Designer insight: Woon Tze Chee
Posted by Huwbot,
Many LEGO set designers use our BrickLists feature to maintain a list of the sets they've worked on and often provide interesting insights about their involvement.
Once a week we publish an entry from one of their lists on the home page to increase awareness of this information and to encourage more designers to create them.
Woon Tze Chee wrote this about their work on 76104 The Hulkbuster Smash-Up:
3rd March 2018 release.
It's a dream come true to work on the Hulkbuster as I am a fan and collect Iron-Man figures myself. There's easily more than 10 iterations done for this, each trying out different build techniques and functions. Very pleased with the final version.
I am also particularly happy with the boosters at the bottom of Falcon's wings as they help him to stay upright even with the weight of the wings. Thanks to so many colleagues for their constructive feedback and pointers throughout the design process. Adam Corbally did the amazing graphics.

Many well-done sets. Congrats.
LNY, HP, Batman, JP, Marvel, Ideas, Overwatch, and Avatar- a lot of favorites here. Solid designs. Lots of fun.
Hey, first Designer Insight on a set I own! Everybody talks about how often Lego goes to the Hulkbuster well, but there've been a fair few versions of the Falcon, as well. It occurs to me that a buildable action figure of him could be interesting, to see how they'd do the wings.
Who ya gonna call? Hulkbusters!
I have this and I agree with the Falcon boosters. Also, Hulkbuster's smashing arm function is nice.
A design so nice that they repeated it a year later with the War Machine Buster, just with some cosmetic differences and a silver colour scheme.
The A-Frame cabin is my favorite set from this designer.
I love the smash function on this version and the turret plays off of that

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Thanks to the designer. The minifig scale Tumbler, 76239, is another awesome one. There's a lovely designer diary for that set.

MORE Woon Tze bangers!
I wish I had this set. I saw it on shelves all the time but that was before I became a Marvel fan. (Ironically I became a fan right after this set retired)
I might pick up the new one though.
