Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 1
Posted by CapnRex101,
The previous two Marvel Advent Calendars have been a little underwhelming, in relation to other licensed calendars. Their minifigures are usually satisfying, but the models are quite inconsistent in quality.
Hopefully the third such Advent Calendar, 76267 Avengers Advent Calendar, will therefore be more enjoyable. Experience of the previous two has tempered my expectations, however, so I am curious to open door number one...
Given the recent release of 76269 Avengers Tower, it seems appropriate that a view from the tower is shown on the Advent Calendar packaging this year. I much prefer this design to those from 2021 and 2022, mainly because this is much more colourful, hence it should form a superb backdrop for the coming models and minifigures.
Similar to the original Avengers Advent Calendar, this set begins with Tony Stark, here wearing his full Iron Man MK85 armour. The same armour has appeared in multiple previous sets, but this version with the modern helmet is less common, only otherwise found in 76216 Iron Man Armoury. I am therefore happy to see it again, especially because this is a memorable armour design, featured in Avengers: Endgame.
Furthermore, the minifigure is exceptionally detailed, most notably with intricate metallic silver and metallic gold panels on the torso and legs. The use of red and dark red to create depth is effective too, while the golden arms ensure this Iron Man armour stands out in the crowd. Also, the faceplate decoration looks nice, although it is slightly askew on my minifigure.
The faceplate on the helmet opens, revealing Tony's standard double-sided head underneath. The blue-tinted HUD looks great, but I would like to see a new design at some point because this one has now appeared in almost thirty sets! Some trans-light blue repulsor elements are provided as well.
Overall - Although other Iron Man armours are less common and maybe more desirable, this is an excellent minifigure.

Well, starting with Iron Man is topical, given that it is themed on the MCU.
So looking at those stockings on the calendar's background, I'm guessing this Iron Man gets the middle one because its red. Which would suggest Hulk and Hawkeye get the left and right one respectively
So, apparently there's these things called comic books and recently they've even gotten lots of movies!
So I can now confidently say that this is a terrible Cyborg minifigure. The red is christmas-y I guess, but what's up with the gold? And I'm pretty sure Cyborg is not blue.
He is also in magazine gift.
They could have least given him a beard. Worst Santa figure ever.

"Honey, are you coming to bed"
"No, this is important... someone is wrong on the internet."
Starting off with a Minifigure on is always the best way to go as opposed to a mini build. It offers a good amount of playability and imagination from the get-go and keeps excitement going for the rest of the calendar.
The first door in the MARBLES Chrisbumps Number Box from LIMBO is MR. ROBOT! Mr. Robot is an Avocado with a heart of light bulb. We love you too on BLOCKSITE, Mr. Robot!
(Now I get to find out whether I'm the only Disnerland fan here...)

I googled it and I love it! If you were, you aren't anymore

I have no idea what you're referencing but my god it sounds like a Lepin box.

You are 100% correct. Gold is commonly associated with Christmas, and @Binnekamp was wrong to question its inclusion (even if it looks incredibly plain compared to the rest of the minifig). It could also be brass, which is a common decorative metal on Santa’s suit.
The rest is spot on, though.

You're not alone. You're never alone.
You're going to send this comments section like Man Mouse down the Cat Hole.
Day 1 of the LEGO Marvel KANGmas Calendar.
It seems we have Iron Kang, the most magnetic Kang of all. This Kang has a blue hologram face, thrusters, and blasters! Praise be unto Iron Kang!
I think I’ve said this in previous years but I’ll say it again now. Thanks for doing this.
This feature every December has always allowed me to enjoy the Advent Calendars without necessarily needing to own the calendars at full price. They’ve let me get ones I’ve wanted or in some cases minifigures I’ve wanted at discounts but still enjoy the spirit of the calendar. You do the reveal after the jump which is super cool.
This year it means so much more to me. Things in my life are such to where it’s getting to where it is very difficult to afford LEGO as a hobby. Finances have become pretty dire. I trimmed my Wanted list from the hundreds down to 36 and am starting to sell off my collection to pay bills. I didn’t expect another Dark Age this late in life but I may be headed there.
Anyway, just showing my gratitude…:) What you do is so deeply appreciated. Have a good one!
I noted the comment about the previous Marvel AC's being underwhelming. I still think the first one will be a tough act to follow. It had 7 minifigs and some really nice builds with fairly generous part usage. Last year had some nice minifigs in unique versions, but it will take a long time to forget four days of Rocket's junk and three days to build a ship which resembles something you would find in front of a grocery store where a kid puts a quarter in it and rides it for a couple of minutes. Although I will be forever appreciative of this very website which was on hand to explain what I was even looking at for several of the days.
For the Iron Man, I think the first Marvel AC with Tony Stark, ugly sweater AND Iron Man helmet wins out. This year might have been a bit better if they had included the hair so someone could swap out if they wanted to. I think Star Lord kicked it off last year, but unfortunately his helmet never made an appearance. Hopefully, they will also avoid the original Day 2 mistake of the "accessories" for Iron Man. Still a nice minifig to have, although those who already have one or more versions might not be as excited.
stevesheriw: I know what you meant, but did you have to phrase it "Rocket's junk?" That's an image I needed in my head.
Shame he's not Christmas-sy
