    I typically work in the role of the "Idea Guy." I bridge the gap between wild ideas and realistic execution. Most of the sets on the list were finalized by another model designer! I work on early versions then hand them to off to amazing designers like Justin R, Antica B, Wes T, the Pokémon Design Team, and many others. It's a great feeling to hand it over to colleagues knowing they'll make it even better.

    As part of the early design work for LEGO Pokémon, we started a big update to our Bow Elements- it was a huge collaboration. We deleted, modified, and added many new bows to improve the building system. The first of them launched with 75398 C-3PO, more than a year and a half before the LEGO Pokémon Smart Play sets launched.

Back in 2011, while working as a Master Model Builder for the LEGOLAND Parks, I pitched a LEGO Batman expansion area. It never worked out for a variety of licensing/timing/business reasons, but during my research, I rediscovered my love of Batman The Animated Series and the sprawling architecture of the neo futuristic 'Dark Deco' distopian city of Gotham. Inspiration lead me to build my own Gotham City at home, but progress paused when I moved to Denmark. The idea for Gotham as a set was in the back of my head for over a decade! My old Flickr page has an image of the Gotham City I was building at home, along with the caption "Gotham WIP. Coming soon." Admittedly, 12+ years stretches the definition of "soon" but we got there eventually.

-Besides Batman and Gray Ghost, there are 30 characters hidden throughout the set, 3 of which are represented using only bricks. Major kudos to anyone who can identify all 30!
-The instructions include an episode to pair with each of the 44 number bags. The episode names in the instructions correlate with the reference material for the part of the model built in that numbered bag- In other words, you can see what you're building on screen while you build it! So if you want to watch again (of course right?!) you can check out how close I kept the design to the source material.
-Despite the clouds all angling from top left to bottom right, the number of Left elements and Right elements are balanced evenly.

Graphics by the amazing Mark T, who had to work with a challenging new style, in a challenging amount of time. The lovely Minifigures by Daniel L. Shoutouts to my wonderful colleagues to took the time to discuss composition- Ant, Ian, Jason, Carl, Ashley, Wes, and Austin.

One of my favorite sets that I've had the opportunity to design. It had a very challenging deadline and ridiculous and fun concept to work from.
There is a ton of 353 Vibrant Coral packed into this set, nearly 37% of all Coral parts in LEGO sets at the time.
Originally it used part 6002 (the big clear one from Ship In A Bottle) but the artist in Holly Wood wasn't sure how I'd connected it, so they sent back an idea with the big Slave 1 canopy- and it worked much better!

I did the sketch model, Niek added small builds, Justin finished the design, and Crystal designed the graphics.
I pitched the idea for this in early 2016, and we hadn't yet decided that we were going to do the 2018 Harry Potter line yet, so my original sketch model still used Sand Green for the roofs. Painting the 32 little Trophy Figures was a challenge!
Justin Ramsden took the model from concept to final I love all of the detailed interior and references that he added.

Three new elements were designed with this set in mind: the 2x4x3 half cone, and the two 1x1 half arch elements. I first proposed the 2x4x3 half cone because I didn't like the way the towers looked in the previous Harry Potter lines, and it seemed like it had great potential outside of castles too.

Final design done by the clever architect turned designer Rok Kobe. I am very impressed with the way Rok was able to make it feasible as a set with minimal use of technic. I had doubts that it was even possible!
Nico Vas and I built the concept model in just one week! We had a few fun late nights, barely made our deadline, and if not for Alice Geiger jumping in to help out, we might not have finished on time.

We had to carefully carry the original sketch model a through hallways and stairwells to present it. In the middle of that precarious walk, we realized that we hadn't taken a single photo yet, and if anything went wrong, we would have to rebuild from memory. Thankfully it arrived safely and Rok took care of the rest.
