LEGO has unveiled 75388 Jedi Bob's Starfighter at San Diego Comic-Con, based on Disney+'s upcoming LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy animated series launching in September.

The titular Jedi Bob returns from his famous appearance in 7163 Republic Gunship, this time with a starfighter of his very own! Also included is the droid Servo (SR-V0) and a mysterious Ackbar Trooper, who looks to be an adversary of Bob.

This set will be available on the 1st of August, alongside 75389 The Dark Falcon and 75393 TIE Fighter & X-wing Mash-up. It contains 305 pieces and will retail for $39.99.

Is this the first Star Wars minifig with the classic skin tone since the switch to realistic ones?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I like how it got leaked like, ages ago, but LEGO is now only just 'officially' revealing it.

Anyway, this set is so cool! I love how fast and sleek it looks. Definitely one of my favourite ships that Lego has ever made!

I would also like to start an Ackbarmy.

This looks like 20$ set. So it would make sense at 30$...

Very true. I had forgotten about those.

At this time of day I thought at first it was a 20 year old RSotD, but I suppose that applies to most Star Wars releases!

By in Brazil,

Yeah, "revealed". When everyone is already buying this set in NA and Europe.

Well, let's see if in one month or two this set appears in Brazil, though not guaranteed since the Rex Microfighter and a few other sets from earlier this year are still unavailable here. Despite the insane price it will have (R$399.99), the starfighter looks great and the Bob figure too (I need one for my 7163 by the way)

This is the childlike FUN side of LEGO that I like, one of the rare Star Wars sets to interest me.

20th minifigs were more for display than play. They had logos on their back, so they were somewhat equivalent to the gold minifigs in HP and Ninjago. Jedi Bob is, I believe, the first “in universe” minifig in the SW theme to depict yellow skin since the switch to flesh tones.

Definitely looks like something from 2002. Pass.

All the stores in my area get sets around 2 weeks late.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not interested in it. Part of the fun around Jedi Bob was that nobody knew who he was meant to be. Now he is a named (non-canon) character he is far less interesting. But I guess good for kids if they enjoy him in the upcoming cartoon. It's a bit like the silly versions of Batman in the LEGO Batman Movie, easy to pass on for a DC Collector.

WAIT WHAT

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I don't care for Jedi Bob too much, but this does look like a fun little ship and probably the only set I'll get from this wave. No rush, this one needs to be at least 25% off.

They added even more "Benny-type" wear to his torso xD

I love the fact that MandRProductions already reviewed this weeks before this reveal.

Looks like an awesome Starfighter though! $40 is admittedly a little steep, but Jedi Bob and the Ackbar Trooper are definitely worth it!

He was a random nameless Jedi figure that appeared in the first Republic Gunship 7163. The only random nameless Jedi in LEGO Star Wars history. Fans gave him a name and he became a bit of a meme, gaining quite a bit of value in the process. Now LEGO has officially acknowledged his existence and him and his starfighter are set to appear in the upcoming Rebuild The Galaxy LEGO/Disney collaboration.

I don't expect that much (if any) of a drop; there are still differences, although I don't think the original had any unique pieces.

Extremely disappointed that Jedi Bob is yellow and not flesh coloured.

Lego still have a problem with the skin tones and having a yellow figure with flesh figures makes no sense.

It is because he is an original character from 2002. As he isn't based on as real actor, it's technically allowed in the modern day. Also, making Bob flesh-toned is blasphemy.

The Rebel Troopers are technically original/generic characters too. He was just a generic Jedi in the original set. To keep Jedi Bob yellow is an appalling decision by Lego.

Was looking forward to a flesh coloured version, but now this set is a major avoid.

Just swap the figure for a Jedi of your choice, no need to avoid the rest of the set too.

By in United Kingdom,

For all those complaining about Jedi Bob being yellow, the printing on the fig has ‘playwear’ like Emmet and Benny had in the Lego Movie. The character will have been at the bottom of a toy box or something in the animated show that is coming soon. A flesh coloured Bob would look crappy. I’m more bother about the lack of Astromech droid - really not a fan of GNK droids built like this and who’s gonna do the calculations for lightspeed? A walking battery pack?!

He can't do lightspeed anyway - there's no hyperdrive booster ring! So it's a moot point.

I'm glad somebody else said it. I'm fine with gonks, but I really wish it didn't take the third figure slot since this gonk is made out of all standard pieces.

I would recommend trying to Bricklink the torso from the set (and the hood and cape if you don't already have them), then try to find a suitable flesh colored head that somewhat matches the style of the original. You could also use the newer hood piece if you'd prefer that. There are also custom updated Jedi Bob tutorials on Youtube, at least I think so

I doubt it will affect the price of the original figure much. It might even increase as people become aware of him and 'need' the original and the cheaper end of those for sale disappear.

The new one will presumably get a new catalogue entry. People wanting a (relatively) cheap Jedi Bob will be able to buy the new one but that doesn't mean the price for the original one will change although the sales volume of the original might drop as there is now a cheaper version. It is a bit like the goat. The price for the original has not really dropped even though cheaper versions now exist. Anyone wanting a cheap goat can buy one, but anyone wanting the original still needs to pay up to get one. It has also happened with the LOTR Fellowship, sales prices for the original figures were not really affected by new versions of them in the Rivendell set.

Get any robed torso, put any flesh head on in, put any brown or reasonably light colour hood and cape on it and you have Jedi Joe or Jedi Jane. Your own made up fleshie SW Jedi.

I genuinely don’t understand the negativity in these comments about this set. It looks like a pretty fun set even on its own, and Jedi Bob has been mentioned in several Lego Star Wars reference books to date. If anything, it should be appreciated that Lego bothered to acknowledge this aspect of the LSW community.
