New minifigs now available in brand stores
Posted by Huw,A new set of seasonal minifigures is now available in brand stores, ready packed in blister packs or, perhaps, the new cardboard boxes.
The three figures are a pumpkin-headed Halloween figure, a tree-man and saxophonist with mouse ears.
The most interesting of the three is undoubtedly the Halloween figure who is attired in a new torso, printed to look like a green pumpkin front and back.
He's equipped with a lantern, albeit an empty one.
I'm not sure if the head is new, but it's certainly unusual!
Tree-man carries a watering can which is fairly ubiquitous, it seems, but this is the first time I've encountered it. It looks as if it'll take a bucket handle, although one is not supplied.
The head has a hearing aid print, which is a pleasant surprise, and his torso is printed to resemble bark on both sides.
Finally, the female saxophonist looks like she's just stepped out of the jazz club after a hard night's blowing, judging by the loose bow tie around her spotty shirt's collar.
She has a double-sided head and headgear with mouse ears which doesn't seem appropriate, but it's an interesting and unique piece. A yellow decorated version was used for colsh06 Cheetah.
What with the headgear and dual-moulded legs, it's a somewhat jumbled figure.
Overall though it's a nice set of figures and worth £5.99 of anyone's money. They can be found in UK brand stores now, and doubtless those in the USA and Europe too.

Recently I have found that my preferred official store has begun mixing all their minifigure parts in the Build A Minifigure station. It makes it frustrating and slow to search for a head or an accessory when they are mixed in with the torsos and legs. Sort your parts Columbus Ohio!

Columbus has always done this, plus every time I'm in the area, they never have the "new" or "seasonal" minifig parts.
So cool :D Are they going to be added to the database? :)

Reading your comment I was thinking my store was exactly the same. I’m in Columbus too haha! So many of the torsos have mismatched arms and quite a few heads have their prints smudged.
The Hallowone is nice. The tree is a bit old now, having been done in City, although the torso is neat. The saxophonist is weird. What is the link between the parts?
The mouse ears part is not new, it was used in the DC Cheetah CMF, although in a different colour and decorated.
My store had these premade. It seems like holiday specific ones get premade the rest get mixed in. It was a pain to the ninjago set. Personal preference would be to just do both for the first week or 2. That way those who just want the new parts can grab and go and the rest can build what they want.
I appreciate these items/sets being covered & reviewed however as someone who has no local brand store even remotely near me, it really makes me wish they were offered on their web-site as well : (
The watering can works fine with the "bucket handle"
Nice figs the green Halloween costume feels a bit weird.

Yes, if and when BrickLink catalogue them.
@ccc, thanks.

You can thank my daughter @Alice for that :)

It's a little bit funny ...
So are the build a minifigure station closed or they only have the parts for those three? Seems like a lack of choice

The Nashville store does that too, unfortunately. Took me forever to grab all of the female elves from Christmas last season

Unfortunately we are not able to add them to the BrickLink catalog at this time, as there does not seem to be any official reference or instructions that show how these minifigures are meant to be assembled. I have personally asked about this at my local store, but the only answer I got was that they build the figures in a way that makes sense to them, and for a number of reasons, we can't allow any minifigures in the BrickLink catalog that are just randomly assembled by store staff.
I know it's a shame, because these figures are certainly interesting for collectors as well as sellers on BrickLink.
So much about this from the BrickLink Catalog Admin Team - if anyone can share any official instructions or images for the BAM minifigures, please let us know. :-)

Argh, Columbus is the closest store for me as well, but we are never down there at the right time to find these seasonal pieces. DRAT! Somehow the comments section got filled with all 4 Ohio people on Brickset, lol.

I went to three stores fairly recently across the east coast, and they both had this issue.
At least unique parts from these stations are searchable on Bricklink by searching “BAM”. Thanks to whoever was responsible for that…!
interestingly the set that Jay's Brick Blog received had different heads on different minifigs, so not sure which is "correct" (not that it really matters).

Suspect that’s wrong. I always go by the the ‘official’ configurations ie. what my (usually) local Australian Certified Store has them online as: https://lego.bricksmegastore.com/collections/lego-build-a-minifigure-3-pack
these don’t scream “halloween” to me. the pumpkin torso looks like a watermelon

BricksFanz has official images of them: http://bricksfanz.com/halloween-2023-bam-characters-now-available/ . I've asked Adam where they came from.
Edit: looks like from the Aussie cert. store linked to above.
Yesterday In was in Prague store, they have all except the helloween guy pumpkin head piece... that was the one I wanted most.

I don't think my local store has ever organized them by part. If they did, it was mixed so long ago they never bothered to reorganize. That being said, because of the poor organization I have been able to get some highly desired parts(imo at least) such as Wyldstyle legs years after their BAM release.

Yep, I know that page, but those images are just their own photos which they use to sell the complete figures online. Official images would never show the skirt piece the wrong way around. :-)
So it's basically the same like with any other (regular) brand store that sells preassembled figures.
And yes, we already asked our higher-ups for information about the BAM figures, but...there were no results from that direction either.
From what I've seen about this release, the goatee guy head goes with the pumpkin head fig, the girl head goes with the tree costume, and the star glasses should go with the musician (which makes sense as that fig is already in a flashy outfit, also it's supposed to be a cat costume).

Generally, there’s some exclusive/seasonal elements mixed in with either generic elements
or stray CMF elements. You find some odd things in the build a minifigure station; I’ve come across Mysterio’s legs, the Snake torso from the Kwik e Mart and some legs from the Yellow Submarine set. The accessories are also pretty solid; I’ve been able to massively expand my Lego lute collection over the last few months.
Nice to get the hearing aid guy without having to buy the jazz club. But the calavera lady from last year was so much better than all of these
The pumpkin head was originally from Scooby Doo 75901, but according to Bricklink, it was in last year's Build a Minifigure assortment as well: hol303 Jack-'o-Lantern Scarecrow Suit Guy
Phrasing!!!

Ok. That's two people that mentioned the issue. I too haste found it to much of a headache to even touch the mess.

The effort involved in sorting BAM is insane, we used to do it at our store and let me tell you, it sucked
Picked these up on ebay, as it looks like they will be all we get this year from Lego for Halloween. Was hoping for a seasonal Halloween set like we have gotten for many years now, but doesn't look like we're getting one this year.

I'm suppose I'm lucky that Denver runs a pretty tight ship. Our bins never get to out of control even though there are sometimes hoards of kids having fun putting things together.
They also have other roped-off bins that are for the print a minifig station. Those are even better.
Yet, you never know when you might find old, nice parts. I continued to find the dark grey/black, dual-molded legs 6 months after they were released. That's why all my SW Imperial officers have boots.
Also, ask the store staff, they often have extras they can get you from the back room.

Ah OK. I've only been once to a store in Paris and they only had the parts from the seven minifigures jaybrick's blog had presented
Mouse ears? I think these are meant to be panther ears. A jazz panther.
Some of the tree-man’s parts were available loose in the BAM selection at the Westfield Bondi Junction store.

So LEGO never make mistakes in official images ...?
I think the way BL handles these is fine. The unique parts are all labelled as BAM, and the sets per year keeps the parts together by date. But there is no arguing that someone bought a figure with a different head in one store.

Hey, that’s my store too! Small world. I don’t like that either, btw.
In my experience most BAM towers I've seen have been a jumbled mess. The one exception is the Colorado Mills store. There is some mixing of parts there but for the most part they keep it mostly separated. What bugs me most is when I find the handless and armless Torsos in many BAM towers. I visited the new store in Utah a few weeks back and even their new style BAM table was a bit jumbled only a few days after opening.
The BAM at the Utrecht NL store has them available in a blisterpack. This BAM has a wonderful collection of newer and older items, if you dig deep enough some are going back to a year or so. This mix really suits most of the customers I think.
Upon paying for my selection the staffer asked if I was able to find everything, and I said I was only interested in the pumpkin figure's head and now had to wait for it to end up in the BAM in parts. He then went to the back and just gave it to me. He also told me they don't get instructions for the figures, just an image of the built figures from TLC. So @BrickLink, it doesn't get more official than that.

Are your heads arranged as mine are, or does the saxophonist have the spectacled head, as seems to be the case in some UK stores?

Like I said before, the goatee/hearing aid head is intended to go with the pumpkin figure, and the star glasses go with the cat musician. Is Brickset going to update this post with the correct heads?
In Barcelona Store, "Elton" is the saxofonist
You have to buy the blister premade
From time to time somebody opens a blister and some of the parts go to the parts baskets
There are 3 stores in Barcelona, one official and 2 franchises.
In the official one there are 3 round stands with baskets and the contents are almost sorted.
In the other 2, there are "the towers" and everything is a mess, you can find torsos, legs, hairs,... in every hole (you can also find minifigure parts in the play area, sometimes more interesting than the ones in the tower).
Last year I was in Columbus, OH and was able to get the Halloween figs, but had to piece them together from two locations. I prefer last year's, so I don't mind missing out on this years. Loved the Day of the Dead fig, she was great.

That's the problem, there isn't a 'correct'; each store makes them differently which is why they can't be added to BrickLink or our database.
I was at the LEGO Store at the Century City mall (near Beverly Hills, CA) today to use my AFOL Appreciation Day discount, and these minifigs were available in premade packs for $10 US.

"
Could we bundle and label them as a set, perhaps? This being the BAM2023-4 set, something to that extent?"
That would be neat. Also, the Elton John goggles with the musician would make more sense.
Such a wasted opportunity to not do David S Pumpkins.
