As a huge mech fans, I haven't done a proper mech for years, so I am very excited about this model and 80053(although I only made the concept model for that).

It is based on Super Deformed/ Chibi design style, and trying to do a reference to the first Monkie king mecha (80012). We aim to create a playful display, where you can play with the mech separately or display it with the cloud base.

My first model in Monkie Kid! Theo did an amazing concept model, and I felt in love with the concept right away.

Since Bionicle I've learn a lot on function design, and I try to put play feature wherever I can. for this model, the elephant trunk actually have a swinging function that is trigger by the technic beam behind the ears, and the whole head follow the two cannon aiming direction.

And there is a mini-elephant armor/powersuit hidden inside the elephant throne. It is meant to recreate a feeling of Big fig for the Yellow Tusk Elephant. when it is combine with the elephant, it is just a throne. but you can detach the throne and it can be transform into the power suit.

The prisoner cage is also based on what normally seen in old movies/tv show.

and for Mei's hoverboard... how can we not have a hoverboard in a time travel related season of Monkie Kid.....

The biggest set I've done so far, and it was launched around my 10th years anniversary at LEGO, this model will forever hold a special place in my heart.

It was a challenging development process, the original concept is quite different from this final form. The model is around a small part of journey to the west, as Monkey King visiting the palace wasn't a very long chapter in the book, we don't have much to relay on to reference.

The major different of this model with all the other Monkie Kids big model is, this is the first time we try to recreate Chinese interior style. I have a lot of fun creating different furniture, like the chair with dragon deco, as well as the iconic bed from ancient China.

The throne room is base on some Qin Dynasty reference we've found, and we try to recreate the traditional architecture style as much as we can.
