Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 6

Posted by ,

It has been difficult to follow any chronology in this year's LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, but most items have been appealing, from anywhere across the saga.

I look forward to another today...

While new minifigures are obviously the best in Advent Calendars, characters for army building are a good alternative and the 212th Attack Battalion Clone Trooper is a fantastic addition to this calendar. This minifigure has only appeared in 75337 AT-TE Walker and as a magazine gift before now and more Clone Troopers are always useful.

The shape of the orange triangle on the trooper's head remains imperfect, as it should come to a point above his visor, but the design is otherwise superb. The orange stripes on the torso and legs correspond with the onscreen Clone Troopers and the battle damage is also effective, even though I usually prefer Clone Trooper minifigures with clean armour.

A standard Clone Trooper head is found beneath the helmet and this minifigure carries a large rifle, tipped with a black candle and representing the DC-15A blaster rifle from the movies. The presence of accessories with the last couple of figures suggests there will be no weapons racks this year, which would be good!

Overall - Characters for army building are always welcome in Advent Calendars, especially if they originate in expensive sets, so this Clone Trooper is perfect.

If your Advent Calendar isn't doing army builders, you're doing it wrong.

I'm looking at you, Harry Potter. 24 days of owls next year.

By in Germany,

Yeah, that one was predictable

Day 6:

5 Marvel - just too close to 2021, not close to anything, well, Marvel
4 Friends - Marvel did it better yesterday
3 HP - grab one, quick!
2 SW - good Minifig, but not
1 City - just go to the comments

By in Netherlands,

It might not have a million more on the way, but it sure is nice to get another one.

Unless you buy a million calenders. You'll also get a million Omegas. In that case, good job destroying the aftermarket omegaconomy.

One really has to admire the design and artwork of this clone trooper.
Plus it's handy in eliminating "Separatist Scum"!

Yes the artwork is very admirable, except for the triangle on his helmet. And yes your right those "clankers" aren't gonna destroy themselves are they.

It’s especially fun working the hands around so you can put the gun in a two-handed pose, inside the bag, BECAUSE THE TRAYS ARE TERRIBLE!

didn't notice the "battle damage" until you pointed it out. then again, these eyes ain't what they used to be

It's a Hans Burkhard Schlömer calendar, of course there are no weapons racks!

Average LEGO Star Wars Fans: They messed up the printing on all my Clones even though I still know what they are!
Me, a LEGO Star Wars Enjoyer: Could we please have some more Mauldalorians so they have someone to fight?

But in actuality, yes, LEGO does keep finding ways to disappoint, however major or minor they may be; it's always the littlest things that cut the deepest because of how great everything else tends to be. I'm curious just how things like printing errors are so common, or if they are doing this just to mess with the diehard fans that won't leave them alone. Like, personally, I don't think that 501st set from 2020 is all that good. I've never been a fan of the huge BARC Speeder except for in the case of the one with the sidecar, it made sense, but I found the 2011 design from that Battle Pack and Battle of Geonosis in 2012 to be superior in every way. And then there's that AT-RT, once again oversized, and oddly proportioned in terms of where focus of detail was and how rushed it felt when you compare to other AT-RTs. Doesn't mean I still didn't buy 2 copies, but I disagreed with how that set came to be. Mandrproductions and his cronies spamming LEGO 24/7 is not how things should be made, and maybe it's just my own crackpot theory, but half the design work in that 501st set was done with less effort to spite everyone because they knew the figs were all anyone cared about anyway. Imagine if those were done wrong, too (and they were already partly controversial because of the white hips). Only the Best is Good Enough may be the motto, but maybe it can only be done so much when your fans are as crazy as ever. Take the design process back to the good old days of 1999-2009, at least in as far as minifigs are concerned. Folks, we have it great, but if everything had to be simplified back further to what it used to be, you'd be grateful figs can even look like this these days, and I love those oldschool figs.

By in Japan,

Daughter built this puppy yesterday and dad was the giddiest ever lol. She was happy it wasn't going to a rough build this time around. I really like this clone. I get the fuss over the holes and such but all in all it is a good time to be into clones. Come January we will be able to fill our vehicles with other clones and let the ones with the distinctive markings come out for a little fun. Plus with a ton of the accessories we have been getting recently, covering those holes is easy.

After Christmas I might give this guy's gun to Shadow.

No wonder he missed Obi-Wan. He can't figure out how to aim because his arrow point is missing.
