Sonic the Hedgehog BrickHeadz revealed!

Two Sonic the Hedgehog BrickHeadz sets were shown at San Diego Comic-Con last night, and have now been officially announced by LEGO.
40627 Sonic the Hedgehog and 40628 Miles "Tails" Prower will be released on September 1st, containing 139 and 131 pieces respectively, and costing £9.99 / $9.99 / €9.99.

Not gonna lie, this Sonic creeps me out a little.
The most terrifying Brickheadz I've ever seen. Love it.
Interesting that we get Sonic before Mario. Still waiting for my Mario minifigs, too!
Looks like Tails has the proper tails, at least what can be discerned from these product shots.
If enough people complain will they redesign it?
I foresee sales seeing a sharp uptick on Chewbacca.
Tails looks good! Sonic seems a bit off, but Sonic and Tails were certainly good additions to the lineup.

I didn’t realize that Tails had such a civilian name. And then there’s… Sonic. The hedgehog.
These are good, and hopefully if we get enough Lego Sonic stuff Lego will bring out a Knuckles minifig.
I prefer my versions though.

This is momentous.
I've always reviled Brickheadz because for some reason LEGO insisted on using those cold, dead eyes on EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. which made the depicted characters into charmless zombies.
These two are genuine progress.

In comparison to the og characters, they look like some kinds of nightmare animatronics, but as standalone figures I'm kinda loving them
I'm not sure why they've gone for a new eye print with the black circle behind it. As others have noted, it makes them look a little... Unsettling.
They are so high.

What are the white squares on the eyes?
Whether it's due to licensing agreements with Sega or not, but I do not like Lego using the modern Sonic for their sets (as opposed to the classic Sonic for the original Ideas set).
If these Brickheadz were based off of the classic Mega Drive (Genesis for you Americans) then they would have black eyes, and it's the coloured eyes that are the most distracting feature.

I think they’re there to represent a shine in the eyes, to give the eyes more “life”.

Were the tiny pupils _really_ necessary? I would have thought the standard BrickHeadz eye piece (which already exists in green), or a green version of the Hedwig eye piece, would have suited Sonic characters just fine.
That being said, if they put out a Blaze BrickHeadz, instant purchase even if she's got them creepy eyes.
Ngl, Brickheadz Sonic has the face of someone who "had a rough transition into 3D"
