Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 1
Posted by CapnRex101,Christmas and wintry environments are featured across the Harry Potter series, which bodes well for the associated LEGO Advent Calendars. This edition focuses on Hogsmeade, so there should be ample material to draw upon.
On that basis, I expect 76418 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar will impress...
The packaging takes full advantage of the Hogsmeade setting and looks fantastic, capturing the cosy appearance of the village in the films. I like the festive details and the display mat cleverly combines indoor and outdoor settings, so it will be easy to display items as they emerge from the windows. Moreover, I expect the inclusion of the Three Broomsticks Inn, Zonko's Joke Shop, Honeydukes and the Hog's Head Inn hints towards the contents of this calendar.
Harry Potter himself seems a fitting start to the Harry Potter Advent Calendar! This minifigure is technically unique, although the torso was introduced in 76405 Hogwarts Express' - Collectors' Edition, without the gloves. However, that is its only appearance to date, so I am happy to see Harry's memorable dark blue jacket from The Prisoner of Azkaban again.
The medium legs are perfect for Harry's young teenage years and I like the dark red hood too, which has been worn by Miles Morales before. The double-sided head features Harry's iconic scar and his standard expressions, with a smile on one side and a determined face, ready for battle, on the other.
A wand is supplied too, but this minifigure lacks an alternative hair piece, which is unfortunate. Hopefully that will arrive later in the calendar, so Harry's hood can be removed if you wish.
Overall - A unique and accurate version of Harry on his first visit to Hogsmeade is a great start to this Advent Calendar.

The texture of that hairpiece could be better. And the color too

"I hope he finds me. 'Cause when he does, I'm gonna be ready. When he does, I'm gonna kill him!"
An actual extra hairpiece would have made this a perfect start. Still good, though, but I think today's SW-entry has the best value.

He looks more like he’s ready to mug Ron.

To be fair, who wouldn't like to do that occasionally?

Who the hell are you, Fred or George?
Meh, feels like they’re running out of Advent Calendar ideas for Harry Potter, too. Not this Minifigure specifically, though, but in general.
But, hey, I have a themed animation based around tomorrow’s coming… tomorrow!
Presumably the hood is meant to match the shirt. Is it the colour matching that bad in the actual figure or is it the lighting?

The colours match quite well in the actual figure. The hood is darker, less bright than on the pics.
I think LLoyd's hood with hair sticking out would have been better for this figure.
Hi guys, it's nice to see you back again this year :)

Hermione’s done it a few times, I’d wager.
Day One and I'm already behind. A unique minifigure is always welcomed and a welcomed return to a themed box. A such as I loved all the microscale builds last year and have incorporated many of them into my larger display, Christmas at Hogsmead is a welcomed return
