Cute! Look forward to picking this up.

Is it just me or do the eyes kind of look like Super Mario 1-Up mushrooms?

Wonder if we'll be getting Lego-branded polyhedral dice?

Another day another FOMO :/

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Other than the eyes, this looks like it'll be pretty easy to build from existing parts... And I kinda like the idea of using mixel eyes on it!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

FYI, this comes in one of the generic yellow Lego boxes with picture insert.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

What is going on with these terrible stud.io-lookin renders lately?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Won't be buying that big set, but I do kinda want this.....

Nice! Anyone have any idea when the D&D book will be available on Insiders? The one that was supposed to cost 2700 points.

The adventure module based on the Lego D&D set will appear in the VIP/Insiders Reward Center on April 1st, same date as the Lego D&D set.

The adventure module will be available as a cheap digital download for 50 points (~39¢), and also as a printed paperback booklet (while supplies last) for 2,700 points (~$20.79).

I like this as a GWP - not too much trouble to source parts to make your own, but just a little exclusivity with the eye prints.

Brick Fanatics already has reviews of both the book and GWP.

Still kind of on the fence (the stiff dragon, purple roof, big price, and only 6 figs). But, this limited GWP is pushing me to buy.

Based on the render, those are stickers. So as @MisterBrickster said, just use Mixel eyes.

Or perhaps dice in the shape of, as Rimmer once said "a polydridocdecaehedron, a hexasexahedroadicon, a dibidolihedecadodron".

I mean, everything else is poppycock, isn't it? ;-)

8x4 studs of internal space 3 or 4 bricks high seems a bit small for comfortably storing a polyhedral dice set?

30628 was a proper GWP with a nice box and considerable size. This here is another one of those last minute cash grab items to try and give the day 1 buyers and resellers a justification to buy from LEGO directly at full price. I'll post the Studio file on Eurobricks and you can easily rebrick it instead.

Sorry to break it to you, but the D&D mimic has Harry Potter beat by at least a couple decades. Not to mention its influence on plenty of fantasy media (especially games) that followed. It's right up there with the Beholder and Owlbear in terms of iconic fantasy beasties created or popularized by D&D.

To paraphrase Henry Ford, you can have all the LEGO-branded polyhedral dice you want, as long as they’re D6’s.

@MisterBrickster:
Or you could use Dreamzzz eyezzz. They have a nifty yellow cat-eye design, which I’ve already used on one of my Beholders.

@AverageChimaEnjoyer:
Mimics came first, and tend to do more damage. I mean, eating careless thieves is basically how they get their sustenance. MBoM was basically just some wizard’s warped sense of humor.

It nice with all the LotR and DND references but in the end it's to bloody and has to much trauma instead of happy easygoing adventuring.

The little curved white lines on the bottom right of each tile makes it look like stickers, since that's usually how they render. Someone else posted a review that confirms they aren't stickers, but it's a very poor render from Lego if that's how it looks.

In the movie "The Color of Magic" the chest has legs. I just don't remember if the chest was actually dangerous.

The should revisit that story and redo it with proper special effects.

Apart from some appearances of Cow Girl and a few other moments, dare I say it's even quite low on fan service, especially by fantasy-anime standards? Or have I just seen too much really questionable stuff? ;-)

But I'd say the Goblin version of the birds-and-bees story is what would be more problematic. Not necessarily what was actually shown, but more so what was implied.

Yeah, much as I love Goblin Slayer, there's stuff in that series that I won't even name on this site. Another license that Lego wouldn't ever touch.

76023 has a solid red dot sticker on an LBG 1x1 round tile on the gear shift.

75968 has the house number on a black 1x1 round tile -- placed where a doorbell often appears.

42048 has a gas tank sticker on an orange 1x1 round tile.

I'm sure there are more but these are three I've encountered.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@dimc:
I believe the white line that made you think the eyes used stickers is actually the edge of the flat surface of the tile. There's a slight chamfer to the edge, and the edges of the chamfer are highly reflective. The render is actually better for including these, since the LDraw file for this part has an inaccurately crisp edge.

I stand corrected. 76188 was the first time I'd encountered a sticker on a 1x1 tile in years, so thought it was a one-off anomaly.

That may be it. However, considering how much it looks like stickers, it's a poor image to work from.
