Insiders discounts now live but website broken
Posted by Huw,
LEGO Insiders can in theory avail themselves with healthy discounts on a number of exclusive items from today.
Discount codes for individual sets can be obtained from the Insiders rewards centre in exchange for 0 points.
Unfortunately, but perhaps predictably, the page is currently broken so it's not actually possible to do so. Perhaps you'll have better luck than me later on!
The following sets are available at reduced prices:
In the USA and Canada:
- 10255 Assembly Square, save $60
- 10265 Ford Mustang, save $35
- 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander, save $20
- 10307 Eiffel Tower, save $100
- 21325 Medieval Blacksmith, save $35

Was broken at 5:30 UTC this morning. You would have thought that the largest toy company in the world could get this right! Time to throw some of our, sorry, your cash at it Lego, perhaps?
This is always frustrating and disappointing. LEGO, the number 1 toy company in the world, with bottom of the barrel computer servers…
I managed to get in around 2 am CET, but already then there was a problem the redeem code i got for the Tranquil garden says Freight train, and the discount value it shows is also the value for the freight train discount, hoping that when i order the Tranquil garden it will still works and that its just the description that is wrong
Tried the code at midnight hoping to get a Christmas present and it didn't work. Still not working now and Lego customer services have no idea when the problem will be fixed... They did say sorry though.
Was working last night, now broken. Not looking good for tonight.
Anyway the discounts are interesting as they show what sets have sold slowly and the discounts provide the correct price adjustment to what RRP the sets should've had.
Couldn't imagine anything more Lego tbh.

At least a couple of these discounts are on are sets that had their prices raised last year. The discounts seem to be bringing them back down to around their original launch prices, which never should've been raised to begin with.
Can’t manage on the Belgian website. However I am quite pleased I got Rivendell for 408 euro from amazon.de.
Also broken here in Switzerland. This is so frustrating and an Embarassment for the Numer 1 Toy Company in the World. Any local Shop has a better IT. LEGO sort this out !!!
If these discounts require a code, does that mean you can't redeem VIP points for goodies with the same order? It's been a while since my last order, but I seem to remember you could only use one code per order.
lol!
Have Lego forgotten that it’s their products that are supposed to be breakable and put back togetherable………not the website

That should be the case yes as it's a code

Yes, it will. LEGO are sneaky like this. Only one promo code per order. You can use as many of the regular discount/money off vouchers as you like though.

Most if not all stores/websites have a one promo code per order which includes money off codes

the discount code is report to work like a code for a physical reward, so buy one discounted product per order and you cant at the same time redeem for instant a code for a print, cap, walk man set etc. but you can still redeem insides "giftcard" codes, the ones you get by redeem points normally and that you put in at the payment step when checking out and that you can use as many off as you want

Other stores just discount sets, not give you a discount code per set.
Shame... it's pretty much like that every time when there is a promotion or big launch. Lego seems never learn from that
Hilarious.

Agreed. So, predictable and typical. Ha, ha, ha, haaaaaaa, ha, ho, hee, hee, ha!
Just tried. Still broken.
What else is new?

Has anyone ever considered this is all planned? I mean...
Does it put us off trying to buy things on promotions days? No
Does it stop us from keep trying? No
Does it put us off ever buying from Lego? No
Does it mean Lego don't actually get to sell products at reduced price (thus keeping their profits)? YES

You mean the buyers never learn from that. It’s like: “ok Lego, what you are offering and the way you are offering are both garbage, but you won’t screw with me, I am going to give you my money anyway”.
My question would be, why lego should even care? Why they should put extra effort/money into this kind of situations?
Unnecessary complication with discounts.
I managed to get my two codes (PAC-Man and Luke’s Landspeeder) yesterday (17th in NZ), though when the email arrived there were no codes visible in it and I had to view the raw html and hunt for the code within that.
Fortunately I found them in there and was able to use them just after midnight this morning to order each of those sets separately along with a bit extra in each order to get two Winter Market Stalls and two Majisto’s.
Hopefully if others get the “no code” emails they can do the same thing and find the code in the raw html.

It wouldn’t surprise me that they do it this way deliberately so that if you want multiple sets with discounts you have to place multiple orders. That way you often buy more to get specific discounts or offers like free shipping or GWPs.
The clear downside of this is that there are then less GWPs to go around as more people are getting multiple ones, and I’m putting my hand up as being guilty of that this time as I had two sets I wanted the discounts on.
Still broke.
Stay woke.
Being Inside isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Glad to see it's not just a me-issue. Very strange that they can't get it fixed if it's been broken all day though, clearly the website is up so it can't possibly be because of visitor overload.
I keep seeing the UCS Republic Gunship listed as having a discount available (yes, I missed the big discount on this set last month), but when I checked Lego's website last night when the discount codes were available, the UCS Republic Gunship wasn't listed.
Yes, the set is sold out, but in the past Lego has held some stock back before big promotions like this. But I fear that in this case, the UCS Republic Gunship is really sold out and ended up retiring a little early.
Or I'll get lucky and it's just a glitch that'll be fixed when the website comes back online.
Is anyone surprised?
Anyone know if the discounts are online only (which I suspect they are given you need a code), or if they're available in store too? Might have to resort to a trip out tomorrow if the site is still playing up this badly!
The people who run the website need to be held accountable. This has been an ongoing problem for what seems like years now.

They just relaunched their rewards program, so that might have introduced new tech issues.
IMHO everyone should chill out. Tech issues pop up during high demand periods, I'm sure they have trouble tickets open, it's not going to hurt you if you have to wait a few hours.
I've just phoned customer service, told them the website was not working. Ordered the Medieval Blacksmiths and they knocked £35 off. No code needed.
On the Belgian website they have now removed all reference to today’s voucher promo from what I can see lol. I mean come on. What a farce.
Glad to see coupon code. That prevents the aftermarket sellers from buying whole bunch at discounted price. I can have more chance to buy discounted set before sold-out.
Was tempted with another Assembly Square or Ninjago until saw the math - “discount” is once again to a higher price than local retailer selling for. Guess that money will go there or or Sony sale instead. Shame.
As an Insider, I feel very left out
Lego's website has been unable to cope with demand for a number of years now. They post record profits but are unwilling to spend any on their IT infrastructure. It's a poor show and there can't be any excuses as you can guarantee problems now. Better IT will lead to better sales.
I know full well come 12:00am going on the website will lead to a queue as they can't cope with the demand for the third year running.

And you also missed out on all the offers that go live tomorrow.
That's a big disappointment... :/
They have removed all reference to any insider offers that you need to redeem a code to get from the webpage now, like the Walkman metal orb Christmas thing, the 1.000.000 insider points lottery etc.

You can’t even access the Insiders area now.
Put Tranquil Garden in my cart, but it shows I'll only earn 715 Insider points. It's supposed to be a 3x point set but that number seems too low. Set is $109.99, I'm not using any coupons.
Can they move their website to that Epic Games metaverse they invested a billion dollars in? Surely that's enough money to make a webstore that works?
It seems back up and running now. I've been refreshing all morning so I think it happened within the last 10-15 minutes. I just bought Assembly Square with the $60 discount.
I'm not sure if it is clever marketing or bad marketing. Say there will be discount codes so people plan their purchases. Then don't allow the codes to be accessed. Some people panic and pay full price before the other sets they wanted go out of stock. Others just say screw it and buy elsewhere or buy other Black Friday non-LEGO deals.
Insider section (including promo codes) is live again (EU). But this promo code system is ridicules. I’m super disappointed about this year’s VIP weekend.

Indeed. But LEGO hang on to the idea that you have to be a member of the Insiders club to get their discounts. And then outsource running Insiders to another company that cannot handle it and screw up every time there is an offer.
Well. The Insiders Website is still or again broken here in Switzerland and I can't access my Insiders Points or get any Coupons. That is a whole 12 Hours now. What a Joke. Thank you LEGO for an absolutely frustrating Day. I give up now. You do have the worst IT I ever saw.
Nope. Still down in Switzerland at 19:06. What a Joke
Still down in Canada.

That's for a very simple reason. The promotion starts tomorrow, the 18th.
Live but broken?

That's incorrect, that promotion is live now. I can only speak for my own experience, but when I bought the Pac-Man set earlier today, it showed the standard points value during checkout and the correct 3x value at completion.

The website says "Lego Insiders get 3X points on these sets 11/17 - 11/27".
Also still down in Denmark and also no mentioning of any of the insider offers where you need to get a code for on the Lego webpages
Haven't had problems with the LEGO website for quite some time. Hope they fix this really soon.
Last week it was BrickLink, now it's this.

Still not working at 1PM MST. Edit: the whole site isn't working.

Thank you for your answer
Worked for me. Thanks for the heads up!

Which one do you most like the look of? Go for that one.
They have now changed the message that pops up when trying to get into the insiders reward center, until it said they was making updates/maintenance. The message is now that they have technical problems with the insiders reward center

There's a very simple explanation, I forgot about that.
Seems to be working now in the UK.

I got an extra £3 discount and I forgot to mention, they also gave me 2,000 points for my inconvenience and I'll get 1,280 points when the set ships. So I didn't need to wait for 2x points tomorrow and I'm not interested in the GWPs.
I think I did OK.
Seems to be up now in the US. Two rewards redeemed with code emailed.
Does the 2x Insider points this weekend apply to pre-orders?
It is past midnight where I live, I put my order through with no issues. City Gardens with the discount plus the 3 gifts and double points. In the end it seems they have fixed most of the issues.
Double points do not show correctly when processing the order, but they are correctly given at the end.
Also placed my order, no issues
Insiders rewards center is down again, to many people want the postcards with 50% off^^
Welcome to LEGO Outsiders weekend!
Just tried to turn points into Euros and buy 71799 for less then 370 Euros and get double points and a GWP.
Big marketing campaign, even on all "LEGO fan. Media" sites, big failure when I try to through my money to Billund :-(
Still can't get the code to work in the UK. Lego Customer Services also said they were told to stop accepting orders directly where the code wasn't working, so I'm now a bit stuck...
I tried ordering the Batcave Shadow Box - it says as of 11/17 its 3x the points. but in the cart its only granting 2600, which is 6.5 points, the standard 1x multiplier, yes?
:( Doesn't work for me at all.
Just had a look and it was working... for about 10 seconds. Now I'm getting a maintenance page.
You can't even look at the website now. They have a waiting list to browse products. I may just give up.

The cart shows a message at the top of the page indicating that although the cart may incorrectly show the standard number of points, you will still receive the bonus Insider Weekend points.
Lego Insiders stays inside not letting anyone in usal lego IT useless
We have to understand, guys. LEGO is JUST a multi-billion euros company. They couldn't possibly afford to have a good website that works and doesn't break in obvious occasions when high traffic couldn't possibly be expected... /s
You guys never would have survived Hasbro Toy Shop.
So no chance to get the Walkman because the Insider page doesn't work?

They got Bricklink up and running in four days after an attack, something Sony can't claim when it's PS network got hacked. I don't quite call that "useless", in fact the IT folks should be commended. We will never know this as fact, but the IT people probably don't get a lot of budget from the high-ups, or maybe there are extenuating factors we don't know about. Who knows for sure what goes on at ANY multi-billion dollar company's IT department? Answer: Not us!

At least in my online store (europe), the cart only showed standard points (not x2 points). But there was a disclaimer message mentioning there may be errors with the points listed but that they would be granted. And at the end of the order it showed x2 correctly.
I ordered the Pac-Man set just after midnight using the code I claimed yesterday along with a £5 Insider code. The GWP dropped in without issue and on completion the 2X points awarded was correct. So a happy customer here.
I’ve claimed the codes yesterday but didn’t get any email regarding it, so was thinking to check th Insider area today. Hah, everything is broken and I can’t check my codes.
These weekends are the only time I’m relatively glad (Lego consumer wise that is) I’m in New Zealand as everything goes live for us before the rest of the world so we can get our orders done at midnight of go-live day and then sit back and watch the world burn…
The massive down side to this is that most sets are often already out of stock prior to go-live day and the GWPs get sold out stupidly quickly so it’s a definite catch-22 situation…
Looks like it's now fixed in UK - I was finally able to get, and use, the discount code for Ninjago City Gardens.
Yes. No discount codes that I wanted, but got in for the Bauble code I wanted to add to my order!

Why not wait a few hours to also get Majisto and the Winter Market Stall incuded with your order?
Was in queue for about a minute in the US then was able to order what I wanted.
That actually went way smoother than expected! 10 minutes of cue, but my order when through no problem!
Just ordered Eldorado Fortress 10320 and the LEGO House 21037. This qualified me for both Majisto's Workshop and the Winter Market Stall. Thank goodness that none of the discount vouchers lined up with my interests. That must have been a frustrating experience when I read all the comments here and on other websites.

finally worked for me Saturday morning in Germany.
Are the 3x point offers limited to the US? In the EU, the rewards center only talks about 2x points for everything, without a mention of triple points for anything. And when I put Tranquil Garden and/or the Shadow Box (the sets mentioned in comments here as getting triple points) in the cart, I get double points, not triple.
Any word on the Tape Player set? I don't recall seeing it mentioned anywhere, looks kinda cute though (2400 pts).
Still broken my end for the discount codes.

Sorry, but I work in IT, and if we were providing a website for Lego we would be in serious trouble and there would be talk about contract terminations if it performed as badly as the actual Lego website does.
Constant crashing and overloading on high-demand days would at the very least see talk about boosting infrastructure.
So from professional experience the IT folks at Lego should not be commended, and should be told to get their act together.

From *my* professional experience and thst of co-workers, working in an internal IT department (which is the scenario Murdoch is assuming) is a very different animal from how you describe your contracted services.
I tried to order the Lunar Lander, shows code redeemed, but no code or email can be found.
They lost that sale. (not that it matters to Lego, I still spent $350.
I'll maybe try again later as it's a gift.
Edit:
HA! Code arrived 20 minutes after checkout, nearly 40 minutes after I first clicked it.
Back to the shop.
Well played, Lego, well played...

True, contracted suppliers obviously get treated very differently to internal departments.
Speaking of "Technical Difficulties": Anyone else getting an error using the link to Lego off this site? I've tried right-clicks and lefts and gotten: "An error occurred while processing your request.
Reference 199.5d9a3b17.1700377184.9d54cea" messages. I mean, I can 'side step' and edit the 'web address' to my 'local' Lego site (Canada, natch); but wondering if anyone else is having the same problem...just me?
