Space Adventure Ride

©2022 LEGO Group

The third of four adventure rides that were originally part of last year's Toys R Us Bricktober promotion in Asia is now available in the VIP Rewards Centre at LEGO.com.

Space Adventure Ride can be yours for 2,400 points. Given its likely popularity it would be as well to redeem yours now to secure one.

You will be able to secure the fourth, Fantasy Adventure Ride, from the 11th of July.

LOL they put the sticker on sideways.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

It's sad that they are not using the same packaging than in Asia. I have them and packaging it's way too better than the one offered in the VIP rewards center.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll probably pass on these last two, they don't look anywhere near as nice as the first two did. I'm glad Lego finally made them available though.

By in United States,

Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for this one to become available.

I resourced parts for the fantasy one already, from random pieces we have and made it for our daughter. We just looked at the photo and replicated it as best we could. She likes it!

This one doesn't do it for me. It's too jumbled. I suspect fewer stacked wedge plates would help

It is under Featured Rewards at the top of the page.

I wish there was an option to use more points and they just ship the item out. Maybe cost 500-1000 points.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Didn’t we all just poopoo this thing days ago?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally ordered Rivendell a couple days ago and spent all my points on discounts. I need the thing to ship so I have points again.

By in Italy,

Ordered this morning! :-)

I am in Canada, and I did not see the reward either. I checked after midnight last night and at about 9:45 AM EST today. However, I needed to force a refresh of the VIP rewards page in my browser to see the Space ship. In the browser I use, this is accomplished by holding down the key and clicking the refresh button.

I hope this helps.

If I don't redeem the code, my VIP points don't reduce? Changed my mind, rather just save up for a big discount.

Edit: nope it took my points. Oh well I have a rocket ride :)

It's listed under the number on the instructions, not the transient SAP number used at lego.com.

As a big space fan, I'll be skipping this one, too. The design is pretty off, the minifig torso can be gotten in plenty of other places, and I don't want to be "that guy" buying it just to re-sell. I made my orders during double-VIP a week ago, I'm not going to order something I don't need (especially to meet the shipping threshold), so hopefully someone else can enjoy my copy. And PSA: redeeming the code does not reserve you a copy, nor, I believe, does even using the code on something that's backordered.

My understanding is code redemption does reserve a copy. Do you have a source?

Mostly poopooed by the poopoo gang who poopoo everything.

Others just quietly like it and get it!

@ted_lego
I ordered the Blacktron ship but the set I ordered it with was backordered. I contacted customer service to make sure that meant my copy of the ship was waiting for me in a warehouse and would ship with my order once it became available, but they said it was not and recommended I add something to my order to ship immediately (which I did right over the phone with her--I added a $5 DOTS pack for my daughter). You might contact customer service yourself if yours is attached to an order that is backordered in its entirety (but if any one item is available, you're fine). I'm sure if they ran out they'd do the right thing and refund your points, but that's only partial consolation if you were really looking forward to having the set.

@sjr60
I'm not too fond of it and I certainly don't "poopoo everything." The other stuff they've been doing in space (10497, 40580, and even 40533) lately has been fantastic and I'm clamoring for more!

Actually, the number we've used is for the TRU version. When we know the numbers on the instructions for this version (NA and ROW will have different numbers) we'll add them separately.

It would never happen. The whole point of VIP Rewards is to promote more sales (same as GWPs)!

Some poopooed the model, some poopooed the "AI" "enhancement" of the picture. That stuff is cursed - now I can't even look at this new picture without feeling that ugly "oil paint" smearing is still lurking there, right at the edge of perception.

@Ridgeheart said: "I dunno. Build this thing from the wings up, you've got a nice classic-looking mini-ship"

Nah, still looks too much like a way too tall stack of random wedge plates. I'd consider it a "mini-ship parts pack", it'd be tempting to get it just to see if I could build a better classic ship from the set alone - but I don't have any immediate orders on my list.

Doing something like that cost me my chance at (I think) the Ulysses payload VIP set that would have gone with 10283. I'm glad Brickset warned us that the last two rides were about to show up as rewards so I didn't repeat my mistake! (Because, yes, I need to collect all four!)

Getting the code is supposed to reserve the item but things can go wrong (like the end of a run getting damaged in the warehouse). I've only ever had one issue with a print becoming unavailable after securing. Everything else I've had no problem ordering, even over a month after being sold out on the VIP Rewards Centre.
I've found Customer Services to be good at resolving problems but not so good at providing accurate information!

I don't see you as a poopooer, but I think we all know there are plenty of members who just slag off everything (and don't even have a visible collection to let us see what they actually do like!)

I may have missed an earlier discussion, but does anyone know why the ship is so deep/tall? Is it to accommodate the workings, or to make it look like a kiddy ride? I think most Space fans (even me), could build something which looks more typical of the classic theme.

I'm generally not one to knock the hard work of designers, but it does seem like an odd style to go with. The whole tapered bottom section is what stands out to me, making it look like the hull of a ocean-going ship. Lose that and it looks a lot better to me.

I was on the LEGO website at 00:01, but no sign of it on the VIP page, or at 4am when I woke up momentarily. Completely forgot about it when woke up ay 7am, but luckily I had an email from LEGO which I saw at 12:30 about a delivery today, so remembered it. Got it along with a blue VIP keyring (I still have a red card)

Yes, GWPs usually appear close to midnight. VIP Rewards can be added at any time of day.

By in United States,

I was really hoping for this one, but I've only got about 1750 points in my account. Should have gone hog-wild when Double VIP points were available, I guess. It'll probably sell out long before I have the points, might have to resort to the secondary market.

lol. This gang sounds like bad news. Let's be careful out there. :o)

I think most would probably put me in the "LEGO apologist" group, if any group at all. I'm also a big fan of fiber, so I try to limit my public poopooing, wherever possible.

I think these 4 sets are simply way too big with designs way too clunky. And as far as I know, my owned/wanted sets are indeed visible here. :o)

Then you don't meet the membership rules for the PooPoo Gang, but I do smile at the defensive 'Does he mean me' replies :-)

I agree that all four are pretty clunky looking, but I think that's intentional. I think they capture the sort of kiddies rides found outside sweet shops rather well, while not trying to be that close to the rides subject matter.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Imho, and even though I'm a massive Classic Space fan, I think this is the worst of the four.
Looks like a total mess to me and certainly way below what I would consider a worthy Classic Space homage. Just compare it to the small craft in 70841 Benny's Space Squad. Far fewer pieces, but boy, how much better.

Lego will also give you additional points for the trouble (although sometimes you may have to bark at them or speak with the telephone rep manager).

Yes, even an order confirmation is no guarantee- especially if it goes to backorder. If you make an order that's not fulfilled, they have to give you additional points. After all, that's classic bait and switch. Most reps are great, but some of the new ones will fight you and you'll need to get a manager on the line. The managers I've encountered are eminently reasonable people.

I got mine!... maybe.

Quite handy that they're now offering it to all VIP Members and not forcing you to faff around pretending to be a NEW Member. Presumably soon to be discontinued, as they state 'limited stock' but offer 3 per person!

Is this based on the winner from the Lego Life contest? it was like 5 years ago, the winner was a horse like the 4th ride and it was a bigger scale..

In fairness, 70841 gave EXCEPTIONAL value for money. We shall not see its likes again, any time soon."

Very true, but I didn't even mean the value proposition, just the styling alone. This one just doesn't look attractive to me. To many clashing colours, too "busy" I think would describe it best for me.

@ComfySofa said: "The whole tapered bottom section is what stands out to me, making it look like the hull of a ocean-going ship. Lose that and it looks a lot better to me"

I think the bottom may have some potential, as it reminds me of the similar bottom on the 918 ship - move the ends together and place the seat across the seam for a nice low pilot position. I guess the rod from the base goes a bit up into the bottom on the current design, so you'll have to rework the mount if you want to retain the "ride" part.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I will agree the spaceship ride looks clunky (and cluttered, and busy given all the layered plates) and the entire series, if magically transformed to life-size, don't look like anything I'd let one of my children ride (assuming I had children, which my lego-budget prevented me from doing !), but I still want them all as a very cute collection. Trying to improve on the "official" design is part of the joy of collecting Lego, IMO.

I’m pretty close to having a white card, as I have the old laminated chrome-red card, and the laminate is peeling off. And I also have a nice pristine black card to pair with it.

@Huw
I just received mine in the mail (United States). The number on the instructions is 6435202.

The only set number I can find here on Brickset is: 6427896, which is the 2022 Toys R Us version.

Am I missing this current 2023 Yellow Box GWP version under a different number, or is there only going to be the previous Toys R Us version listed. Maybe with a note added about the 2023 GWP Yellowbox versions?

Not a big deal to me, I just added it to the Toys R Us version for now with a note that it's this GWP version for myself.

Thanks!

Andrew

By in United Kingdom,

I'm not sure why there are so many complaints about this set. As a fan of classic Space sets, I think this set is rather fun. And the set is free, after all. I've just redeemed the necessary VIP points to obtain a code for the set.

The one thing I'm a little puzzled about though is why the minifigure is holding what appears to be an old-fashioned telephone receiver. What's that got to do with being on this space ride?
