Among the numerous sets announced today, those exclusive to LEGO.com and LEGO stores could easily be overlooked.

However, I am certain 40650 Land Rover Classic Defender will prove popular, as the minifigure-scale companion to 10317 Land Rover Classic Defender 90! 40647 Lotus Flowers looks excellent as well, while the seasonal 40641 Birthday Cake and 40643 Jade Rabbit have also been revealed and seem fun.

By in United Kingdom,

Best stuff Lego have announced this week.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Thats my kind of Land rover.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wish they could actually be in stores near me I never see these kind of sets on the shelves these days

Gravatar
By in United States,

Really LOVE the birthday cake.
Gonna' pick pick up a few and save for nieces and nephews birthdays coming up.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I need that Rover. DO A GIB!

I can't tell if the front sticker piece can be replaced with other bricks, but if so, I'm doing it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the little Defender. This week has been absolutely wild and the sets are awesome.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That's, what, the fifth bunny set this year? I love it! I'm in heaven!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Defender is awesome, but I wish it had been an 8 wide speed champions

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Land Rover is a day one purchase.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That Defender is almost perfect!

Gravatar
By in United States,

That birthday cake is surprisingly well designed, both the interior and slope are nice expansions to the central concept. Land Rover is a nice, small car, and I'll probably pick it up if I come across it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

When I first saw these I hoped at least two were upcoming GWPs but no such luck. Do we know any May GWPs after the 7th, or June apart from the return of the flowerpot?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

ah yes, finally a land rover set I can afford

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Looks like that pineapples torso is new too. I wonder if it has back printing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's interesting that last year's 40646 Daffodils had the 18+ branding, but we're back to the "classic" look for the new 40647 Lotus Flowers. Wonder why that is?

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Dream week for Lego fans. Oh, boy!

Gravatar
By in United States,

As a packaging designer and design system wonk, it bothers me that they switched to the black box botanical collection look for 40646 Daffodils earlier this year, and now back to the generic "Iconic" line look for the Lotus flowers ??

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Gotta say this right now, I love that Land Rover!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does 40647 come in black?

Gravatar
By in United States,

My wife loves the flower sets as she isn't too great with living plants. Getting some of these is always a pleasant surprise for her.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

When does the land rover release?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like these. In fact, I like them most out of any reveals this week. The birthday cake especially; it's a cute set that incorporates DOTS-style decoration well, and the slide feature is even more fun.

1 June.

Gravatar
By in Slovenia,

the Land Rover is nice and all, but I don't like the not so subtle advertisement for the 10317.. Really, LEGO? Please don't put commercials on the backs of boxes..

Gravatar
By in United States,

wish that was an 8-wide though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It would have been nice to get Land Rover torso / T-shirt print.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Such a nice surprise the Land Rover isn't a GWP! Just wish it had side by side seating.

Gravatar
By in United States,

>jade rabbit
>just a regular white rabbit

Still a cute set.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Land Rovers are not welcome to the Speed Champions club

Jokes aside, great set. Gonna get one definitely!

Gravatar
By in United States,

That smaller Land Rover set is kinda “cute”. I like these sets.

Gravatar
By in Lithuania,

What a lovely model. And 6 stud wide!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lovely collection of threshold filler uppers! The Defender's great although I have to admit I would have preferred almost any other colour. It's one step away from being driven by a mini-doll!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I love the Land Rover, really cute. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

If you open a set of the flowers, and the parts are all black, what’s it worth?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This is great! Now give us the Creator Pickup Truck in Minifig scale too please!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm confused. I generally thought Speed Champions was for licensed minifig-scale cars and trucks, while Creator was for generic ones.

It looks really good. I'll mod it for meatier tires.

While I wish it was in Speed Champions so that it could be 8-wide, I hope this trend of always having a minifig scale version of every vehicle released in the 18+ line continues. Better than the micro-scale ones with a high spend point to acquire.

Hopefully, with this one being a 90, Speed Champions gets the 110. And preferably in red or white so it can be upfitted for emergency use.

I'm hoping John Deere comes to minifig scale. Best Lock's line sucked, Mega's line sucked.

I was thinking the same thing. The radiator in the centre is definitely a sticker, but the headlights look like either sticker or printed. If they are printed, I'm going to have to find the equivalent printing on black tiles for a recolour version

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That Land Rover is an absolute must-have!

I don't mind the color, I just like things brick built even if I lose a little detail. A lot of my Speed Champions aren't fully stickered for that reason. Quad vents would be fine, or even three vents and a jumper plate with a 1x1 round tile in green for the logo.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Curious that the Lotus flowers aren't part of the botanical collection like the daffodils.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm going to get the Land Rover, but Speed Champions has spoiled me in wanting it in an 8-wide design because 6-wide looks juvenile. ¯\_[;)]_/¯

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just want-listed the hell outta that Land Rover.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was wondering what was with the little sled thing in 40641 until I saw the back-of-the-box image. That's clever! Sort of a shame 40650 isn't the same color as 10317.

@AddictedToStyrene: I'm guessing the pieces the headlights are mounted on are printed because of that stud in the middle might mess up placing a sticker.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Oh I am gifting that Land Rover to my dad.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Curious why the land rover is creator and not speed champs

Thats Tragic, the Land Rover is a new 2023 Must buy imo

Gravatar
By in United States,

LAND ROVER!! I love that thing :P

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Land Rover is great, poor colour choice though. And I really wish it had been a Gen I or Gen II, which are much more difficult to make out of Lego and the classic charm suits Lego better.

For me t'will be one for my brother and another for my brother-in-law ;-)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Yeah, I'm definitely going to get that Land Rover. Looks a lot like the Landie from the Tomorrow When the War Began series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

40650 Land Rover (licensed) for only 14.99 USD? That has to be a mistake.. Will expect LEGO to announce it on their site for 29.99 USD

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Agreed, like $50 AU probably.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

If that RRP of 14.99 is correct, I would wager to guess that this Land Rover will make the shortlist of best selling sets of 2023.

The Defender is not renowned to be a speed champion innit? It's not a race car, it doesn't fit in the lineup. But it sure does fit in my collection, maybe even two!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Wow sets like the Landrover or Birthday cake that used to be €10 are now €15

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

The classic Defender is my favourite car, so I love this set. (I am very much disgusted by the modern monstrosity bearing the same name, that should be illegal!)

And a loaf of bread that used to be 80p is now £1.40 and a box of eggs that used to be £1.50 is now £2.60.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

First licensed Creator set?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh I am SO making a fleet of Land Rovers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm... my city doesn't have a Land Rover dealership. Is "now" the time? :-D

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Land Rover has someone shot to the top of my most anticipated sets for this summer. It's perfect!

Gravatar
By in United States,

wow that land rover

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@AdamSenna I agree! Really not sure why that train windscreen wasn't used, it's perfect for a Land Rover. Really not sure what would have been wrong with making a more classic (and in my opinion more recognisable) Land Rover.

Because a Defender doesn’t have a split windscreen.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

While I love the smol land rover, creator becoming a dumping ground for random sets really hurts to watch for someone who grew up in the theme's hayday...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The wheels are black, when one of the shades of grey would have been more accurate to that of actual Land Rover vehicles. This change would not seemingly make the set any more expensive to produce.

Er, you might want to type 'Land Rover Series 1 Defender' into a search engine.

You're welcome.

That PART is no longer in production. The train-screen, that is. And TLG has this weird habit of not producing parts that they aren't producing. Crazy, I know."

You're right. Once TLG stops making a part it's absolutely impossible to start making it again even if they want to. It's gone. FOREVER. Crazy, I know.

The train windscreen is still in production, the frame is used as a soccer goal in one of the new Friends sets. I imagine the use of the basic windscreen here might've been a budgetary consideration (like this set didn't have the budget to do a recolor of that windscreen frame).

Exactly. It's still in production, but not in the correct color. (only white right now, I think) They probably didn't have the budget for a recolor, as @lyichir said.
