I like the van and the truck more than anything else.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Are they no longer printing the claws of the dinos?

Gravatar
By in United States,

That teal Anky baby is an automatic buy for me! So cute and a fantastic price!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who are these minifigs supposed to be, just... randos?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The van looks perfect to put in a lego city!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Stegosaurus! Oh yes. Now I'd love a Parasaurolophus at some point. I really want more herbivores, especially ones they've not made before.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Stego doesn't look all that lego

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't understand why the Lego dinosaurs need to be so molded. Is there a rule that stops them from putting studs on the back of the stegosaurus so the spikes can be brick built? It would fell so much more Lego like, rather than having big plastic 5 piece dinosaur toys in a Lego building kit

Gravatar
By in United States,

The shape of the plates on the stegosaurus are different from what I was expecting. Guessing the design choice was based on something in the new show.

The main characters from the Netflix series Animated series Camp Cretaceous. It’s getting a sequel called Chaos Theory this year, which is what these sets are based on.

Give me the sets with Stego and Allo.

They're the same characters that were in Camp Cretaceous.

BRICK-BUILT DINOSAURS.

MORE PLEASE.

Gravatar
By in United States,

At this point, just call these the "Dino" theme.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Any brick-built dinosaur = good.
Any non brick-built dinosaur = Playmobil.

Buzz off Stegosaurus and Allosaurus... you're not a new toy every day!

New Dinosaurs!!!! :)

That was my thought too. If the Head, tail, and tail end were separate pieces, it would have been better for playability and feeling more lego.

This is exactly what always boggles my mind about LEGO dinosaurs (and other large animal moulds).

They're barely LEGO at this point, and add a ridiculous amount to the price of the set. They may as well be cheapo toyshop bargain bin dinos for the functionality they have.

For the cost, they should have sound modules as standard...

I don’t see how 13 Americana sounds would help these sets.

The cast of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, who're the same kids as in Camp Cretaceous but aged up by 6 or so years.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Not my theme but I like quite a few things in there:

1- the stegosaurus
2- sand green Technic parts
3- nice van and semi(lorry) but

- The semi (lorry) seems squished down. Just need to raise the cab by one plate and it should be fine.
- Not quite sure about the ankylosaurus brickheadz and bodyz but it has a tan and dark tan hinge.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look AMAZING!!!!!

76962 looks really cute! They even got Bumpy's asymmetrical horns right! Do still wish we could have an adult version of Bumpy, around the size of the Ankylosaurus in 75941.

76965 is pretty cool! I'm glad to finally be getting a modern Stegosaurus mold! And is that the same juvenile raptor from earlier this year? And $65 looks decent for everything included.

76966 is a huge highlight, because we finally have a LEGO Allosaurus! You can even see the white eye from the Chaos Theory trailers on his left side. Sadly though the price of $90 seems way too much for what you get. Not even the two side builds (in a Jurassic World set, which is a rare occurrence indeed) and the large Technic redeem that for me. Worth waiting for a discount though, because that Allosaurus is awesome!

I'm really glad that LEGO is doing tie-in sets for Chaos Theory! Something they sadly didn't do for Camp Cretaceous (still waiting for a Scorpios Rex). But... why are they releasing these in Europe before they release in North America? I've never heard of LEGO doing that before, and it just sucks crap. None of us yankees will be able to get them until August without paying exorbitant shipping fees on Bricklink.

As a Jurassic fan I'm taking that personally.
The Stegosaurus set comes with Ben Pincus and Sammy Gutierrez, and the Allosaurus set comes with Darius Bowman, Kenji Kon, Yasmina Fadoula, and... yeah, someone who admittedly appears to be a rando.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice 6w vehicles. They both seat two side-by-side and the semi truck has a sleeper bed in the back of the cab? Yes please! These are such great vehicles for City settings.

Also, the drone is by far the best brick-built drone yet. I'm glad they're using the CMF drone propellers here, even if they weren't able to bring over the CMF drone body.

The dinosaurs are ok, I guess, but they're not really my thing and the stegosaurus is even less compatible with other Lego parts than most Lego dinosaurs.

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Baby Bumpy is cute! I can totally see myself buying that on a whim.

No interest whatsoever in the other two. Seem like decent play sets, but those prices....

Gravatar

To me, the highlight of the truck set is that they finally managed to include two minifigs in the cabin, side-by-side. I might pick it up just for that.

Gravatar
By in United States,

New dinosaur species!!! I love that we're getting Allosaurus and Stegosaurus molds. That being said, it really feels like the dinosaur quality has taken a step down. No printing on the Stegosaurus legs, its head and tail can't move, and the Allosaurus doesn't have painted claws. That's disappointing but it's still cool to get new animals.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wonder if David Morgan-Mar will be buying 76966...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Kid number 2 in his dino prime:

YAY!!! AN ALLOSAURUS!!!

I guess we're getting that one...
(and the stegosaurus too)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh no, another LEGO set with 420 pieces! Now Jang has to consistently say "four-hundred and NINETEEN" pieces in his eventual review/preview videos.

Nice to see a LEGO Stegosaurus (finally!) and Allosaurus, though of course these prices are inflated as heck. The Jurassic World license is displaying a weird degree of longevity considering the movie series appears mostly dormant for now, and nobody really seems to have enjoyed the last one that much.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I haven't gotten any JP/JW sets, but these are tempting. Wouldn't mind having a Stegosaurus, and something about a dino cage on a truck just feels classic Lego dinosaur theme to me. Prices don't feel too bad either.
Also, I like that there's really nothing here that ties them to the JW franchise. Really just feels like a good, original Dino theme, and that's pretty cool.

While I can't disagree on the epicness, for Baby Bumpy I'd say Dinosaur Jr. would be more appropriate.

I know that the molds are the issue, like seriously I get it. But those prices are the reason I haven’t bought so many from this theme. They look great, but I just can’t justify the price mark up due to the molds a lot of the time

I'm hazarding a guess that most AFOLs aren't the target audience of a Netflix Jurassic Park cartoon show.

They usually try and get some studs/LEGO DNA up there but no space left for that in this case.

The spikes appear to use the softer more supple material they often use for such thin and long parts that stick out like that, and that's going to be a lot more stable, safe, and aesthetically pleasing/accurate than any brick built option at this scale. Just imagine a young kid, hand all over the spikes, stomping the dino around going RAWRRR.

I'm well aware of that. But looking them over, there's no JW branding/logos. Ergo: there's nothing tying them to the franchise. Aside, of course, their appearance in the tv series. Which I likely will never watch. So I can more easily treat these as original dino sets.
Sorry for seeming like a painful casual *eyeroll*

13 different fart sounds would probably be accurate on both counts.

By in Australia,

Finally, a Stegosaurus.

And an Allosaurus, which I feel like they've been teasing us with, even longer. Allosaurs have popped up in almost every single JW magazine comic that's been released, it was well overdue to actually have a physical toy version.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Stegosaurus is great (though I have yet to get the Brachiosaurus...) but I'mma need a T.rex comparison with that Allosaurus. Hopefully it's at a slightly smaller scale just like how the Giganatosaurus was at a slightly larger scale, but it looks like it's using the standard rex legs and the Indominus body, which should've been larger from the start but it's just T.rex sized with spikes.

It looks like it uses the Indominus body, arms and legs(Which are the same as T-rex), with only the head being new. So it is going to be pretty much the same size.

A Stegosaurus after what 20 years since they made one?

My hope is that this will translate into the Lost World themed sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The stegosaurus is big enough that it should definitely have studs on the top/back. Kids always want to have minifigs ride the big dinos around.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

That van can fit a driver and a passenger and is a 6 stud wide vehicle. That should be standard for every city set, instead of a centered driver and a lot of wasted space.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Got the full cast from Camp Cretaceous, may not do it again for Chaos Theory though, the designs don't pop as much.

Really disappointed Bumpy doesn't come with a Season 3 Ben figure, although I suppose it makes sense given the scale. Would've been nice to get him though.

Maybe someday with a recolor of the adult Ankylosaurus mold, like @AverageChimaEnjoyer said

Also proof that Speed Champions cars don't need to be eight wide! It's funny how lego used "oh we need to sit two minifigs side by side" as an excuse to make them 8 wide, and yet from memory no SC set to date has actually shown or included two minifigures sitting next to one another (racing car drivers usually race alone... not sure why Lego doesnt know that?)

But I also agree in City theyve been trying to force 6 wide where they basically take a 4 wide vehicle, make the sides a whole brick thick and say done! Which instead makes it look weird and as you say wastes space. Either give us a 6 wide vehicle (with roof for two minifigures) or a 4 wide with 1 driver alone and/or a passenger sitting behind them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

In the last minifig photo, we see the beginnings of the elusive Navy-Capped Security Guard's courting ritual. See how she hands the civilian woman a leg of roast poultry. Such a display of personal capability is interrupted by moments of what can only be described as friendly laughter and sheepish smiles. The two part ways, but not before the civilian marks the guard's hand with a sequence of numerals.

Just one of the endless marvels of Mother Nature.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Fun fact: by the time the triceratops and T-Rex showed up, the stegosaurus was long extinct.

The stegosaurus lived around 145 million years ago while the triceratops lived around 68 million years ago. Therefore there's around 77 million years difference between the late Jurassic and late Cretaceous periods, whereas there's a 66 million years difference between the late Cretaceous and today.

Fun fact, despite having allegedly roamed the earth for millions of years, no dinosaur bone was ever found, or kept, until the mid 19th century, right when a rather famous scientist invented a rather famous theory. That's why I'm skipping this whole line, I have better sci-fi options available :).

Personally, I find the eight-wides to have better proportions, and use the extra seat to store the hair (if the driver's wearing the helmet) or helmet (if the driver's wearing the hair) and the wrench.

As much as I dont like how this stego looks, the back makes sense. Its made of hard rubber, so no wonder there is no studs there.

I'm happy to see a Stegosaurus but wish it was based on JP2 movie instead. The set being only 6+ design is disappointing. The Ankylosaurus is also too basic.
The Allosaurus is made up of existing moulds from other dinosaurs except for the head but the design and colouring look good.

I want future sets to be based on the original trilogy with these ideas:

JP2:
Stegosaurus herd protecting baby
In-gen Dino hunt with Parasaurolophus and Pachycephalosaurus
In-gen camp dinosaur breakout
Compy attack
Trailer cliff scene with baby T-Rex
In-gen base Velociraptor attack
T-Rex in San Diego - maybe the petrol station

JP3:
Spinosaurus attack plane in tree or boat scene
Derelict In-gen compound Velociraptor
Pteranodon aviary

They were.
For most of recorded history it wouldn't have been known what they were.
Megalosaurus is believed to be the first dinosaur ever described scientifically. British fossil hunter William Buckland found some fossils in 1819, and he eventually described them and named them in 1824.
On the Origin of Species was published in 1859

Kind of glad they aren't just throwing in random Owen in every set that isn't based on one of the movies and what a treat to see the Stegosaurus finally show up.

Say, ah, LEGO... where's my Gallimimus re-release? I missed out on the last set with that particular dino and I'd love to get another chance at the mold. Plus I kind of want to see Anniversary sets for TLW... and would it kill you to produce another set for JPIII with the Spino?
