Available at LEGO.com from 1st May
After unveiling the game-changing 9X8 hypercar last year, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies has embraced a new engineering challenge – recreating the epic new hybrid hypercar in LEGO Technic form. Car enthusiasts and LEGO lovers - say hello to the LEGO Technic PEUGEOT 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar.
In a feat of engineering excellence, the design teams from LEGO Group and Peugeot Sport have created a precise 1:10 scale version of the pioneering 9X8 hypercar. From the sleek silhouette down to the lime flashes on the livery, this new LEGO Technic model brings the allure of the 9X8 to life. The 9X8 demonstrates PEUGEOT’s pursuit of electrification and embodies the brand’s zest for competition at the highest level.
The real-life 4-wheel drive hypercar’s electric powered 7 speed transmission has been replicated in precise scale in this new model, which also sports the hypercar’s unique doors, low-emission hybrid powertrain system, powerful suspension, and elegant profile. Fantastic details such as the V6 engine and glow-in-the-dark light elements truly capture the thrill of racing.
Speaking about the 1,775-piece marvel, Kasper René Hansen, Designer at the LEGO Group said:
“Our two brands have come together to create a product that celebrates a new era of hybrid racing and engineering. Recreating the shapes and details of such an elegant car using LEGO Technic elements wasn’t an easy feat, but it’s been an honor to work so creatively with the Team Peugeot TotalEnergies on this one and I’m proud that together we have been able to build the hypercar for real in LEGO Technic form.”
Olivier Jansonnie, Technical Director PEUGEOT Sport:
“Our technical cooperation with the LEGO Group started in January 2022, 5 months before the PEUGEOT 9X8 reveal. It took one year to fully develop the project with the technical and design teams, allowing us to directly transpose the technical details of the PEUGEOT 9X8 to the LEGO Technic model. It was very important for both brands to create a model that is as realistic as possible. PEUGEOT, Peugeot Sport and the LEGO teams had numerous meetings about the development of the suspension and hybrid systems that cannot be replicated from photos. We thank the LEGO Group for this project, we are very proud and impressed by the final result that is more than we could have imagined.”
This latest addition to the LEGO Technic series measures over 5 in. (13 cm) high, 9 in. (22 cm) wide, and 19.5 in. (50 cm) long when fully built and is sure to provide a thrilling ride for racing and LEGO fans alike.
The LEGO version of the race car model was revealed at the first FIA World European Championship race in Portugal ahead of the real-life car taking to the tracks in preparation for its highly anticipated appearance at the Le Mans 24 Hour race on June 10th-11th.
The LEGO Technic PEUGEOT 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar set will be available via LEGO Stores and www.LEGO.com and through the PEUGEOT dealership network from 1st May.

Sure, it's fine. It looks nice. I just don't care about it. 200 seems a bit much though.
Oh Wow, this looks insane. Unexpected and cool.
I really like it, apart from the lack of A-pillars. With a windscreen that wouldn't be noticable, but without one, it's very noticable.
It looks great! ... Apart from the windscreen. It's consistent with the design language of Technic sets, but the diagonal beam supporting the roof does look a bit out of place.
And while it's par for the course for models of real-world motorsport cars: wow that's a lot of stickers.
EDIT: having seen some of the lifestyle shots elsewhere, the windscreen issue seems to be much less prevalent when looking at the car in-person. Why is LEGO box art so often unflattering to sets?!
My first thought was is this a new Batmobile? More of a fan of the 80's and 90's Le Mans cars like 42039. For a more updated version I would have gone for the Porsche 963 76916 or previous 919, especially as Porsche are always at the top in Le Mans.
Oh look, another Technic car.
Is this the same size as the Ford GT?

No, that's 1:12.
So they mention the real car has 7 speed transmission yet the Technic version has none…
Looks good. It helps that the source material is very distinctive, which makes this stand out.

Edit: Now I feel bad for the Ideas submission."
Hadn’t even seen the Ideas-submission before now, and it looks soooo much better!
I love building technic cars, and have picked up many of them since I got back into building LEGO again. And this model represents the real version very well. However, this is a dark grey rectangle of hideousness. It's so ugly! Not Lego's fault, it's the source material. It won't be going on my want list.
Amazing !!
I'm a happy owner of 42039, which completely satisfies my needs for a Technic model of a Le Mans car. Plus it was unlicensed and awesome value for money at the time (especially since I got it for 80 Euro back then).
This one to me looks more like a Batmobile. Which isn't a bad thing in itself, but I've also got plenty of Batmobiles already, and better looking ones too.
Kinda interesting. I think it looks great, about as good as it gets with Technic. And while there are obviously way too many stickers, they don't bother me that much here, and I honestly think it would still look pretty good without most of them.
As for functions, good to see both HoG-steering and a rotating steering "wheel" inside. I'm also curious about the rear suspension, you don't see much of it in that one top-down photo, but looking at the video it should definitely be there. And they are talking about the hybrid drive, there seems to be a diff in the front, but what will that do? Probably just a regular 4WD system? Or are both axles not even coupled in the real car and is in the set just there doing nothing?
(BTW, this just seems to be the least "Technic" box over, showing absolutely none of it all...)
Apart from that all it's a somewhat unexpected choice, as Peugeot isn't really a global brand, WEC is not that popular compared to, say, F1, and so far the car hasn't been all that successful either. But that doesn't make it a bad choice, just an interesting one.
And the price.....not great. Even when it's a bit bigger, I think it will be a though sell when the Ford GT is standing next to it for €80 less...
"Le Mans" is actually french for "The Mans"
I've no hesitation in admitting I like this a lot.
Batman says it’s so painful…just because of the green and not the very very dark colours.
This one is awkward because, while it matches the source vehicle quite well, the actual source vehicle kinda looks like it was slapped together using random parts from crashed space fighters, lending this set to have an amateurish post-apocalyptic salvaged batmobile feel to it. While it looks interesting in its own way, I can't say its iconic, and don't really feel it would look good on a shelf.
Hey look another technic car. At least it's something slightly different to the average supercar or sports car or 4WD car or truck.
What do you mean the previous Le Mans car was that many years ago?
And yeah. I don't know the source material but I am still of the opinion that we get too many licensed technic vehicles. And in this case it seems like the source matetial isn't the most beautiful of the bunch. I think they should have picked another licensee for this one because of the color. Or better yet: make one in-house.
Mad Max approves.
The model and car are okay but not for me. Too many sets as it is.
i love the silver colour but wonder why it is only now that we are getting it? Think of the Creator Aston Martin, the Delorean and the Harley. Why no silver bricks there? They would have been soooo much nicer that way.
Or is the answer that these are panels connected with pins so they rely less on clutch power?
So "Supercars" not good enough anymore eh?
Now we need "Hypercars"
When putting image of the real thing and the Lego model side by side, it takes quite an effort to discern it. Not a succeeded effort.

What silver color? It looks Dark Stone Grey to me.
Love the look of this. Kinda hope this leads to getting a Speed Champions 205 T16 to go along with the Audi Sport Quattro
Not sure why it’s branded as a hyper-car. It’s a competition car in the top World Endurance Championship class P1. I really dig it but I’m biased as a racer and race fan. Edit: I guess LMP1 is now called the hyper car class.

This is similar to my thoughts on the Ferrari Daytona. It all looks amazing except for the a-pillars.
I would have loved a Mazda 787B or a Toyota 88C-V.
I wish cars could fall out of favour in LEGO's line-up. If children were less exposed to vrooming cars around, maybe they'd grow up to not worship cars as much as today's society; our towns & cities & roads & lanes could be so much more pleasant & friendly in the future.
I am confused. Huw, could you please tag Technic car sets by their scale ?
A someone who had never seen or heard of the real version, this set looks like a joke.
I like it, I'm just not sure that I $200 like it. Maybe for $180.
One of the most interesting parts of this particular LMH is the lack of the large rear wing, which helps set it apart from the other manufacturers.
So it does have a gearbox then, wonder where this is situated as the engine looks like it drives straight into the rear diff. Unless its underneath

That Mazda would be amazing.....especially with a Wankel engine!
(a transparent one at that, otherwise you wouldn't see much happen)
And sets like these should have an appropriate sound brick :-)
Not a Technic car model buyer myself, but wow, this thing looks so cool!
Are there other Technic cars that fall under this 1:10 scale? I thought we had the 1:8 scale (2016 Porsche, 2018 Bugatti, 2020 Lambo, 2022 Ferrari) and then the 1:9 scale (2019 Porsche, 2021 Ferrari, 2023 Ford). What is this 1:10 business now?

The top class in WEC is now called HyperCar, rather than LMP1.
Certainly plan to get this myself. But may hold off building it until the Le Mans race in June, building whilst I watch race on TV.
Looks fascinating--the first car of roughly this scale that really tempts me. (It took me several years to decide to buy the Technic Rover, and I don't think I've ever bought a Technic race care that cost over $100.) I doubt I'll buy it right away, but it is going on my wishlist.
There are so many great Peugeot sport cars (205T16, 405T16 Rally/Dakar/Pikes Peak versions, 905, 206WRC, 307WRC) and they chosen this.

Maybe there is room in the license for those iconic vehicles in Speed Champions. Or maybe we'll end up getting a 2CV in the vain of the 500 and Beetle.
I kinda like this, but I also don't. LEGO really need to start printing for these pricier sets, the stickers really stand out, and I'm not sure I like the lack of a windscreen.
That said, I suspect it's much like the Formula E car in that it'll look better in person.
Is this a TINO (Technic In Name Only) or does it have functions? Can't tell. Most of the focus seems to be on the body.
I'm confused. What functions does it have?

Does it have Powered Up for the gear shifts? The real thing according to the box is 4WD, but with the V6 powering the rear wheels and electric motors the front wheels. Does it have Powered Up for the front wheels then?
They seem to have done a good job on the shape, without using too many system parts. The car is not (yet?) iconic though, and the dark grey body doesn't exactly pop. Not sure what to make of this just yet. Let's wait for the Racingbrick review.

Based on an early review the “gearbox” is just a sticker on the bottom of the car
200$ very expensive .nooo.! I'm not idiot.
Funny how "Yes, as soon as it's released" seems to be at the bottom of the list whenever it comes to things like this...

Cobi already makes a Citroen 2CV in Creator Expert scale. Go check it out.

No, that's 1:12. "
Dang it...was hoping LEGO would continue the 1:12 scale started with the Ford GT and not back to the "hollow" 1:10 scale of the previous Technic Vehicles (not to be confused with the 1:8 Technic Supercars).
2019 Porsche and 2021 Ferrari were closer to 1:10...felt like hollow cousins if their 1:8 scale brothers, the Technic Supercars
The 2023 Ford was 1:12 and considered compact and a good price. Had hoped this would continue.
Now wondering if this new one yes yet another in the 1:10 scale and they have created another scale Technic car sub-line :(
It looks like a good parts pack, but it's way too expensive. I'd rather buy something second-hand but motorized for this kind of money. Like, a couple of 9398 . I do like the look of the new corner panels, though.

Or a Sauber Mercedes C9!!
A very well done model of the real thing, and the perfect compliment to their ongoing marketing partnership with the organisers of the Le Mans 24 Hour.
It’s is very French race, hence the choice of car, instead of a Toyota or Porsche, which have won every race for the last 6 or 7 years.
It seems that Lego is averse to including windscreens for their Technic cars. To improve the windshield, they should have included a pre-cut sheet of clear Perspex which can be bent into a curve and attached using pins. Simpler and cheaper than a whole mould for a new element.
I have a desire to own all "name brand" vehicles that Lego has made, and I've got quite a few of them already. This thing though, wow, I'd say it's a swing and a miss. Boring color overall, I know it's the color of the real car, maybe pick a different car. Maybe one with some pedigree, according to Wikipedia, this thing has only ever been in 4 races, and not only has it not won any, it hasn't even landed on the podium. I'd happily pay twice the price for a vehicle this size if it were instantly recognizable, more colorful, printed pieces, and has a-pillars or a windshield. This set is very disappointing.
'The real-life 4-wheel drive hypercar’s electric powered 7 speed transmission has been replicated in precise scale in this new model' - this rather suggests that there will be a transmission in this set - which would be a first in the 1:10 series.
That said, these press releases have been known to get this kind of thing wrong in the past. It's too expensive at RRP anyway, given that the car isn't exactly a legend in it's class and Peugeot are not a marque I'd associate with high performance. Still, maybe that's just because I've not got much interest in endurance racing!

Would probably have better functions tbh

I too thought the same thing after reading this, but I've since found out there is no gearbox. So it seems the description is deceptively wrong
Oh Good! A Star Wars spin-off UCS.
No, wait- it's a ... Car?

Ah yes, the iconic Peugeot 2CV we all know and love
;-P
This is the first place I've seen that Technic "greeble" on the box art. Has that been used before?
