This set launched on the day of my third anniversary working in LEGO Design. It is the sixth LEGO product for which I have had the pleasure of serving in the model design role. The LEGO Star Wars Battle of Felucia Separatist MTT™ was so much fun to design! My first exposure to the MTT was when I was almost 15 years old. It was opening day of Episode 1, it was the first Star Wars film released in my lifetime (I was born 9 months after ROTJ), and it was the brown Trade Federation version of the MTT. What stuck with me about this vehicle was the droid rack function, a multi-stage mechanism that releases the battle droids. It was amazing on the big screen. So, when I was given the chance to design the model for the blue and grey Separatist MTT from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, of course I wanted to push this function as far as possible. I worked very hard on refining the function, with much encouragement from my fellow Star Wars designers, and in the end, it turned out even better than I’d hoped! Niels Bundesen built a wonderful sketch model that served as a great start. If I could thank everyone who urged me to make this model awesome, I’d have to list literally everyone on the LEGO Star Wars Design team… and like every LEGO set, hundreds of people work all over the world to bring the product from idea to boxes on shelves, so thanks everybody!!

For Elsa's Ice Palace, I put a ton of work into making a big, playful dollhouse style castle, with a great building experience for kids as young as 6 years old. My favorite part of this model is a door opening mechanism I designed which I’m really excited about! Great care was taken to make this function fun and buildable for 6 year olds. This model is also assembled in several fun, bite-sized modules, making the building experience great for kids, as there are many moments of satisfaction when finishing a module and adding it to the whole.

Camilla Thorsted designed the beautiful stickers and graphics in this model. Alberto Facundo Galarce built a concept model which inspired the scale and direction of this build, including (in addition to the general shape and style of the building) the wonderful parts usage of the large propeller (sword blade) element, originally created for Ninjago, now used as the front doors of Elsa's Ice Palace and molded for the first time in transparent blue with opalescence. Alberto also designed snowy trees which heavily influenced the trees seen in this model.

Snow White’s Jewelry Box started out as a concept model I built very quickly for a presentation, then I got to carry it all the way through the model design process. I built a handful of different iterations of the box, but the features that carried through the design process were drawers which hide play scenes inside the box, a lid which can store a buildable bracelet (to keep the LEGO DOTS style alive) and a sword heart on the front of the box which tethers the lid closed with a chain.

My Mentor, Marcos Bessa, was instrumental in helping me finish this model during a time when my focus had shifted toward other future models. Camilla Thorsted designed the beautiful graphics and stickers in this set, my favorite of which is the Magic Mirror.

Bricklist notes
I had the great privilege to serve as model designer, along with my dear friend Ryan Van Woerkom on the VERY FIRST LEGO Disney Advent Calendar!

I didn’t grow up with the tradition of advent calendars, but my wife did, so when we started our family, it quickly became an important tradition as our daughters grew old enough to be aware of the fun activity of opening little daily surprises in December. For several years before starting my job in LEGO Design, we’ve incorporated LEGO advent calendar mini builds into our family tradition, including those from City, Friends and Harry Potter, so the chance to design the very first LEGO Disney Advent Calendar was such a treat.

Ryan and I built more mini prototypes than I can remember, getting input from our creative lead, as well as our fellow LEGO Disney model designers, and many other wonderful colleagues around innovation house, to finally narrow it down to these wonderful 24 Mini models and characters. And, we even incorporated a game which kids and families can play together after they’ve opened their daily surprises.

I’m pleased as festive punch to have been a part of bringing this idea into the world, and I hope you and the Disney holiday lovers in your life (big or small) have many magical moments when you start opening those little doors in just a few months!

Special thanks to Camilla Thorsted for the graphics on the microdolls in this set, to Sine Anderson for concept work on the game board, and to the countless other professionals across many departments in the LEGO group for helping bring this product to the shelves.

SPOILERS! My favorite part of this advent calendar is a four-module Disney Castle, which can be built across four consecutive days and assembled to create a mini castle build, larger than could be collected on any one advent calendar day. I think this adds a ton of play value to the set and can be a great centerpiece for displaying all the mini models and characters.

I’ve had the pleasure to work on: LEGO Family Travel Moments. This set, inspired by World Wonderliner, the winning creation of Robert & Christopher on Season 4 of LEGO Masters in the USA, was such an incredible product design experience. This set is the fourth set to be released for which I have served as model designer, and it launched on the day of my second anniversary as an employee in LEGO Design.

Sam Johnson was my creative lead on the project. Together, we set out to capture the celebration of travel and shared adventure that Robert and Christopher explored in their incredible build. We asked ourselves how we could turn that into an experience which would allow families, friends and individuals to celebrate their own special journeys or travel dreams in their own homes.

We included special printed tiles to represent home, past travels or dream destinations, which can be placed anywhere on the map, with graphics designed by Olivia Shegelman while Robert & Christopher’s World Wonderliner logo was interpreted by Nathan Davis and immortalized on printed bow bricks.

The photo holder elements at the back of the map provide places to post printed photos, ticket stubs, postcards, or any other paper travel mementos. Those who want to display the jet and map separately, will find special wall hanging elements on the back of the map and a stand dedicated to displaying the plane on its own. We also wanted families to have a great time building this set together, so the box contains five instruction manuals for family building, and is the very first set to include 5 brick separators!

Special thanks to Zio Chao and Rok Kobe for concept designs which influenced the map and plane seen in this set.

Of course every LEGO set has countless people that help take it from idea to shelf, and this one certainly took a village!

This was the very first set I worked on as a model designer. The graphics for minidolls & stickers were designed by Camilla Thorsted Cording. I'm so excited that we were able to create Mother Gothel for the very first time in a LEGO set. My favorite sticker is the sad puppy in the Snuggly Duckling, and I'm very pleased with how the Snuggly Duckling building turned out with a slide & zipline, as well as music roleplay and flexible/interchangeable modules that make the building a versatile playset. I also brought a familiar style of LEGO tile decorating to three customizable 'canvases' for kids to build and re-imagine Rapunzel's paintings. It's going to be the BEST DAY EVER!

I designed this Antique fire engine as part of the Bricklink AFOL Design Program. Designed 4 years before being hired by the LEGO Group as a Model Designer, this fire engine was, in many ways, my first foray in the world of professional model design with LEGO bricks!
