The L3-GO droid doesn't look too bad as a random droid although maybe a blue dome would be a bit more traditional primary LEGO colours. And White Vader is nice. But I won't be buying the sets.

I assume the current colour scheme is a reference to the colours in the LEGO logo.

Shooters of Tie Fighter look terrible. The proportions of the ship are better than last time, but the feature from the tv show destroys it.

I get where your idea comes from but I think its color scheme comes from the LEGO Logo, which does not contain any blue.

The dark facon is definitely a day one buy

Gravatar

Darth Jar Jar is canon isn't it

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I hope the White Vader turns up as a key fob figure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait to get the Dark Falcon and discover all the secrets and easter eggs it's hiding!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Beach Luke? No, I know The Dude when I see him!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’m guessing Darth Dev is an original character like Yesi and Sib?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Funny that L3-GO does not follow the model or type of the previous L3 droid we've seen in the films, which was not an astromech...and her name was a joke too! I also like the other in-jokes. Yesi SCALA? Sib GREEBLING?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The concept of White Vader seems to have been taken from the Infinities retelling of Return of the Jedi.

Gravatar
By in Croatia,

So, how does tie-wing fly without engines?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The nose on that X-wing looks good. Only took them 20 years to go back to a hexagonal build.

Also this the first Original Trilogy (T-65) X-wing that's explicitly not Luke's Red 5.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That Black Falcon looks great!
Plus some of those figs are sweet, particularly the white Vader and beach Luke!
Will pick this up at some stage

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like the interior of the Dark Falcon. The holo-table seems to have been replaced by a video game system!

Also love the sith throne for Darth Jar -Jar.

Gravatar

love the Kitbash set, will buy it once it drops below 70€

No, the Lego animated shows are not considered canon. And the one that Darth Jar Jar is taken from is like a SW version of "What If?" so it's definitely not canon.

The trailer captions actually confirms that his name is SIG Greebling, not Sib. But I'm still pretty sure that Sig is a reference to Sig-Figs, i.e. minifigures that LEGO fans use to represent themselves

Gravatar

Interesting about Yesi Scala, I wonder if they'll do a Nada Belville?

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I like that there's a Tie Fighter and an X-Wing in the same set. That's great value right there. I wish it was a more standard colored droid though, but you can't win them all!

Gonna stand by my comments in the reveal thread. The builds are kinda meh, but the sets are gonna get scalped to heck just because of the figures.

Gravatar

The shaping of the nose of the x-wing is pretty nice. It looks a bit wide at the top in some images, but generally I think that's the best nose design they've done

In the Legends canon these were called “Uglies”

Gravatar

Okay, I really want that Beach Luke torso and legs. They look like they might be generic enough for wider usage. While less likely because Star Wars, I hope I can pick them up individually on Bricklink down the road. Shame these are such pricey sets.

Very badly. In the Legends (original pre-Disney) canon, the X-Tie-Fighter was a legit thing scrapped together from parts, but they flew really poorly and were considered “barely spaceworthy”. They were primarily used by the Corellian Defense Force after the initial fall of the empire, cobbled together in their shipyards (along with other variants), but they didn’t last long in combat since the only weapons they’d have would be replacing the X-Wing’s body-mounted photon torpedo launchers with laser cannons.

Even worse arguably was the TYE-Wing fighters, which had the ball cockpit of the Tie Fighter (and thus no shield generator) and the slow-as-molasses engines of a Y-Wing. Those were so bad that Rogue Squadron canonically referred to them as “die-wings”.

I'm on the fence for this two-pack, but if they also did a TIE Interceptor / Y-wing two-pack, then I'd need all of them.

They will be cool for kids, and the minifigures are fun. Honestly my biggest complaint is that the Millennium Falcon is just a black version of the one from Rise of Skywalker. At least the X-Wing and Tie Fighter are original designs.

L3 was originally an astromech droid who customized herself until she became what we see in the movie. So Lego was accidentally right giving this droid the L3 name.

LEGO has been doing periodic specials for over a decade. This was the first, from 2013: https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Star-Wars/subtheme-The-Yoda-Chronicles

this was the second from 2016 - 2017: https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Star-Wars/subtheme-The-Freemaker-Adventures

...and it goes on from there. Also It's all connected together in one timeline.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

What a revolutionary function to detach the wings and swap them between TIE and X-wing lol.
And they didn't even bother to make any kind of alternate build for the MF.
These sets are only cash grabs due to the minifigs, which nobody asked for in the first place.

Gravatar

Is this upcoming show expected to be a big hit compared to the other Star Wars shows that have not received sets?

Lol, it was gentle ribbing with a classic and beloved movie quote. Let's simmer down.

Please also note that I never identified which word was in question. I could very well have been addressing your use of "kinda meh" as being "kinda meh."

But no, I was indeed addressing your scalping concern.

These 2 sets will be WIDELY available to anyone and everyone, likely for at least a year if not longer.

The idea that resellers will immediately buy up the millions of available units for resell at significant markup is literally inconceivable. :o)

There are numerous reasons, but the main ones are that box images do not always show the whole contents of the set and product images against the white background are available for all modern sets, whereas flat box images are only available sometimes.

Box images and more are always added to the database though.

Now, now. Let's not argue about who killed who.

It's supposed to be a happy occasion!!

Finally, SW Lego isn't giving us the same ol' crap. Well, they kinda are, but it's better than nothing, and we apparently have to applaud their lil' baby steps toward a wee bit o' effort to greedily scoop up our hard-earned ducats. ;)

By in United States,

Geez, I just really like the shaping on the X-Wing's fuselage. I think this is the first time we've seen such a successful attempt to capture the hexagonal shaping at minifigure-scale. Bravo to the designer.

Gravatar
By in Japan,

They both look great. Sadly I dont really need the dark falcom so not sure I'll get it. But it would be a cool display piece. The interchanging Tie and X-Wing also look fun. But cant justify getting either. I rather prefer my 2017 Tie and the latest budget Red-5 we got a couple years back over these. But if these were handed to me as a kid as my first Star Wars I think I would've been addicted even more. I am sure these will bring plenty of smiles to young fans of Star Wars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Beach Luke looks like every mugshot I've ever seen in true crime stories about "area Florida man arrested for...."

Dark Falcon is definitely intriguing even without the mix of included minifigures. Without going back to scrutinize it, this version reminds me a lot of 75257 with the way the fuselage panels open. The white knight Vader makes it **chef's kiss**.

I need to double check but I think Sig Greebling might be the name of my accountant. He looks like he would drive a pimped out version of something like a TIE-Wing.

Jedi Bob has been matched to the look of an actual Jedi character seen (extremely briefly) during the arena assault in Ep2, so fully canon by any measure.

Not sure about the 'real' Star Wars character, but L3-GO was also the name of one of the robot models from the 1999 Star Wars Droid Developer Kit from Mindstorms.

I also think I've seen those X-Wing/TIE mash-up things in legends a long time ago, just can't remember the name (I think it was something funny though...)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Atuin:
I don’t know if they showed up in any comics, video games, or other form of visual media, but in the novels they were called Uglies. Funny thing is, I only remember them referencing two specific combos, so the “die-wing” referenced earlier had a TIE bubble with Y-Wing nacelles, but there was no corresponding Y-Wing with TIE panels that I recall. And there was an X-Wing with TIE panels, but no TIE bubble with X-Wing wings. TIE Fighters were the only spacecraft that could be rebuilt from this mix by reclaiming components from canon Uglies, after which I guess you could mount the Y-Wing nacelles on the X-Wing body.

Matched to the look of an onscreen character, maybe, but that doesn't mean he was intended to represent that character, as every other Jedi minifig ever released was explicitly identified as being that character somewhere; it wasn't just left to the fans to figure out who they were.
