Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 6

Posted by ,

76267 Avengers Advent Calendar has offered a good selection of seasonal items thus far, which has not always been the case for earlier Marvel Advent Calendars.

I hope this continues on day six...

The seasonal theme does indeed continue today, with a lovely wrapping station. The model lacks any overt Avengers theming, but I am willing to excuse that thanks to its great level of detail and the wooden wrapping paper stand in particular. Strips of pearl gold and green paper, or perhaps ribbon, are also included and clips on either side promise similar models to come.

Overall - This wrapping paper station is excellent, although lacking in Marvel theming. Maybe the wooden parts were supplied by Groot!

So this is where Batman makes his Robin costumes! I always knew it would be in the Batcave, which is confirmed by those rocks. But it looks so... low tech. Maybe it's a hobby?

Imagine using yesterday's model to infiltrate the Batcave only to find... this.

Pretty much this exact model was included in the first Marvel calendar. Disappointing that they’re repeating so swiftly.

Is anyone else starting to think that gift wrapping stations have become, to the Avengers calendars, what weapons racks are to the Star Wars ones?

So glad I didn't buy this AC prior to Xmas. It will have to be under $15 (which it will) before I pick it up.

The green and gold made me think of Loki, but maybe that's a stretch.

The red and gold made me think of Iron Man. No Marvel theming indeed!

I think the clips are meant to connect the build to the Hall of Armour sets.

Very different design of the wrapping paper station. I actually prefer this version.

I would note that there's an obnoxious modification here. This station follows the design used in the 2021 calendar that was further modeled on the two Iron Man Hall of Armor sets: little vignettes on a 4x4 dark bley plate that connect with clips. Here's the problem:

On the design used in all Hall of Armor sets, the connector bricks are in the second row from the back. (The female 1x1 clip brick is also next to a 1x1 trans blue cylinder brick which probably represents a power supply.) In the 2023 calendar, the clip bricks are in the back row. You caaaaaaaaaaaaan modify this by just moving the clips up a row and putting the plain 1x1 light bley bricks in the back. (And also, you can use Day 1 Iron Man's boot exhaust as power supplies here.) This works fine and keeps it consistent with the 2021 calendar.

The only problem (spoiler!) is that there's an upcoming build where this modification doesn't quite work. You'll see when it happens.

The LIMBO MARBLES CHRISBUMPS NUMBER BOX for today is PRESENT CLOTHES! Don't let your presents get cold like Mr. Robot. Whether you give LIMBO or a THEODORE or a NEIL ARMSTRONG, make sure you give it DRESSED.

I can't speak for worldwide, but in the U.S., I found this year's Advent Calendars on serious steep discount in the fall. I got mine for $20 US (RRP $45) at a Walmart. A few retailers ran sales consistent with that price, though not quite as low. No idea what's going on there and I wonder if Lego will take a hint that these aren't as hot as they used to be.

Surprisingly low tech for something in Avengers Tower. I can only assume Thor brought it from Asgard

The only time that “under” is an acceptable way to hang a roll, since wrapping paper always has an inside and an outside.

So this is why the quinjet is red white and gold, it was Nick Fury's rc quinjet from two years ago rewrapped to be regifted two years later.

Also every gift thus far does have an appearance (or something very similar) in the first avengers advent :l

Red, gold and green? Welcome Dreddflipper to the Marvel universe!

Seems like a door is often present in new sets, as long as the set isn't a car.

Be not mistaken, friends, the true gift of today is the glorious presence of Kang. He may be absent from this set in body ... er ... minifigure, but he is very much ... present ... in spirit.

Remember these wise words from Avengers 104: Kang You Feel The Love Tonight, and may your Kangmas be right and festive.
