Calling all Autobots!

Posted by ,

LEGO has just posted on social media what is presumably a teaser for another Transformers set, which features the 2022 model of 10302 Optimus Prime.

There are no further details, but it's fair to assume that this precedes an announcement which will be made in the next few days.

View the teaser after the break and let us know what you're hoping for in the comments.

I am hoping for some new sets before the newly-announced double-points period ends - preferably not robots though....

MEGATRON!!

I would love to see a LEGO version of Gridlock.

Hmmmmmm.... wonder what it could be.... I doubt it could be a yellow autobot now could it? maybe one that we've already seen....

Worst kept secret ever.

I hope this is a teaser for a certain bright yellow Autobot eponymously named after a very specific insect. ;-)

Seriously though, have a feeling this is Bumblebee. Saw a genuine-looking leaked picture of this set a little while ago, so my hopes are up!

I know it's not, but Soundwave would be so cool. Megatron would be an obvious choice, too, but alas, we'll never get his '84 form. Still, I will happily grab a Bumblebee!

Gravatar

Shame it's not an actual bumblebee a la insect collection...

Bumblebee

By in Belgium,

If it has to be an Autobot, I'll put my money on Bumblebee.

By in United States,

I’ve known this was coming plus I’ve already seen the set and I’m kinda disappointed.

By in Netherlands,

So fast it was only leaked 2 days ago.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Doesn't matter to me which one. Any more Transformers in the size and style of Optimus Prime is awesome in my book.

I would much prefer Grimrock (3)

I know little to nothing about Transformers, but Bumblebee seems like a logical choice for a new set because of his popularity.

Reveal could be Thursday! Hasbro has a reveal planned then "from friends of the brand." Posted on Instagram from one of the TF designers.

I understand why Lego fan sites don't rock the boat with Lego leaks but all the Transformers ones have had it on their front pages for days now. The market that is most interested in this are not into cutesy teaser posts when Hasbro does it or when Lego does it.

I feel like Soundwave would have so many cool additions and little things you could do. I would very much enjoy that.

Lego didn’t know that the bumblebee set was leaked 2 days ago was pretty funny.

It would be the up-coming Bumblebee set, in which it's picture has already leaked.

Yes I wonder who it could Bumble-bee?

LEGO is proud to announce the UCS Unicron.

Gravatar

^ If they made it, it would absolutely sell.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Really surprised Lego are doing another set as Optimus Prime has always reduced.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The funniest thing is that some people actually believe that Lego leaks aren't carefully planned by Lego... All part of the marketing. The slightly illegal pretence just adds to the appeal!

Gravatar
By in Romania,

That Bumblebee is the goofiest thing i've seen this week.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lego and Hasbro have an opportunity to do something interesting with this in the future. The whole premise of Autobots is "robots in disguise"... imagine if they did *not* brand the set as a transformer, but rather put it in the same lineup as the 'vette, 'stang, 911 etc.? And then had it be transformable. Jazz, Starscream, any number of good options for this. Imagine day-1 buzz on that (if they manage no leaks, of course)

Gravatar
By in United States,

it's bumblebee

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not a fan of what we can see in the leak. I do think they could do a fantastic job with Soundwave though. Given the issues inherent in G1 Megatron and the problems making a transforming Starscrem using Lego would have, Soundwave would seem to be the logical Decepticon choice should they eventually make one.

It’s obviously Bumblebee.

My bet is a G.I Joe Galidor-style figure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was excited when I saw the article on the front page, and reading the comments (I don't pay attention to, nor seek out leaks) has me even more so, as Bumblebee is my all-time favorite Transformers character, and getting a Lego one to add to my collection would be a dream come true!

Soundwave, or we…um…mutter under our breath, because it’s not like we can force them to make him. He’ll happen sooner or later, if they keep this series going. And then we riot! With joy!

"Soundwave superior. Constructicons inferior."

Gravatar
By in United States,

My old guesses for a second Transformers set were either Megatron or Bumblebee. Given its an Autobot and all the leaks going around I'm putting my money on Bumblebee.

Didn't end up getting Optimus back when it came out, but a lot of places still sell him. I might finally bite the bullet now that he has a friend!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have already seen the new set. It's Bumblebee.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Bumblebee is cool and all... but Soundwave is superior for a reason.

Devastator is a must following the Voltron roadmap.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

In my view, 10302 is a fantastic set. But there seems something off about the Bumblebee set. I think I need to see the model in person or some reviews before I go with this.

Of course, if they made 10337 in yellow and gave it a transforming feature, I'd probably snap that up like a shot.

By in Netherlands,

Transformers in Lego is a must buy for me. I used to build Decepticon jets from lego as extra Transformers for my G1 Transfomers collection ( wich I don't own anymore) . There were bulky but still I am proud of the fact they could transform from Jet to robot and back without having to take them apart.
So I am hoping that one day they will release a Decepticon jet for the 10 year old me.

Transformers sites are also populated by deranged reveal-hounds who throw tantrums when Hasbro's announcements are the leaked news instead of some newer thing they manifested for the sole purpose of having something that's new to the leakers, so I don't know if that's a model worth following.

"Could be or could be not but leaks aren't really that dangerous for lego anyway they mostly just give people early glimpse at the product and they can start to get excited for it in advance."

That depends on the set, and how early the leak hits. There have been times in the past when clone brands were able to beat them to market with their own new set designs because the leaks happened so early. And there are times when their licensing partner sells exclusive access to some media outlet, and TLG is obligated to play along or risk whatever penalties the licensing partner has set forth.
