@Huw I’ve seen by Falcon Fan and Brick Clicker say it is supposed to be $80. It could be raised though, the X-Jet and Spider-Man car revealed today were rumored to be about $5 cheaper.

Very intriguing! Are the photos printed on some kind of plastic board? I’m impressed that the actual functionality of the camera can be approximated too, based on the box art.

I also find it funny we’re getting two brick built cameras this year. Something something two nickels, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, there was toilet Lego idea that made it 10,000 but wasn't produced, not to mention the rejected "Sewer heroes", which had a team fighting a fatberg. Also, the latest Ninjago modular has a working toilet.

So, basically, it's possible? Plus, kids love bathroom humor, and thus it sells sets. Port-o-potty's are all over CITY, and a few other themes have them too. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

For this amount of money, wouldn’t most of us prefer an actual working Polaroid camera instead of a brick built one?

Very happy for my friend Minibrick whose project this is. I think it turned out great, even if the price is rough. Day one for me

Hell no! Getting the camera is one thing. But unlike with digital cameras nowadays those pictures ain't free!

At some point I did get myself a film camera again, and while going back to old school photography sure has its charm, for most part it's just cumbersome and expensive.

I actually still have a Lego ideas book from the 70s with stuff like a typewriter or a telephone. Non-functional obviously. The only difference is Lego only sold you the idea, nowadays they sell you the set.

I think it’s a gorgeous model. Nice colors, nice shaping. Would be nice if they let you make designs yourself online (with custom lego versions of yourself) to print out.

Well, Lego is about building as well you know. Not only playing, besides you can play with it too! So not useless at all. Plus great looking as well!

Granted, it's not in Duchamp's legendary style. But, rumour has it that he borrowed that idea anyway. ×_×

This is an incredibly faithful rendition of the Polaroid One Step SX 70, and the designer deserves huge props for the result. And as great as it is, it holds little interest for me. My favorite was always the original SX-70, which was a folding SLR camera and, I believe, the first polaroid that did not require the peeling off of a cover sheet from the ejected film. It was less mod and provided far better image quality. (I am sure someone will correct me if I have misstated that.) For those who do not recall or never knew, Polaroid cameras, Land or otherwise, provided the (almost) instant gratification of digital in a film world, albeit at a substantial price premium. They were also valued for the privacy they afforded compared to film that needed to be developed by third parties.

Doesn’t really look all that substantial (or exciting). But I’m a sucker for the retro style sets so..

Absolutely love this and will be one of my 1st New Year purchases. Very pleased to see includes both names. '1000' plus the US 'One Step'.

No need for the real version as I still have the original one I bought for Christmas 1979. Great fun but SO expensive to run!

I'd really love it to include a sound brick to produce the iconic sound it made when each photo ejected but I guess that's a bit too ambitious!

The city names are printed actually. That's the reason it's still not been rectified by issuing new sticker.

The photo coming out off the camera (on the box), is a lego-fied portret of Edwin Land, the inventor of the Polaroid system.

LEGO is often about making models of the things we see around us. There’s no difference in choosing an old camera as the source material than an old train. And this is a lovely rendition of a Polaroid. It’s not quite my cup of tea, but the design and execution looks faithful and accurate at first glance. And for those fans of this genre it will surely sit well next to the Atari or the typewriter. It’s certainly no less functional than 76419, which is a lovely model of a building.

Obviously the same sort of niche item as the Atari, and predictably getting the same daft 'you can get a real one cheaper' responses. Yes, of course you can, but that wouldn't be Lego, so rather misses the whole point!

I suspect that a large proportion of those who get the Lego Polaroid already have (or had) the original, so getting another real one is of no relevance.

The Atari is owned by 3192 members, so is pretty successful for a niche item. I have a feeling this will be similarly successful, being a bit of nostalgia coming from the same era.

I personally love the fact that Lego make items that obviously won't necessarily be to everyone's taste, rather than just sticking to 'safe' items.
