Spinlyn.
I do like where the figs are going even if I dont follow the cartoon much.
Very nice and, like everyone else, must have Spinlyn. :)
What/ who is Shadowind? His name does not start with an L...
@TH3_L3GO_G3N1U5, a speacial lion in disguise :)
^^ I think he might be Lavertus, I'm not sure though :P:P
@Patch22 Evidence?
^ I've just heard things about it on the Message Boards on LEGO.com ;)
Also I've Heard that Shadowind was banished to the Outlands, And one of Next years sets are Called Lavertus' Outland Base, So it would make sense Right? :D
@TECHNIC222: ShadoWind has the same head as Lavertus in the images.
@Patch22 Yes. the outland base was spotted in the UK!
@Coson Yes. I just noticed.
^It was? Can you tell me where I can find and image?
Ah, cool. :)
Can anyone figure out what piece is attaching Spinlyn's torso to the Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Bar Frame Octagonal?
It's obvious (and not very good-looking, those plain bely pieces stick out like a sore thumb) in Scutter's case, but Spinlyn's design seems different.
Great NPU for the back bit of Spinlyn. Last thing I expected to see the ice ball piece as!
Shadowind and Scolder are CGI, while everyone else are real minifigures, and Spinlyn has a dark brown meteor. A year ago, I thought those were out of production.
@TH3_L3G0_G3N1U5: Shadowind is a mysterious Speedor racer from the show. I believe in the show he wears a helmet so you can't tell what tribe he hails from. I don't know any details beyond that because I haven't watched any of the show besides the first three episodes, which I felt were a big disappointment.
@coson: Technically, the "crown" printing is different between the two figs, but I think you're probably right that they're one and the same character.
@ninjagoyo It looks to me like a basic 2x2 round brick (6143) with some simple hinge plates on top to attach the abdomen.
It's not that Chima was ever a bad theme/idea for kids, but for me, I don't have the space for the vehicles in my collection. The older NinjaGo sets always had more variety, so if I wanted a minifigure I could purchase a set with a dragon or building instead of a skeletal-buggy-thing. The bad guys in this wave of Chima are a lot more desirable than pretty much all the other previous Chima minifigures combined, so I too am tempted to purchase a few. Seeing how we already saw the images of the 2014 Chima, I'm dissapointed. Unless money falls from the sky, or these sets somehow go for 50%off (which is seemingly a stretch for anything in Canada during the last two years), I won't be budging to buy Chima... If my glass cabinets were empty, maybe, but currently they're jammed full of Lego!
Scorm's armour piece is also a new mould... :-) Will need more of those for my scorpion army!
I think the wolves, crocodiles are good because they all go to save craggers dad in the Outlands. The scorpions, spiders and bats are the tribes in the Outlands whom are bad. I like the idea of the storyline but I don't like the look of the sets. To be honest this years sets are better.
This theme had so much potential, it's just sad how Lego really dropped the ball on this one. It's no surprise that this theme isn't very popular here in the States (which seems opposite from the UK go figure). Rhinos are cool, but fans of the show also want beavers and bears, not more lions and eagles. Will pick up a few of the spider and scorpion minifigs, but overall I'm not too impressed with this next wave (except for the legend beasts for the new joints).
@ Coson, You can Find Pictures of the set on Youtube :D:D
Oh man, I have to have Spinlyn. I haven't been collecting the set as it doesn't appeal to me but Spinlyn really does. I wonder how much her set will be?

The spiders are so well done, they're icking me out. I totally hate spiders, so for a minifigure to have that effect, that's pretty cool!
^^ Maybe roughly £30-£40? Going by the fact that it's set number is lower than the outland base set which is £50 (confirmed in TRU). This wave seems pretty darn cheap to me.
Here's the RRP's in GBP for all the Chima sets:
Legend beasts 70123-70127: £7.99
70128 £12.99
70129 £17.99
70130 £19.99-£24.99
70131 £24.99
70132 £34.99
70133 £29.99-£39.99
70134 £49.99
Speedorz 70135-70139 £9.99
70140 £14.99
The ones I'm not too soure on are 70129, 70130 and 70133 btw, but the rest I'm pretty certain on the prices, if the speedorz sets follow the same price structure as last year's of course!
I'm guessing US prices will be similar numbers.
You can now Order Scorm' Scorpion Stringer on The entertainer website for £34.99 :D Though I don't think I've got the Money at the moment, Oh well Maybe Next Month:( :P :D
My kids love Chima. And I think the new tribes and the probable changes of sides of the old tribes will be really exciting to them. It will also change the way they make up their own battles/stories and give them more possibilities. The only problem is - more tribes - more sets - more cost to us! Why are the episodes not available on DVD yet though? (except the 3 episode freebie).
Nice to see a nice heroine addition to Rhinoceros Tribe and a new brilliant villainess (but where's Crooler?) It seems that the froce of tribes are different this time which is the same thing TLG did with Ninjago.
Chima just gets stranger... oh, well, as long as TLG doesn't loose any money I don't care. :P
Those spiders look rad!
I'm also digging the bats and the rhinos. The lions...well, I was never a fan of the lions honestly.
I told myself I wouldn't buy chima but seing those spiders and scorpians I just think they would go so well with the ninjago snakes I think my wallet cant resist.
