By in Netherlands,

Definitely gonna get that pirate GWP! Good excuse to quickly grab the bookstore modular :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd like to get the Steamboat Willie. I missed the first one, so now I hopefully can get the smaller one. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No overlap. Boo.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

>90€ the scary island and >130€ the steamboat, according to currency exchange.

Gravatar
By in Albania,

Pirate island could have overlapped with the pirate VIP pack. Would have been nice

Going to get it nevertheless, can’t wait for the Viking Village :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That pirate island looks fantastic! It could be time to give in and go for the Eldorado Fortress....

Gravatar
By in Poland,

So all the classic themes are now are just means to coax afols into spending money on something they wouldn't otherwise bother with?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Not sure what to make of the pirate flag... on the one hand I can see a skull with an eye patch... on the other hand, I see a micro sheep from Shaun The Sheep with its head at an angle.
But maybe that's just me.

Both of these promos seem cool.

By in United Kingdom,

It's nice to see ALL Disney properties counting towards the spend threshold. According to Google. 3500 THB is £66/$80 USD and 5000 THB is £111/$135 USD.

Possibly someone I've blocked already posted those conversion rates, but hey, I'll never know.

Unfortunately I've already done my spending sprees so I might just pick these ones up on eBay if I can.

According to one of the reputable YouTubers the Moving Truck GWP is coming back from the 27th to the 31st of this month and will be tied exclusively to Modular purchases if you want to hold out for that one instead?

By in United States,

Is the pirate minifigure unique or a repeated torso?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Still no word on if they're doing Double Points anytime soon? Back before the name rebrand, VIP always had some kind of Double Points period in October. That's going to determine when I buy.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I have no idea what THB is.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Scary Pirate Island is the only one of this month's plethora of GWPs that I thought looked a bit rubbish. Pretty much just a random pile of bricks... but maybe it looks better from other angles.

By in Italy,

@MCLegoboy ha detto:

An italian blogger said there will be a double points period from 10 to 15...

Looks like the same as 31109, the head looks new

By in United States,

This is an opportunity to space out my Advent Calendar purchases. Guess I can use this week to get Harry Potter for the Spooky VIP pack, and then double up Star Wars and Marvel to get Steamboat Willie at the end of the month.

Not really. Have you seen the retail sets based on Classic themes? 10320 10497 10305

Well the second word of the article mentions that these are from Thailand (TH) so have a guess which letter their currency starts with.

I mean, if they can’t wait and want everything when it’s released, they deserve it, if they have to buy “unnecessary” Lego.

Personally, I am still not sure. I would like to buy the lion castle but need a double vip point too. Otherwise it just not worth it. That pirate stuff not so special.

Double points was annunced from 10th to 15th... lets hope...

It's a shark mouth island. With treasure.

Checkout out a well know brick leaker he's suggesting that when the pirate GWP
is out it overlaps with another GWP from last year not mentioned here plus a few days of double something as well so that first promo mentioned here could be the best of the year...

Gravatar
By in United States,

An island shaped like a giant shark head? Yes, please!

Supposedly last year's Mystic Witch is back. (I just opened mine last week. It's a goofy set and I'm still not sure why it's not available in stores.)

What?! If you actually LOOK at it, you can see that the rocks are shaped like a giant breaching shark with its jaws agape and a treasure chest inside. Really pretty cool. Plus it has those attractive dark red brick-patterned parts. I'm tempted to splurge on $80 of Lego for this one.

Over yonder - that would be incorrect as W (for Wolfram) still signifies Tungsten on the periodic chart

@Ridgeheart said: "Tungsten, Hydrogen, Boron"

Wouldn't that be WHB - Wolfram, Hydrogen, Boron? THB appears to be Tritium, Hydrogen, Boron - presumably some new kind of fusion fuel. It probably needs pretty high temperature for break-even, but should in principle be aneutronic as it forms regular helium. I suspect this aneutronicness to not be 100% perfect, so they've added a bit of boron to catch any neutrons that gets away.

Chemistry aside, the Steamboat Willie set has a certain charm to it (and appears closer to the original Ideas submission than the 21317 one), curious if it's possible to add a better wheelhouse and the spinning wheels/pumping smokestack mechanism to this. Unfortunately I have no plans to buy anything from the qualifying themes.

The pirate one is a bit meh, unless the island actually looks better than in this picture. Could be a nice add-on to my 21335 Overpriced Lighthouse.

Different thresholds, amount of parts and value.
Are you an AFOL crying for the 2nd pirate set in a year.
Or are you a disney lover finding 20+ disney sets a year not enough;)

I refuse. "W" stands for "Doctor Wily", or possibly "Leaf Shield". I've made it this far by living my life according to the Mega Man 2 instruction-manual, I'm not about to change that now.

(Okay, yes - I was working from memory, I botched it)"

I thought this was right. I used the table in college and in the odd crosswords but when you don't use it everyday you tend to forget. Fortunately, Brickset is populated by people from all walks of life so now we know. Tungsten: W atomic number 74.

I was curious so I looked into it. There is no element represented by the symbol T. the closest one would be Tritium which is an isotope of Hydrogen and is apparently quite rare.

Symbols beginning with T are: Ta, Tc, Te, Ts, Tb, Tl, Th and Tm.

For completeness, the other elements which have a symbol not very intuitive:
Antimony(Sb from stibium),
Gold(Au from Latin aurum),
Iron(Fe from French fer),
Lead(Pb from French plomb),
Mercury(Hg from Greek hydragyrum water-silver),
Potassium(K from kalium),
Silver(Ag from French argent),
Sodium(Na from Latin natrium),
Tin(Sn from Latin stannum),
Tungsten(W from German Wolfram).

I believe 2X starts on 10/10.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

No overlap. How convenient.
Well, I'm skipping Steamboat Willie then. Already have the proper Ideas set, so I rather just get the Pirates GWP and NOT make two purchases from LEGO with their inflated prices.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Don't have "$150 on a set I don't desperately need" money right now, so here's hoping that Steamboat Willie won't have any rare parts so I can just piece it together on BrickLink.

Perhaps with a huge dose of imagination, and very limited expectation! May well get it by default as it seems likely to coincide with 2x Insider Points.

Um, it's pretty easy to see that's a shark as I described, without much imagination required. But it's obvious you somehow couldn't see it before you posted your initial comment. No point in being obtuse about it.
