These are beautiful and perfect for the Christmas season!

By in United Kingdom,

Love Poinsettia. Defo a must have for our Christmas lego displays

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Wow the Wreath is a surprise. The most expensive botanical set yet! It looks fantastic and these two will make great additions to peoples holiday collections.

I wonder if the poinsettia can fit inside the wreath.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yay!
tho... *another* wreath?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hooooly cow that wreath is amazing

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh, that wreath is gorgeous! A lot more elaborate than the previous one, with some great details.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Is it just me or does that poinsettia look very angular? Not just the flowers but the thing as a whole.

As for that wreath, not a set I'd buy but I bet this is gonna sell very well....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally a poinsettia that won't kill my cats!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The wreath immediately caught my eye! I love the recolored palm leaves and printed orange slices! (although I don't think putting orange slices on wreaths is really a thing in America...)
Not sure if I'll pick either of these up, but they do look pretty neat.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

They both look really good, but I love getting a real poinsettia for Christmas, so I won't be buying it. In fact, the one I got last Christmas is actually still alive and thriving! A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This wreath looks substantially larger than 40426. Although it is difficult to accurately assess the scale of sets from photos (at least for me).

I was gonna say I'd definitely get the wreath but then I saw the piece count and the price. How the heck is that 1200 pieces?! I thought it looked like a $50 set at first glance.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Man, what beauties.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

To me, that wreath looks like it would taste lovely. Orange slices, chocolate mint sticks and plain chocolate buttons.

Only just noticed the prices. Oh flip!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’d never thought I’d say this sentence:

That LEGO wreath looks INCREDIBLE!!!

The back of the wreath box says it’s almost 15” wide! :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Both brilliant. Will certainly get the wreath as soon as it's released (or pre-order when there's a good GWP)
Last wreath sold out almost immediately at Lego.com in Oct 2000, then didn't return until near the end of Jan 2021!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nifty that they provide 3 different colors of berries for that wreath (aka leaves battle pack!) or the odd orange slice decorations. Plus, it can be laid out as a centerpiece as well and not just kept in a circular arrangement. Very nice and versatile.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That wreath looks a substantial improvement from the last one, I'm glad I didn't end up buying the last model.

And I love the poinsettia. We usually kill the real ones, so this good thing to have instead.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As well as looking good, the wreath looks like an excellent pirates parts pack too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Those are really well done! My only issue with the past Christmas wreath is that it's incredibly boring to assemble. This one looks like it'd suffer from the same issue.

Gravatar
By in United States,

10340 is definitely an improvement over 40426, but 40426 can be put pack in its box fully assembled.

But will your cats kill it?

Those aren't chocolate mint sticks, they're cinnamon sticks.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

At last, a leaf battlepack!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

All I see are multiple business expenses! 100% gonna order a bunch of these for "work purposes"!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'd have thought these would have been under Seasonal rather then Botanical, but hey, any botanical additions are welcome.

That said though, not sure about the Poinsettia, it looks a little too angular and the textured rather then smooth parts reinforce that its a 'fake flower' rather then lego representation in my mind. Nice NPU with the shuriken, though again the pattern on it takes me out of the model.

Wreath looks much better, though that price tag hurts looking at what you get for the money. It doesn't feel like a £90 set. The orange slices and blueberries though make me think this has been more designed for the American Thanksgiving market over then the Christmas crowd.

I think those are cinnamon rolls.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The wreath is stunning, but those berries in particular are magnificent! The use of one reddish orange (I think?) berry in with the red ones makes it look so much more real

Gravatar

a poinsettia won't die quick

Gravatar

Much as I hate Christmas, even I have to admit I'm tempted by that superb-looking wreath

By in Poland,

Once again solid partpack, especialy the wrath~!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Botanical Theme I feel is one that has been accidentally successful to Lego, it's non-licenced, highly creative, small internal budget and didn't go through excessive design groups (like Hidden Side, Dreamzzz, Vidiyo) and has brought in a lot of non-Lego fans.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The wreath has some amazing recolors, especially the dark green stems -- they will make building certain types of conifers with realistic brick built lighting much better!

In the US the Bird of Paradise 10289 retailed at the same price, $99.99. There’s only a 21 piece difference between them, a nice consistency in pricing over three years!
I wonder how two of the wreath sets combined would look, sort of like 10314? Or increasing the width of the greenery? V cool for Botanicals fans!!

Gravatar

Do I see pinecones in that wreath??!

Both of these sets are amazing just not sure on the prices...

Seriously?
EVERY Christmas wreath I have ever seen my entire life had orange slices and cinnamon sticks in it. That's two of the basic ingredients a proper wreath has to have over here.

But while I love the look of the wreath I can't see the 100 Euro worth of value.

The piece count of the Birds of Paradise set was boosted by the studs used for soil.

If you know the size of the leaves and the orange pieces, you can see where the scale comes from. It definitely doesn't look like a $50 set unless you haven't built before

Interesting. Every year we get lots of Christmas cards from friends in the UK, and most of them either feature at least one Robin or a rural village with lots of snow, or a wreath that looks almost exactly like that LEGO one.

I don't think it is accidental at all. LEGO knew going in that it would have all of the benefits you mentioned, plus they had years of market research. This line was a slam dunk from inception.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think both of these are amazing! Yes the poinsettia is a bit angular but the real plant is a bit pointy. Loving all the options for the wreath. While I personally have never had one adorned with orange slices & cinnamon sticks it was a thing back in colonial days in the US. Goggle Colonial Williamsburg to see such things. Has no one ever seen an orange decorated with cloves for the holidays? Hmmm may need to figure out how to replicate that out of LEGO. My wish is for LEGO to come up with a version of a magnolia wreath next.

Very common across Europe - you should try it, it's a very nice fragrance for the holidays. Quite often have ones made of oranges and spices for fragrance

Do you know what else has orange slices and cinnamon sticks and is also very Christmas-y?

Glühwein!

I've got a very good one a few years back at the Christmas Market in München (I know not the best one - I believe Nürnberg is - but I did not have the choice at that time). The guy told me the secret ingredient was: vodka - much stronger than the regular fare - but better when it is cold outside!

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

The Poinsettia does but poorly resemble the genuine plant. I understand the excitement of it being Christmas and such but there are better plants in this Lego series.

Gravatar

The Wreath satisfies my urge to Bricklink a bunch of foliage.

Gravatar

That depends on whether or not the cat gets caught chewing on the parts.

@J0rgen:
Part of me feels like I have to buy this. My grandma used to have a pointsetta every year, but the funny thing is I actually asked her about it shortly before she passed. Turns out she didn't actually want them, but one of her relatives sent her a new one every year. Didn't really matter to me, as it had been part of my Christmas tradition for as long as I could remember.

@vizzitor:
Cinnamon sticks, not chocolate mint. And I'm guessing pine cones for your chocolate buttons?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As one of ‘those’ AFOLS I promise not to make any leaf references to ….Duplo!
Perhaps I will change my mind about the newer leaf pieces.

The last wreath ended up on sale- maybe this won’t?

My Family often time go to Mont-Tremblant north of Montreal for the Christmas Holidays and there is usually a kiosk that sells Glühwein (called mulled wine here). There is also a store of the SAQ (liquor store) nearby. We buy a small bottle of vodka and add about an once per glass and it does the trick just fine - not too hard but a bit more 'potent'.

For a afol who could have lost her mother to a heart attack over the summer, but for timely intervention of the NHS, this joke/sarcasm is in rather poor taste.

And when we're oranges and cinnamon sticks on funeral wreaths anyway? Having been to several funerals in my life time, I've never seen them.

I had lost both of my parents in young age, all grandparents, many aunts, and uncles, some friends. And so what?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

And I've lost all my grandparents, and other relatives too. It's not a competition in grief, why make it one.

I was offended by comment, you offended by mine, so what was the point of your comment in the first place.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Are you offended by the graveyards in Lego sets? Or would you feel offended by a Lego car if somebody of your loved one died in a car crash? Perhaps your tendency to feel offended is the main point here?

Gravatar

What do poinsettias or festive wreaths have to do with funerals, anyway? Both are traditional Christmas decorations. Something like lilies would be more typical for a funeral service.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I was talking about the wreath. Wreaths are common in funerals. Definitely more typical than lilies.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm just hoping the wreath doesn't fall apart the moment someone looks at it. I love the look of the original wreath but I've stopped putting it out each year as it falls apart so easily. I've given up repairing it.
