75394 Imperial Star Destroyer revealed!

Posted by ,

New sets continue to be revealed, as German retailer Lucky Bricks has published official images of another upcoming Star Wars set, 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer!

Unlike the Star Wars sets announced last week, this one will be released on August 1st. Seven minifigures are included and notable among them is the exclusive Cal Kestis, joining Fives, Darth Malak and Saw Gerrera as the fourth 25th anniversary minifigure. I am delighted to see Commander Praji too, bolstering the ranks of Imperial officers.

View more images and information below...

75394 Imperial Star Destroyer

  • 1555 pieces
  • £149.99, $159.99 €169.99
  • Darth Vader, Commander Praji, Imperial Crew Member, Imperial Gunner, Imperial Navy Trooper, Stormtrooper, Cal Kestis

What do you think of the Imperial Star Destroyer's latest design? Let us know in the comments.

WOW! That looks incredible. I didn't expect this to be revealed with all the June set pictures just dropping. I think i'll get it.

And a great minifigure selection too. Commander Praji and Cal Kestis are certainly the highlights.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks a wee touch small for 1500 pieces, maybe it's just the proportions.
BUT, I still think it looks nice to me! Can't to see how this looks next to my my Imperial Light Cruiser!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Set and minifigs look really good, of course it is overpriced but there is no surprise there. Will pick it up eventually. Thought based on the rumors that this was supposed to be Thrawns Star Destroyer?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The proportions are definitely off and it makes it feel a fair bit less imposing than it should. I'd be totally fine with the proportions if it were a hundred euros rather than €170. I expect a bit more accuracy at that price point. Besides the proportions though, I love it.

Gravatar

Easy pass. JFO was overrated and the rumored Death Star playset sounded way better and more original.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

So glad to get a Star Destroyer! And a Cal minifig too!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not getting it, I have all the Star Destroyers I could need, but at least the exclusive minifigure fits within the time period of the set. Is it really that hard to do for the others?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I would have liked a non-generic face for Commander Praji. But it works fine.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Why is everyone saying thats not a fair price? It has 6 minifigs and a bonus collectable one. so even though the peice count is a little low for the price the minifigures make up for it imo

Gravatar
By in United States,

I need to see a side-by-side with 75055 but at first glance this looks pretty good.

Will it come with the mini Emperor hologram though?

Gravatar
By in United States,

A star destroyer has been the biggest hole in my collection and I didn't want the First Order one. Glad this one is coming out, I'll definitely be getting it, but also definitely waiting for a sale.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Tell me I'm simpin' for Lego, but I really love the look of this model, even if it looks less imposing than prior models of the set. In previous models, the technique structure has bothered me, but not nearly as much in this model. I also love the amount of usable space they provide, although it does seem like this model is missing Vader's meditation chamber and a hologram for Emperor Palpatine, but at least in the latter case, that's a very easy thing to fix. Cal could have also come with a Bd-1 model, although again that's a very minor complaint, as he isn't the main focus of the set. Overall, a 9/10 model, and one that I would love to pick up if I could.

Cal without BD-1 makes this a pass for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Honestly pretty disappointed with this. Was hoping it'd be at least as good as the 2014 version, but it's just too small and oddly proportioned. Guess I still won't have a star destroyer in my collection.

Lol, I didn’t realize I already had BD-1. Still, I think they should have included him with Cal.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So excited! Haven't had an ISD yet, so can't wait to pick this up. Also love JFO and Survivor so excited to get Cal. Interior is great, far better than the sad 75315

Gravatar
By in United States,

Last version of this (i.e. playable ISD) was 75055 in 2014. I am surprised it has been that long! (though there have been other starships of similar scale, just not ISD)

I NEED THIS SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It’s been a while since we’ve had one of these. Might fit it in the budget somewhere.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So £170 would be $180 US? 6 figures+1, meh? Not even sure who the exclusive fig is. I’ll wait for the Amazon.com discount.

Still nice for those without an SD in their collection.

Gravatar

Now all I'm waiting for is for the pictures of the X-wing vs. tie fighter and battle on peridea sets to be revealed!

The Chimera would have been a nice model. But Lego doubtless prefers to go with a generic Star Destroyer rather than a specific one.

This set and Tales of the Empire really have me wishing we could get Second and Ninth Sister figs.

Yeah. My budgets pretty tight. I'm planning to get the Dune Ornithopter this year so this set i'll get next year.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

It's a 1500 pieces microfighter

It's rare

It's in microscale outside but minifig scale inside

I think it's better have something like the tantive: a little scale spaceship and a diorama set

Finally something acceptable for a change. Happy about Cal being included. Unfortunately Jedi Survivor is unplayable due to a massive memory leak that the developers still didn't fix.

I must have been very lucky, on pc I had two crashes at launch, but nothing after. I've enjoyed both games (the second more so because of fast travel - which makes it far more replayable than the first for me personally), and hoping the third remains just as good, now that Stig has left.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

That's not a 170€ set, that's more like a 100€ set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Thought there'd been a glitch and an old article had been reposted. Oh no... just standard Star Bores.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

They should've included BD-1. Especially because the set that included it 75335 is long retired. Thought I will still buy Cal Kestis in Bricklink.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not sure if already owning 6211 and 75055 makes me want this less, because that’s Star Destroyers aplenty already, or want it more because I want to put all three side by side and see how they compare…

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set is the smallest of them yet. What do we call this? Midi scale? Inter-midi scale? Chibi scale? Like @Brickalili , I'm so glad I have the older, bigger, better versions.

This scale does fit more with the space I have left, however. The shape of the model also looks good.

I'm happy for those who haven't had the opportunity to get an Imperial destroyer. Yet, I would have rather had a new Thrawn with his ship. Anything new would be great to celebrate the 25 year anniversary. But, all we're getting is remakes. @sjr60 is right.

The figs are suitable, but almost wholly unremarkable. At least there's a Cal.

The price is way too high for the size of this ship. But, it will be on sale, soon. At least it's not the unJustifier.

There's just not much here to get excited about, either way. Like @yellowcastle, I have too much to build piling up.

Buy 75325, and pretend. It's close enough. If the character and its red color meant that much to you, you'd already have him.

Less than 60 days is not "long retired." Not to mention, you can still buy the set on Bricklink for under RRP.

There's plenty to gripe about Lego SW without making stuff up.

Can't keep up anymore but doesn't it fit with the smaller X-wing from last year or whatever it was, they just shrunk the scale for the ships from now on.

Gravatar

That small image on the box back of Vader peeking around a console is cracking me up.

It's like something from Robot Chicken or Yoda Chronicles.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I've been waiting for a new Star Destroyer for years, and was really looking forward to a set with an equally impressive interior as the First Order Star Destroyer. This has space for a good looking interior, so it's a shame they haven't used it. Also, I can't help feeling disappointed at the minifig selection when the leaks said eleven figs, and we only get seven, one of which is a *Death Star* Gunner. Vader's lieutenant would have fit in well in the Tantive hallway set, but I really wanted a normal gray clad officer here.

Gravatar

Yawn

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ugh all Imperials and no bounty hunters. When they rumoured 11 figs in this set I thought we were going to get a few bounties. Nevertheless this looks awesome though.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

6211 was the first and still the best after almost 20 years.

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

It feels like at best a sidegrade to 75055 , if not an outright downgrade given price.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For crying out loud TLG, you got me excited with seeing Cal Kestis in that promo video that we were going to get a Stinger Mantis ship, and then you pull the "Exclusive Figure" schtick. I am disappointed.

Well, hopefully they'll be making an ISD in the midi-scale soon as I have no room for this let alone a UCS set.

EDIT - I'm not being totally down on the ship, it does look nice and clearly has people interested judging by the comments which is good, it just isn't for me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’m looking forward to a better look at the interior space - the First Order Star Destroyer had a splendid interior. This one doesn’t seem quite as striking, at least at first glance.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Leaks should never be taken for granted, even reliable sources can be wrong.

Cal looks good, but not too exciting minifigure line-up. The named officer should have been given a new face print to resemble the character.

Looking at inflation, I don't think the price/value ratio is worse than the older versions.

You see how all the 25th anni figures come with sticks and sabers? Actionfigures of Cal also always come with one of these droids as an accessory. The Lego droid is just one piece, it would have made sense. But I still see the major issue being that they didn't just include Cal in the BD Droid set.

Having the specific BD without Cal is meaningless, why would anyone want just the BD minifigure while thinking Cal would never be made? You are really reaching just to be able to claim that everybody but Lego makes correct decisions.

Spreading out key, related characters into multiple sets is what Lego does best. It's called 'making lots of money.'

I expect Lego to make money. I complain so that Lego will take MORE of my money by giving me cool new designs and characters.

If we're really going to seriously complain about this level of activity, we'll never stop complaining. I really want to stop complaining.

Expecting BD-1 to come in multiple sets is not realistic. We're lucky we got him once.

Go get him or his set on Bricklink before he turns into Darth Revan!

The long edge seems to be 6 studs shorter than the prior version. I was thinking it was going to have to be something really special to top the last one. I don't see that here though. I just hope they end up being close enough in size that they still look good together.

Seems to be they use alot more smaller parts, many of which end up as 'greebling' and other decoration to push up the parts counts these days.

I am delighted to find Cal in a set that I actually want to buy! I've been wanting a new Star Destroyer. Would have loved a Chimera same as everyone else but given the most distinctive feature of that ship is the underside I can't see it ever working that well in Lego, unfortunately.

As someone who used to own the 2014 version, the 2024 version has a higher level of detail inside and out. The decrease in length is surprising to me though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A new playscale Star Destroyer was definitely overdue, but I'll pass. The exclusive minifig is cool but the build and main minifigure selection seem unremarkable. I've never had one before so by that perspective this looks like it does the job well; I'd just rather spend my money on a couple of starfighters.

I do wonder if the initial rumor about it being a Death Star playset was just miscommunication in the breadcrumb trail or if at earlier design stages it *was* going to be one but they pivoted to doing an ISD since they realized there was a lingering gap in their evergreen Star Wars catalog.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally! After 10 years, we got a new play-scale Star Destroyer! All the rumors said this would be a Death Star, but I guess they were mistaken. Still, a definite buy for me! It'll make a fine addition to my Imperial army!

The price is a little steeper than I'd like, but not unexpected for a star cruiser set like this. And Cal Kestis is actually a relevant, Canon, generally well- known character!
(*Glaring at Darth Malak* it should've been Yaddle, not you)

I think they could've - and should've - gotten away with BD-1 as an accessory. Especially since the figure goes for FIFTEEN FLIPPIN' DOLLARS on the aftermarket

I for one am thrilled with this! Don't have an ISD in my meagre collection of ships, and it comes with Cal Kestis. I will hold onto the lot until the day after the set retires and sell every set without Cal Kestis for the full original retail price. I will then sell each eXcLuSiVe Cal Kestis for the price of the entire set all over again.

I will also make at least 10 videos about how the Cal minifig is completely worthless because it has no side foot printing, and how "scummy" and "greedy" it was for LEGO to not include his coveted pink poncho that you can unlock in-game.

You thought 2 holes in helmets were bad?

Well, every minifigure comes with 4 (!) holes in their LEGS!
Everyone knows minifigures are supposed to stand next to a UCS plaque, why would they need anti-studs on the back of their legs! Completely ruins the collectability for me. Guess I'll stick to just be an iNvEsTor from now on!

Thanks for pointing this out. The $70 Executor Super Star Destroyer is 54 studs long (43cm/17 inches.) It seems like this one is going to be very small in person.

Harry Potter sets 2/3 that price have twice as many figures. Even the Yavin Base! which wasn't a good set overall, at least had a lot of them. Why are everyone's standards for LSW so low?"

Okay but Disney charges more for the rights to star wars than wb does for Harry Potter, so Lego star wars sets won't have as much too them In order for it to be worth it for Lego.

Still wondering what to do with this slightly smaller ISD... Especially because I'm planning to get the new Milano for the same price.

Being the 25th anniversary, that better be the upbeat celebration version from the parade at the end of Ep1. Also, I regarding the syringe, I was thinking more the attrition rate resulting from making a single mistake in Darth Force Choke’s presence.

One thing that is fun about this set is that it will (roughly) scale with the UCS Star Destroyer 75252 as a Victory II Star Destroyer. So I will probably doing some modifications for that very purpose!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

One day there will be enough star Destroyers to form a very dodgy, mismatched pie-chart disc.

For massive models I like either modular builds for MF scale (or somewhat close) or just go for nanofigure scale (or somewhat close).

For reference, a size comparison to the set that is the most similar:

75394
Measures over 6 in. (16 cm) high, 18 in. (46 cm) long and 11 in. (29 cm) deep.

75055
Measures over 7” (19cm) high, 19” (50cm) long and 12” (33cm) wide.

Nah, I was thinking about the Imperial March Remix by the Force Orchestra. That song is a BANGER.

Yes. My Imperial fleet is growing bigger all the time. I have the tie bomber, defender and interceptor. I'll be getting the tie fighter coming this August. Then i'll get this set, and the rebellion will have no hope in defeating the galactic empire.

Also, nobody tell @HappyLEGOfan that minifigs have _six_ holes in their legs.

By in United Kingdom,

I was really looking forward to the Death Star set. Then the rumour changed to a Star Destroyer but with 10-12 minifigs, which I thought might be worthwhile. So the announcement of a small Star Destroyer with half the minifigs is a great disappointment, particularly at that price.

And as I'd never even heard of Cal Kestis until this year, purely due to the anniversary minifigs, that is also a disincentive to buy the set.

Because by far the majority of rumours from the likes of falconbricks and brick clicker turn out to be entirely correct.

Appox. Length, figs, pieces, price:
2006 71 studs, 9 minifigs, 1367, $100
2014 61 studs, 6 minifigs, 1359, $130
2024 55 studs, 7 minifigs, 1555, $170

Shrinkflation + inflation = deflation :("

Interesting. I wonder where those 200 extra pieces have come from given its smaller size and more spartan interior"

As someone who used to own the 2014 version, the 2024 version has a higher level of detail inside and out. The decrease in length is surprising to me though. "

The only one I have on display is the 2006 version. Anyone who sees it for the first time is instantly jealous. They say things like, "That's how big a Star Destroyer should be!"

The chibi-scale versions are difficult to get excited about playing with. Yet, they undoubtedly make sense for kids and budgets. They just don't have the necessary imposing size compared with the other Lego SW ships.

If the Millennium Falcon is larger than the star destroyer, it causes a disconnect that's hard for imagination to overcome.

That doesn't quite answer the question, tho. If you're listening along every now and then for fun, sure, that makes sense. But following rumors and then being upset when they aren't true, that does not make sense. It just creates disappointment which wouldn't have existed without the gossip. Either because the rumors are wrong, or people create false images in their head and then are let down by the reality. That's no fun

That's precisely why people follow leaks and rumors. LEGO is extremely expensive; people need time to plan their purchases and save up money. Also, something better/more desirable may come along later. Personally, my priorities are changing all the time because my budget is limited and they're releasing an absolutely insane, endless onslaught of pricy sets every year. Knowing what's coming is very useful for planning, in addition to being exciting. If TLG would reveal stuff further in advance, we wouldn't need leaks. There's been instances where majorly expensive sets are revealed just a few days before they release.

But that’s the thing, we KNOW that they’re always going to be releasing new sets. And we know that most of them will be around for two years. You know how much money you have for Lego, that number isn’t going to change very much. A month’s notice on new sets, that could be wrong, just doesn’t seem worth the consistent disappointment.

If TLG only released new sets twice a year and they went away super quick, yeah it’d make sense to follow the rumors. But we know that there will be releases every month, we know that the sets will be out for two years if not longer, and we know that almost all of them will hit 20% off on Amazon if you wait for a bit. It just doesn’t make sense to fight so hard to have the knowledge a month earlier
