I can't wait to see the plethora of amazing functions which will differentiate this "super" car from all the other essentially identical cars!!
The stand-out feature will definitely be... it's a different colour!!!
Oh look, another car.
I got the first three, skipped the Ferrari because I didn't like the look. It's a shame this one will be Orange too, because the Porsche already is, but how could you make a McLaren in any other color?

I see a number of McLarens every month where I live in Sydney, Australia, and hardly any of them are orange!
Lots of black, white, shades of blue, purple, etc….
Too bad it’ll be another orange car after the Porsche. I know this is because Orange is the McLaren color but I would have liked a yellow car
I can't afford 500 euro sets
But the ultimate truly iconic orange car is the Bond Bug!
I'd like it to be the 1995 McLaren F1 in Dark green or Pearl Silver. It won't be.

Sorry it's not another Batman set?

This would be amazing! Such an iconic car

Or dark red - UK actor / comedian Rowan Atkinson famously had one from new in that colour - sold it to pay his divorce costs I believe, it was also previously involved in the largest ever car insurance pay out after he crashed it...
Orange P1. It's peaked in a few places already.

It's not another Batmobile that's for sure."
Definitely looking forward to that one!
Dark blue looks great for me.
Oh, don't give me hope... "build the legend" sounds like it won't be one of the newer cars but something from the past. Surely it can't be a big scale F1? If it is, I would get my first set from the 1:8 line.
I'm not sure about the color, people seem to suggest leaks have shown it to be orange. I havn't looked for them. But looking at the lineup of previous models in the LEGO range, yellow would fit perfectly in the collection. And looking at the teaser clip, the color of the text and the blurry thing that swooshes by in a couple of frames does look more yellow than orange. Could it even be the yellow-ish orange? Would be a lot of re-colored parts if it is...

I'm in the same boat. There were material improvements in the gear boxes, and the gear box visibility across the first 3, but I never bit on the ferarri because I don't think it had room for any more meaningful progress.
This is a good prompt to spend some time this summer tearing down the lambo to re-experience the build though. I did the Bugatti and the Landrover last summer, and both scratched that itch for extended technic and gearbox experiences at no further cost.
As far as possible new improvements: Lego could introduce wheel caster and camber (this means a lot of new parts) and also braking systems (maybe reintroducing a modernized version of the flex system - that would be great).
They also have to figure out a way to shrink those transmissions somehow. Have a look at the transmission for 8448. It's tiny, yet 5 speed and reverse.
I have only one of the series so far (Bugatti) and I am much more enthused with the upcoming release of 42182. (we never know, rare for Technic but sometimes Lego surprises us in good ways...)

Apology accepted.
I look forward to comparison videos of this with the CaDa AMG One...
I guess the gist will be "less everything - for twice the amount of money"
:-)
I hope it's McLaren F1. It's an oldie but a bestie...
Plot twist: it won't be a McLaren, but it's gonna be a MacLaren....

Surely you can't be serious.
Honestly we can not take more Technic cars. Please make some decent cranes.
Sigh! Make a separate theme for those (idk bring Racers back or sth) and make space for actual Technic sets!
Unpopular opinion but I'm rather excited for this new set, also if you pause it at 0:03, pretty sure its going to be yellow.

It's not just any car, it's an ULTIMATE car!

The Ferrari used almost a 1:1 copy the gearbox of the Bugatti. It was also admitted by the designer.

Well spotted.
If my little search is correct it’s a P1. Orange and black and looks very good.
Can’t wait :-)
Hopefully someone on Rebrickable can make a good Porsche 911 out of this.
Launch colour for the P1 was yellow, not orange. I'd be very surprised if it isn't yellow.

P1 would kinda surprise me. It's over 10 years old now, and dare I say kinda forgotten? I mean, I remember it from the Geneva motor show back then, where it was completely overshadowed by the F1 LM they put right next to it....

As soon as I saw Batman mentioned, I wondered if you'd chime in...

I will be Mclaren P1. Leak is everywhere online.

Dang it! When it said "Build the Legend" I thought... Aaah, too late now I guess...
If I were LEGO, I’d aim to be even more creative this time. For example, while initially releasing the new set as the classic P1, they could later in the year introduce a B model based on its successor, the P18, in collaboration with McLaren's global launch. This approach would capitalize on both the nostalgia of the legend and the excitement of the new hypercar.
Impress us more, LEGO!
Looking at it, I am pretty sure it is flame-yellowish orange, not plain orange. So I think we're fine. I do wonder if they included any details on the hybrid part or the trick no-rollbar suspension. O wait.. Technic cars have never had anti-rollbars. Nevermind then.
It's the P1. And it's yellow. Well, bright light orange, to be precise. Which is the colour closest to the launch colour of this iconic car.

I had not seen or heard of the Ferrari when it was released in Lego, bought it and then managed to spend a couple of weeks building it only to find the gearbox didnt work as I had one spare cog, from Bag 1 which i checked 3-4 times before continuing. So a very expensive non functioning Model. It started me thinking if they should sell a silhouette version (no running gear) for £100 cheaper for the younger, less technical audience. IT always seemed strange to have a gearbox with no motor to prove it was spinning the wheels faster or backwards.
r [slash] legoleak has the lowdown.
It's a P1 with a lift up rear wing.
And it's orange.

Yes, that's McLaren's general area of business.
For an upcoming orange Technic set I'll take the excellent Mercedes G 500 thank-you! Technic is so much better suited to rugged vehicles. I prefer System for posermobiles!
The problem I have with modern McLaren cars is that to me they all look alike. I couldn't name one if I saw one.
Some brands have more varied looks in their models, with McLaren they all look like some fish to me. Flat, rounded, aerodynamic sure, but not particularly striking or visually distinct.
Back in the Eighties a Ferrari F40 looked totally different than a Testarossa, which in turn looked totally different than a 288 GTO.
Just like a Lamborghini Countach looked totally different than a Diablo. These days the wind tunnel optimization makes most hyper cars look very much alike. Which makes it even more difficult to translate them into LEGO form, let alone Technic imho.
