May the fourth be with you, always
And with you.
Has it always been this way, or am I just getting old: does Star Wars Day seem more & more about buying stuff each year?
I know it's always been about selling toys, but it really feels like we're in The Search For More Money territory.
May the Fourth be with you all!
It was the dawn of May the 4th here in Hungary at local time 5:30 and on LEGO.com the Droid troop carrier GWP seemed to be sold out, 'cause adding the Ghost set to the shopping cart without the promo code the Troop transport has not been added, only the coin and the mini AAT.
Hooray... 2 more days then not a single Star Wars article for another whole year..... Well I can dream!

Yep - seems like there's a few countries where the troop carrier is now sold out. I feel for you.

Thanks man, but don't be. I had the chance to aquire the GWP earlier, but to be honest did not want to buy the discounted sets. Not interested in them. I have enough B1 droids afterall.
Happy May the 4th everyone.
All 3 GWPs still showing in UK for now
My order actually arrived yesterday, so I started the celebration a bit early. Don't underestimate the Fourth.

Welcome to the actual LEGO, where the core value is money (looks that they have been very influenced by their main investor, Disney)
May the fourth be with you all!
I can't wait till I get 75381 and 75378!

TBH, any business is predominantly about making money. It's their raison d'etre. However, IMHO, LEGO do offer a bit more to their loyal fanbase than many other niche luxury companies. I say that having recently returned to LEGO after almost half a century armed with many years experience of dealing with these other companies. TLG aren't perfect but, believe me, there are a lot worse out there.

Find a way to connect with someone you care about or a new group in order to share a moment to remember the passion and wonder of the gigantic new galaxy that you experienced as a kid.
It's not theirs. It was never even his. It's OURS! Since 1979. And, it always will be.

I placed 2 orders as soon as I was ‘allowed’ on the site on the 1st.
I got a msg like you last night saying 1 would arrive Tuesday. I’ve woken up this morning to another msg saying it would be delivered today. The 2nd order, which was placed first is still only just leaving the warehouse.
All items in stock so can’t explain.
I’ve probably just been lucky with this one

Must depend on the local driver. Whenever I have a delivery that arrives at the local depot on Friday it always initially says Monday delivery, but then updates to Saturday, presumably because 'Dave' works weekends. Thanks Dave!

The online shop of the company that runs the 3 official Lego stores in Budapest also gives away droid GWPs, and even the new TIE polybag. It's also tied to a 60000 HUF purchase, but no price discount. I don't know if it's allowed to link here, but it's easy to find them.
I see your Schwartz is as big as mine!
Happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth be with you!
And tomorrow, courtesy of The Mandalorian, would be "Fifth is the May."
Get it? This is the Way? Fifth is the May?
...Yeah, not my best idea.

I'm just glad that all the emails I've received from LEGO.com have confirmed, over and over, that I should be getting 40686 with it when it arrives! Which is good, because I certainly ain't paying the $40 aftermarket price for a set that LEGO themselves valued at $30.
Droid Control Ship:
*sobs silently*
I was tempted on pre-ordering 5008878, but when it doesn't appear to qualify towards any GWP's, even in added dollar amount, that made it easy to pass on. Has anyone ordered it, and did you get any GWP or did you order enough other sets to meet the needs of the GWP's? I don't recall seeing that happen on any pre-orders before. Not to mention a $150 non LEGO part/minifigure item.

@StyleCounselor - Who owned it between 1977 and 1979? Or are we celebrating Alien, The Black Hole, Mad Max, and Star Trek? I was also a big fan of Time After Time and can’t get enough of the John Barry score to Hanover Street.

Well, it's worth noting that if you start watching Ep1 today, and follow it with each movie spaced one week apart, you will watch the original Star Wars on True Star Wars Day, exactly the way it happened in 1977.
@StyleCounselor:
What, uh...what happened in 1979 again? Isn't that when they rolled out the Rocket Firing Boba Fett offer, and ultimately filled all claims with non-firing Boba Fetts, because some kid choked on a rocket fired by a Battlestar Galactica toy?

Uh, yeah, that's what I meant. ;)
Remember the new BSG toys with the pellets that wouldn't fire? We took them apart, filed down the plastic 'safety' bits, and the pellets were dangerous again.
@StyleCounselor:
I never had any BSG toys myself. A friend of my brother had at least one each of the die-cast Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider, one of which was certainly what the unfortunate kid was playing with, because those did have firing plastic missiles. And one of my next door neighbors had a set of original Jarts. This is why my generation doesn't tend to Chicken Little every time some new catastrophe hits. Our kids were trying to kill us, and we still survived. Well, most of us...

I tried to place an order on the first for the Ghost and E-Wing vs Shin Hati (and all three GWPs), but the discount code didn't reduce the price even though the website said it was accepted. Tried several times, then gave up and went to bed.
Got up on the second to try again, and the Battle Droid Transport and Ghost were both sold out. Customer Service gave me a $40 e-gift card for when the Ghost is back in stock, but didn't have any extra transports set aside for things like this. At least I got some extra points for my trouble.
It's still frustrating that this is the second year I've missed out on May 4th promos due to circumstances out of my control.

For future reference, go ahead and complete your order if the GWP show up as they are more important. LEGO Customer Service can help you get extra points later to make up for the discount issue. They can’t, unfortunately, conjure up more GWP.
@yellowcastle Yeah, in retrospect I wish that's what I did.
Pleased to say that my order did arrive late yesterday. Seems DPD decided to deliver it early. Glad I took the time to stay up on launch day and secure the GWPs as it seems the predictions of selling out were accurate. Just a shame about the issues with the website on the day and a shame that me being only one penny under the threshold for the troop carrier meant I had to add more to the cart. That penny under issue seems to be hit and miss with GWP thresholds.

Die-cast??!! That was definitely above my knowledge or pay scale.
The original plastic BSG toys were identical to Gen II. The only difference was the pellets pre-loaded in the spring shooters.
Gen I had awesome, aerodynamic red pellets that would shoot down your bronchial airway and stick there fast as flash. So great! Not the noggin'-piercing lead weight of lawn darts, or the spine-snappin' slickness of a Slip-n-Slide. But, still great.
Gen II had the same spring shooters and pellets except the pellets had two little protrusions that would only let it dislocate/fire about 1/8 in. It wouldn't even come out. Lame.
BTW, I did get a Boba with the fused missile. It took about 18 months- which is three lifetimes to an eight-year-old.
@StyleCounselor:
I remember them being die-cast, and comparable in size to Galoob’s Action Fleet toys. I only recall seeing them in person the one time, though, so I might be wrong.
