Is this the GWP that'll accompany the Natural History Museum?

Posted by ,

Some of the more eagle-eyed LEGO blogs noticed a catering van in one of the 10326 Natural History Museum lifestyle images that were published yesterday. They've concluded that it could be a gift with purchase that'll be offered once the new modular building has been released.

I hope so: it looks like a great little model!

View a close-up and the original image after the break and let us know in the comments whether it'll encourage you to buy the building sooner rather than later.

By in United Kingdom,

I’d be very surprised if it isn’t, considering the size of it and the GWPs we’ve previously got.

Yes !
It's the 40681 Food truck

I was thinking Citroen but yes, it certainly has a French vibe!

Cute build, I would probably change the fast-food to tea/coffee with some bakery item.

Good use of that little food add-on pack from a year or two ago.

This is a fair point. However, the epicenter of museums in the US is along the National Mall in Washington D.C. And this area is busy with food trucks.

The actual museum building seems to be loosely based off of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. Based on that, this GWP makes perfect sense due to the fact there's always a lot of food trucks (particularly ones serving hot dogs) near that museum.

Strongly looks like a Renault Goélette to me.

I love the truck, but aren't enough of a modular fan to justify buying the museum :-(

Unfortunately, there is no way it will survive the competition against Mrs. Castillo. It's not just that Mrs. C has a larger truck, but she herself would fold this thing into a small cube with her BEEFY ARMS. Roogah."

Yeah, that woman wants to make sure she owns the only business like that. She tolerates the others because they have a market she doesn't cover.

Thanks for confirming the rumor that this will be the GWP.

Hopefully they don’t smell like the ones in NYC. I remember wondering if there was a fire fire, and suddenly realizing it came from the hot dog carts.

You don’t need to buy a modular to acquire it, necessarily; if memory serves you just need to spend over a certain threshold, although it’ll probably be a high threshold.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Hmm, I guess I'll put a half plate parking lot next to the museum with all the various food trucks I have (hot dog, pizza, ice cream, slushy).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I mush have it! As a few others mentioned, change the food. I’ll
Be making mine a French Cafe on wheels!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Usually GWP's like this come shortly after the release of a modular building, so one will probably have to wait and hope the museum is available at that moment. Or just wait a bit longer, since many other GWP's become available after some again.

Gravatar
By in United States,

if it's a good spend threshold, sure i'll get it. if it requires the Museum then alas no . . . hmm guess i better reverse-engineer (reverse-build?) one instead

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Looks great.
Where did the picture come from? I’m not seeing it at lego.com. Did they pull it?

It could be pretty much any neo-classical building anywhere. And most museums have food trucks nearby.

Yep! Was about to say that. I was there a few weeks ago, and there were trucks EVERYWHERE, got some food from one right before the natural history museum in fact! The lack of prices also helps for the realism, drawing in and overpricing unsuspecting tourists.

You can always buy this easily on ebay or bricklink for normal price, as with most gwps.

Pre-ordered the museum, GWP is a "Delivery truck" unloading a piano etc

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Nice but it's not like we have a lack of fast food trucks 60150 is retired but we still have 2 ice cream carts 60314 and 60253
Best Hot dog truck: 41129

@ICAbricks one of the boxes in the moving truck was stickered "to the jazz club"

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I quite like the 40586 Moving Truck which was a nice addition to the 10312 Jazz Club. Makes me wait to buy the 10326 Natural History museum until the food truck becomes available as GWP!

This season is full with so many GWPs! I have counter 5 already, and more are coming?

That was the promo from earlier this year, and repeated once already. Maybe they still have unshifted stock.

Looking forward to picking up this GWP early on. Looks like a great addition to the set, and the color is not one we receive to often

TLG has used this tactic for the last few years. Could it be that they are trying to get more people to hold-off on purchasing the modular on day one to cut down on the number of orders they need to fulfill?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I like this much better than the Modular itself.
Will probably just buy this on ebay or Bricklink.

Both those ice cream trucks + also 31131 : Downtown Noodle Shop (which has an ice cream tricycle) are retiring after 2023, so there's some oversaturating being removed there , at least as far as ice cream goes.

Ice cream lives on with 60363 : Ice-Cream Shop, or an alternate build from 31138 : Beach Camper Van.

60384: Penguin Slushy Van still serves cooled slushy drinks as well :)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@TeriXeri Thanks I forgot 60384 as food truck.
We'll see what they get u next year, the trucks are nice as 20-25 euro sets

I reckon they are counting on people buying the Modular when it’s released, and then when the relevant GWP is released down the track, having to fork out for another big set to get it.

People who buy things day one for full price and those who wait for deals or incentives are largely different demographics of buyers. GWPs are targeted toward the latter demographic. That's all that's really going on.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dinosaur Fossils: T.rex Skull (76964) would look great with this set- natural history museum

Gravatar
By in United States,

Always wait to buy the modular with the accompanying GWP, or any GWP, or double points. Those are all effectively discounts which are better than paying full price.

Gravatar
By in Ukraine,

I'm interested, how many awesome vintage cars would they make as GWPs? The 40532, 40586, 40448 are absolutely amazing, and i really want it, but in Ukraine there is no accses for GWPs and on other sites they are too expensive. If there would be a way.....

Gravatar
By in Australia,

If this is the case would it show up in your shopping cart when you preorder the natural history museum or at the time of shipping or you don't get it when preorder and you have to make an other purchase when the Gwp becomes available? From memory the delivery van was available after the release of the jazz club.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice. Looks like one of those classic food vans you find in London open-air cafés that are actually towed in on a trailer and sell ludicrously overpriced artisan bubble teas or something equally ridiculous.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think they will delay the GWP until (possibly) the new year; previously Modular GWP's were not available until the main set had been out for around a month - this is how I got the removal truck last year and missed out on the vintage taxi the year before...
