Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 5
Posted by CapnRex101,
Spider-Man has been the focus of the Avengers Advent Calendar for the last couple of days, so I am expecting another model relating to the web-slinger today.
Let's open the door and see...
Snowmen appear in nearly all LEGO Advent Calendars and those in the Marvel sets usually wear suitable accessories, like Thanos' armour or an Iron Man helmet. This design is simpler, although still features a trans-light blue arc reactor and unusually mechanical arms, represented by pistols. These look odd, but they are interesting and I like the general shape of this snowman.
Overall - While the Marvel theming could certainly be better, the proportions of this snowman are excellent.

Maybe next year we get an X-Men 97 calendar with an X-Men 1 1963 Bobby Drake snowman. Look it up!
... actually now that I think about it, an X-Men '97 calendar would be pretty sweet.

I would push small children out of the way for an Iceman minifig, I'm not even joking.
Oh no. Childs! Hurry and open your LIMBO MARBLES CHRISBUMPS NUMBER BOX today! Mr. Robot is a VERY COLD MAN! Give him the blanket. Please.

I'm game for an X-Men calendar, even if that means having four to six doors devoted to "Build-A-Pocalypse"."
That would be great!
It's a bit like a snow golem and a bit of gentleman.
One of Mr Freeze's and the Penguin's 'coolest' minions no doubt.
They should work together more often. Mind you, last time they managed to actually infiltrate the Batcave!

You get my vote for president of Lego. I'd buy that in an instant.
I'm trying to tick off what we could get in an X-Men calendar, keeping in mind the following rules:
- They tend to only have 6-7 minifigures at best.
- Recycling of common parts and figures is normal. Absent an exclusive Christmas print, it's rare that we get either exclusive or hard-to-find figures in an AC. (It's not impossible--Omega and Endor Leia are in this year's Star Wars, and we did get that Episode 2 Boba Fett way back in 2013.)
- Micro-builds tend to be the bulk of the set.
- A few need to be presents, a tree, etc.
Off the top of my head, and without knowing the full range of what's coming in the line, I'll pitch the following:
- Six figures: Wolverine, Rouge, Storm, Iceman (as a snowman), Beast, and Xavier. Beast could be a funny white snowman version or a Krampus. Xavier could get a brick-build hoverchair in festive colors. If we're going to stretch this to seven, maybe a Santa Deadpool.
- A villain would be good, although I'm reticent to put Magneto (Jewish) in an Advent calendar.
- Microbuilds of the X-Mansion and the Blackbird.
- 1 or 2 Mandatory present and tree packs. The presents would be in obvious X-colors, so a blue and yellow present for Wolverine, green and yellow for Rogue, something liike that. I'm musing what an X-tree would look like with a recognizable iconic item and not coming up with anything else yet.
- That still leaves 13-14 small builds. I'm straining to think of any other classic X-vehicles that would work for microbuilds. Maybe a small brick-built Sentinel. Maybe we could model this on the Iron Man "Hall of Armor" accessories in the 2021 Advent Calendar with a bunch of Danger Room traps on 4x4 plates that interlink with clip bricks. There could be a training dummy, some fire, grabby claws, etc. The Danger Room could be the overall theme of the calendar.
Sky's the limit. What else are we missing within standard Advent Calendar rules?
Wow. Someone ripped its hands off.
Between the gun arms and the bulbous body this is a strong contender for chunkiest snowman
Shame we could have got a couple of stud shooters for arms and a little barracade to make this into more of a play feature, but feels like they're really skimping on the themed calendars this year.
To carry on the above comments about an X-men calendar, I'd not complain if several doors were a 'build-a-fig' deal for something like a sentinel. Heck, it'd be extremely easy to make it with just christmas variants of minifigures alone, and I'm pretty sure it'd still sell if they jacked up the price to do that.
Probably a prototype Ice Legion android that fires snowballs for snowball fight training.
What a wonderful build - the perfect likeness of Snow Kang!
Snow Kang is a memorable comedic relief character from Avengers 92: Baby It's Kang Outside, in which Kang and Kang build a Snow Kang while discussing Kang's plan to backstab Kang and Kang for plotting against Kang. The laser gun pieces are a fun usage of parts and possibly evoke the means in which Kang finally defeats Kang? I especially love the reference to the fact that some universes in the multiverse have snow, and others have top hats. Truly brilliant representation of the sacred timeline and all of its yuletide branches.
Granted, it's not quite as fun as the Thanos snowman in previous calendars, but I really do appreciate this calendar's Kang-do attitude!

That would be AWESOME! If not, a bit more expensive than all the other calendars in regards to new prints and figures, but it would definitely be worth it!

Yes, please.
The last door for the X-Men calendar could reveal a naked, feral Weapon X!
