Ghostbusters Cuusoo set also revealed in NY

Posted by ,

From the Cuusoo blog:

Today we gave a first look at 21108 LEGO Ghostbusters to select collector and LEGO fan press at ToyFair New York, and here it is for you as well!

It’s not every year a pop culture classic like Ghostbusters has a big anniversary, so the team here at LEGO CUUSOO has been working overtime to make this set available as soon as possible. 21108 LEGO Ghostbusters will be available for purchase in June 2014 for USD $49.99 / CAD $59.99.

First, some details from the set’s description:

This fun and iconic vehicle from the blockbusting ‘80s movie is fully loaded with all the paranormal detection equipment needed to track down those ghastly ghosts. It also features cool Ghostbusters logo decoration, removable roof, tracking computer and seats for 3 minifigures.

There's more information on the Cuusoo blog.

This set is looking very promising. Ecto 1 looks excellent

Much, MUCH, better than the BTTF set, look at those wheels and all the other detail! Seems a bit pricy though. Also those minifigures are must have in my opinion, even if the hair isn't quite perfect to the movie. (Egon's hair looks perfect though.).

I can't wait to get my own bill Murray minifigure :)!

I have 1 question, shouldent we get the exo suit first, then the ghostbusters set?

By in Germany,

This looks so much better than the DeLorean. Congratulations to the Cuusoo team for getting this right.

It says on the Cuusoo blog that the exo suit is still in development.

There is not a thing wrong with this set that I can see. I eagerly await its release!

That looks like a truly fantastic set, certainly getting this.

By in Australia,

This looks fantastic, and it looks like they have put in a decent level of work to remain faithful to the original design. I'm sure Brent would have had a few nervous moments wondering how it would turn out!

This set is now a must have. It looks so much better than the BTTF one.

Looks great. If only they had included Slimer it would be perfect. It will look good pulling up outside my Haunted House.
Think they have moved it in front of the Exo suit, to get it out this year in time for the 30th anniversary.

Any idea of the UK price? I'm guessing around £40

I love it! well done Lego...

Slimer should have been included though.... (perhaps just tweak rota the hutt)

By in Sweden,

Love it! The only negative thing I can say is that I wish it'd included a ghost (preferably Slimer). I know the CUUSOO "motto" is that sets can't require new molds, but they could've made an exception here, or maybe included a brick-built ghost? It just seems weird to have a bunch of Ghostbusters without a ghost, especially when they have alternate "scared" faces.

Not a fan of Venkman's hair either, but that can easily be switched for another hairpiece.

They could have included a classic glow in the Dark Ghost for fun... But I love this set. I WILL get it. So, in terms of classic movie cars, we now have the BTTF Time Machine, the Ecto 1, the Batmobile and the Mach 5 (perhaps not classic movie, but close enough). Fans of 50's cars will love this set as well due to the parts list.

My best guess with the Exo-suit is that Pete's design broke so many official building method restrictions that it is giving the designers headaches as they attempt to do it justice. I think Pete's amazing application of illegal part use and SNOT techniques may have broken CUUSOO a bit...

After the mixed reception that the BttF set got, it's nice to see so many positive comments so far about this one. I fully agree that ECTO-1 looks great, as do the minifigures - a must-buy for me.

Just lovely I look forward to owning this.

There are aspects of each the original submission and the Lego redesign I like, definitely getting in my collection. I REALLY like that printed (at least it looks printed) "boat bumper" piece on the back of the proton packs. One thing that is killing me, though, is Venkman's hair. Dude's balding, not gelled up. I feel like they should use the hair on Winston for Venkman and give Winston the good old classic "hair".

Wow! This is great! So exciting!

Did anyone else want the building to be in the set? :(

This is amazing. Looks so much better than the BTTF set. I didn't think the set was going to be this fantastic. TLG proved me wrong!

Wow, that was quick. Guess they have to get this out in time for the movie's anniversary. How long till June?

By in United Kingdom,

No UK price and no Slimer? ECTO-1 needs to be awesome to make up for no Slimer.
